I have already scheduled a Hoop Dee Doo PS---but with budget being an issue--not sure which would be better for the money with 3 kids, dd 9, dd8, and ds4. Any advice would be great! Is Hoop Dee Doo worth the money or would O'hanas be a nice entertaining meal as well. What time would be best if I do switch to O'hanas to stay & see the fireworks? Going week of May 17th.
Thanks for any opinions!:D

Isn't O'hanas a restaurant at the Poly? These are 2 totally different experiences. Hoop Dee Doo is a dinner & a show.

The Hoop Dee Doo is very enjoyable but it's certainly not inexpensive. Our DD's have enjoyed it each time we went. I'm not sure how the meals are at O'hanas because we've never eaten there. The Hoop Dee Doo meal is comfort food - chicken, ribs, corn, potatoes.

If you are looking at cost, then choose just a dinner. If you can afford to spend more then you would enjoy the Hoop Dee Doo.

Another option is to eat at Trail's End Buffet in FW & watch the MK fireworks from the boat dock after dinner. Trials End has the same type of food as Hoop Dee Doo.

Good luck with your decision. :D

you gotta do the doo! Its absolutely worth every penny! one of the highlights of yur trip for sure!

We have done Hoop de Doo twice and it is alot of fun but the food is mediocre at best. O"Hanna on the other hand is a wonderful feast but no entertainment.

O'hana has entertainment, it's on par with the interactivity of the CMs at Whispering Canyon. Geared to the kiddies and fun.

Hoop De Doo is an experience. Dinner theater where the Wait staff gets involved as well. If you want a stretch for your vacation dollars, do the Doo.

The Other Emporer.

Just back from our trip where we went to O'Hana for the first time and LOVED it. I've never been to Hoop Dee Doo though... I asked the same question as you before we left.

The food was terrific - I'd kill for the chicken wing recipe - and plentiful. I kept saying "cousin, I'm full!!" but he kept giving me more.

The kids had a blast - the coconut races and hoola hoping made for some big laughs and great pictures.

In my family (O'Hana) we say when something is good it's a definite "do-over" - we will be back.

Try it, you won't regret it. Enjoy.

We were faced with the same decision- I had made Hoop Dee Doo ressies way in advance, but when it was a couple of days til vacation, we really looked at the price and decided we should skip it this time. Plus our kids are on the younger side, and my DH isn't really into "slapstick." We went to Cape May Cafe that evening instead and it was great, and it was $60 less. We went to Ohana another evening and it was AWESOME. Great food, excellent service. We made a 6:40 PS and arrived at 6:25 and requested a window table. We got a GLORIOUS window table- the best seat in the house!! It was in the corner and directly faced the castle. Sure enough, at 7:00 the lights dimmed, they piped in the music and it was simply magical. My only advice- have a light lunch because you will stuff yourself silly! :jester:

I agree that these are two very different experiences. That being said, we've done both and have yet to "reapeat" on HDD, but now O'Hana is scheduled into EVERY trip. Have fun.

My DW and I did 'Ohana back in Jan 2002, and we were asking each other, while walking back to the parking lot after the dinner, if we could come back next year! So we did, Jan 2003 we went back, and took my mother (who drove up from Tampa that afternoon). She stayed at OKW a few weeks ago for her birthday, and took my brother to 'Ohana, and he ATE A LOT!

Anyways, as for Hoop-De-Doo, it is completely different than 'Ohana but it was good too. We ate at the front center table right next to the stage, I was moved in my chair during one song so they could get back on the stage between out table and the next.

I really love the food more at 'Ohana, but the show was fun at HDD. I don't know if we will go back soon, but I would not be opposed to the thought. 'Ohana, for now (as it was in Jan 2003), will be the only place we eat at each trip.

Not that I have made your decision any easier between these two places ;) but if cost is a worry, I would go with 'Ohana. There is still plenty of activities for kids, (and adults sometimes) at 'Ohana and you can't go wrong with the food.

It's a tough one. Hoop De Doo is an absolute hoot. But Ohana is great, and far cheaper.

And don't be disappointed if there are no fireworks on May 17. Although the odds are REALLY good because it's a Saturday. Even if they seat you where you aren't close to the windows, people there have always been really good about letting the kids go and stand by the windows to watch.

I've dined at both O'Hana's & Hoop and my vote is for O'Hana's. Although there may not be a show included, O'Hana's has games for the kids to play. The food is excellent & the atmosphere enjoyable. I would check to see what time the fireworks go off and plan for dinner either before or after that, but would definitely recommend a PS, as this is a popular place to dine.

I vote for The Hoop Dee Doo Revue!! It is pricey but don't forget the price includes your drinks (Beer, Sangria, Soda, etc.,) a great show-- as well as gratuity. We enjoyed the food..fried chicken, bbq ribs, corn, I think baked beans and strawberry shortcake . I know there is more but I can't remember!!!
We went with a couple picky teenagers, a 9yo, and my 60ish DM, my DH, and DS and everyone loved it!! We've been back a couple times since that 1st time and we'll go again on our next trip!!
On the other hand I found Ohana to be a disappointment, it consists of large portions of different kinds of meat on skewers that had a smoky flavor we didn't care for. A lot of people like it there but it wasn't something we'll do again.
