Oak Plantation...

Anyone recently stayed there?

I want to know how it is for one night and what dining options are there in walking distance there are?

I haven't stayed there but use to live right near there.

Of the top of my head, I can remember that there is a Friendly's, Shell's Seafood, Red Lobster, Perkins, and Boston Market all within block or two.

Just my opininon, but...DO NOT STAY AT OAK PLANTATION!!!!!!!!

My family and I chose to stay there for our trip the end of January/beginning of February. We chose to stay there, because we had stayed there five years ago and had a wonderful stay. This time around was quite the opposite.

If you want all of the nitty gritty, you can find it in my trip report (link in signature). But a quick overview:

First villa:
Dirty (i.e. nasty, disgusting looking like dogs lived there) carpets
Black mold in shower
Broken drawer on TV stand
Broken coffee pot
Dusty fake flowers
Dirty, ripped, couch
Garbage under couch
Fiflthy, ripped throw pillows
Etc, etc, etc....

We complained about this villa and were told we would be put in their "brand new remoldeled unit". When I went to the front desk to get the keys, no one knew anything about it. After telling them, again, what was wrong, they moved us into a "brand new" room.

Second - "brand new" - villa:
Dirty carpet
Windows painted shut
Black mold all around window casings
Missing dishes
Missing TV remote (we were told they had been broken into and TV's were stolen)
Missing screen on Master Bedroom
Garbage under couch/chair
Ligth at front door didn't work
Washer/Dryer didn't work and "walked" out into the kitchen floor
Etc, etc, etc....

Most of the problems we had were not taken care of and we checked out earlier than planned. At check-out we were charged almost $40.00 worth of long distance calls that were made at times we were not in the villa (one day we were at the Magic Kingdom, one day we were at Universal Studios and 6 calls made after we were at the front desk ). We are still fighting those charges. We told them we would make it our mission to make sure no one we come in contact with stays at their resort. So, I'm keeping our word!

Anyway.......that's our experience with Oak Plantation. Take it or leave it!!

We were going to stay there last May but stayed at Village at Parkway instead. After reading this, I'm so glad I did!

I'm glad I could help. I really wouldn't recommend this place to anyone - ever. There are alot of nicer places for less money in the area. Good luck and have a great trip!!

Wow, that sounds like one awful stay. I would challenge the charges through your credit card. Also make sure you right the BBB.

My Dh wanted to stay there last time we went to orlando. I am soooooo glad we didn't. He was very keen to stay but I just didn't like the look of it.
We are having a few days at POR, the beach, then AKL this time. Has anyone been to POR recently?

Thank you for reading! I'm really not good at putting my thoughts into written word. Plus, it was my very first trip report! I have a feeling I left out so much.

Definitely keep looking - right on past Oak Plantation!!

The last time we stayed at Oak Plantation was in 2004. We had stayed there in 2001 and 2003. Our first trip was wonderful!!! The resort was beautiful, sevice was great and the price was unbeatable. Our trip in 2004 was our last. We had a terrible time with ants in our room. The ants had checked in before us! When we called about the ants we were handed a bottle of complimentary ant spray. My husband had to spray every day because the ants continued to return. They claimed there were no other rooms available. The day we checked in we had to wait two hours for our room. Our dryer had to run it 2-3 times for clothes to dry. Also, they didn't clean our room until 4:00 each day. The rooms and pool looked really worn compared to our first trip there. Hopefully they have done some renovations since 2004. I wouldn't stay there again even if they did renovate. There are nicer, closer and newer places to stay.

We also stayed there in May 2004. We loved it, we did not have any problems as they described above. Our villa was on the 2nd floor. It was clean, there was no mold anywhere. Everything worked properly. Our only complaint was the washer and dryer. There was a full size one in a closet off the kitchen. We did clothes a couple of times, and the dryer made a whole lot of noise. Not really a big problem, but it seemed like a whole lot of bumping and banging going on.
I really liked it there, and had no problems at all. I wouldnt stay there again simply I think its kind of far out of the way. It seemed the traffic was much heavier at that end, and added driving times to the parks.
