Sorry to post this here but I can figure out what else to do. Yesterday I received about 10 emails confirming a email address change to my ebay account which I did not generate. So, I replied to the message as it instructed and said I do not / did not want to change my email. Well, this morning still no response.

I have listed several items this morning and didn't receive the emails confirming the listings so who ever changed my email is getting the confirmations. What to do????? :headache: :worried:

If you log into eBay and go to my eBay there is a preference tab. If you click on the tab it will bring you to a page that you can view what email address you have listed. If it has changed and you didn't do it I would recommend changing your eBay password.

thanks, that didn't work it only allows you to change it ~ doesn't show what it is currently. I got a brainstorm and realized if a potential bidder wanted to ask me a question it would show the address. I tried it and it had my correct email. Then, when I went back to preferences and went to .....I can't remember but it was like "recent changes" or something. Yesterday there were 6 or 7 changes to my account but it was one or two items changed over and over again.

to be less confusing............in summary........ I think it was a computer glitch but I am curious as to how long it will take ebay to email me back.

thanks for trying to help! :D

SOMEONE IS STEALING YOUR ACCOUNT!!!!!!

This happened to me about 6 months ago! That is the first thing that tipped me off is that my e-mail addy was changed and I didn't do it. I switched it right back and left the house for a few hours. When I returned I had about 20 e-mails asking questions about a camera that I was "selling" It was a total scam and a huge pain to clear up. You MUST contact EBAY right away and tell them what has happened. Someone has your password and that is how they changed your e-mail. If you have Paypal they can gain access to that as well!

Try to click the selling tab just for fun and see if you are selling something.

I think mine got hacked into b/c I replied to an e-mail that looked like it was from ebay and it said I could win an explorer so I needed to type my password.

Good luck and post again and let me know what happens. If you can, change all of your passwords now.......

Jean

thanks for the reply Jean,

I am really thinking mine is a computer error but just incase my passwords are all different from each other so I am safe in that reguard.

I am still waiting to hear from ebay but I am selling stuff so that is no surprise...lol

thanks again and I will update as soon as I hear something!

I got the same emails many months ago and I think my dh responded to one of them. The problem is who ever might have changed your ID possibly now has your personal information. Be very careful and follow up with Ebay's security department. I found the person who got our information was trying to use it to open other accounts and divert our paypal funds into his! I changed my password right away and then changed it again about a week later just in case.

Even if it is just a mistake it is better to cover all your bases now than when you (might) have a bigger mess later.

Also, check your personal information ever once in a while from here on out -- just in case.

I had a mess on my side once -- and won't let it happen again!

Many many people got the same email as you over the past month..myself included. eBay has announced it was a scammer...they did not send them out. Did you click in the email and give your pasword? This is a scam..and eBay will never ever ask for your password. eBay suggests you never click in an email, but instead type in the URL yourself and go direct. You can also forward the email to eBay and please include the headers.

Please change your password right away, and keep a close eye on your charge cards, and and account you have hooked to eBay and Paypal.

I also had a huge mess last year when someone stole my paypal password - they used it to transfer $1800.00 out of my checking account! Be very careful - make sure you contact E-bay ASAP. If it is confirmed that it's just a glitch then you can rest easy -- if not you may be able to stop things before someone steals your personal info or money from your personal accounts!

From eBay's community board..this should help you:

***Online Safety: Protect Yourself From Fraudulent (Spoof) Email***
Date: 11/14/03 Time: 04:59:42 PM PST

eBay is working hard to help keep your account safe from hacking and unauthorized intrusions.

Some Community members have received deceptive emails claiming to come from eBay, PayPal, or other popular websites. The people who send these emails, also known as "spoof" or "phishing" emails, hope that unsuspecting recipients will reply or click on a link contained in the email and then provide sensitive personal information (e.g., eBay passwords, social security numbers, or credit card numbers).

We strongly encourage you to be cautious when responding to any email request for sensitive personal information.

Remember, just because an email looks like it’s from eBay, it doesn't mean it really is. An eBay address in the "From" line of an email (From: support@ebay.com, From: billing@ebay.com, From: eBay Account Maintenance) does not guarantee that the email is from eBay.

You can also take a few simple steps to protect your account and prevent senders of deceptive emails from doing harm:

Be sure you are on an eBay page before signing in-- check the web address.
Always use a secure server when submitting credit card numbers over the Internet.
Do not send sensitive personal information via email.
Use the eBay site to update account information.
Forward suspicious email to spoof@ebay.com.
Detailed information about each of the above topics can be found at the Spoof Education Page.

Educate Yourself
eBay's Help system provides detailed information about spoof emails, identity theft, and what to do if your eBay account has been compromised. Learn more at eBay's Security Center.

Your vigilance helps us ensure that eBay remains a safe and vibrant online marketplace.

Regards,
eBay
