O.C. Fans....Who Cried??

No offense, but I had to laugh, not cry. I have only watched it the last couple of episodes because it "grabbed" me after Idol.

I do like it and will probably continue to watch it, but to me those 20-something-looking "high schoolers" acting deadly serious over someone they have only dated briefly (and broken up with and then started dating again, all in the space of less than a year) just made me laugh.

The show is also humorous on purpose, which I like. As someone else said, I prefer the "adults," although they look like they are only about 15 years older than the "kids," lol :)

More thoughts: The girls and women are too skinny. I used to be that thin (but toned from dancing), but now it just looks scrawny to me. Who would want to hug those bags of bones?

I support the right to choose just because changing the laws would put women in serious danger (and lower income women disproportionately), and that is unquestionably wrong. However, it was disturbing to see how every character on that show took it so lightly and was so relieved when they thought the Chino girl was going to get rid of her baby, as if making all their selfish lives easier justified that decision. Notice they tried to slide over the issue by never mentioning the "A"-word.

I missed a couple of episodes while in WDW. I saw the last 2. Can someone tell me why Marissa is moving in with Julie? I know it has something to do with her dad and Caleb but what? I also missed how Ryan and Marissa got back together.

Caleb "blackmailed" Marissa into moving in with him and Julie. Marissa wanted nothing to do with her mother after Julie hooked up with her ex boyfriend luke...but Julie wanted marissa back in her life.

I think Caleb told Marissa that he would only help her father (Jimmy) with the restaurant if Marissa moved in with them. (or something like that.)

Ryan and Marissa tried the friends thing - obvisouly neither of them liking it...and just kinda 'fell' back together again...nothing big...just kinda happened.

The old guy who married Julie blackmailed Marissa by threatening something about Marissa's dad. I think it was, if she moved in with them to please her mother, the old guy would buy the restaurant and the dad would then have millions. They are all so shallow, it is like the Dynasty of the new millennium! :) Maybe there was some sort of threat that if she didn't comply the dad would go to jail, I'm not sure how that worked.

P.S. To all, what Shrek song? I liked the Beatles song that was sung at the wedding, although the words weren't quite wedding material :)

Hallelujah by Rufus Wainwright.

It was played when Fiona was getting ready for her marriage to Lord Farquaad. Shrek was back home in his swamp all depressed...Fiona was all depressed...Donkey was getting it on with Dragon.

yeah - that part. hehehe

Yeah, I liked that song too but I thought it was appealing to the Baby Boomers in the audience. I didn't know it was from Shrek :)

Yeah I cried but just because it was too much like some things going on in my actual life.

Actually the whole Caleb blackmailing Marissa thing is what really set a bad taste in my mouth for the end of the season. I mean, come on, it was revealed to Jimmy that she was being blackmailed into it so why didn't he say, no you don't have to do this to Marissa. She really didn't have to go through it because what Caleb threatened was to withdraw his offer to buy the restaurant - saying this to Marissa after he had transfered the check to Jimmy. Jimmy and Seth's Dad want the check not to be any good - they want the sale not to go through as they found out Caleb's deception. They can turn around and sell the restaurant to the developer for more money as Caleb was intending to do -

So bottom line: why did Marissa go through with it and move back with Julie and Caleb?

It was wayyyyy thin to me - plus then having her just take a bottle and drag off of it was not in character and was a total weak ending.

Seth has always been the strongest character in the ensemble in my opinion so his story line cliff hanger is actually a good one and is fairly realistic to believe his immense angst at losing Ryan and that he would take off in his boat.

Actually - it WAS in her character..at least, her character before Ryan in her life.

Marissa was a party girl before Ryan showed up - lots of booze and pills.

so she pretty much went full circle

The music really got to me last night for some reason. I was so sad for seth sailing off into the sunset by himself. I cant wait until the fall to see how it all plays out.

Stinkerbelle, I think everyone on the show pretty much went full circle...

1. Seth back to moody and reserved
2. Marissa, back to alcohol
3 Ryan, back to Chino
4. Sandy, back to lawyer

everyone else seems a bit left alone...but it seemed like a theme.

::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

yep - it's like Ryan came into their lives for just a year and look at what impact he had on them.

he HAS to come back...he HAS to!!!

I cried so hard when Kirsten was crying. partially because the show was sad, but mostly because of things going on at our house. We have had an 18 year old boy living with us and he just recently moved out, I did not realize how hard it was going to be to let him go, seeing Kirsten going through the same thing really hit me:(. I love the OC and can't wait until next season!

I love this show, but I thought the ending was a little weak.... I think leaving it on when Thereasa was PG but before last night would have been a good point, but it did go full circle....

Even to the point that when Ryan was driving away last night he looked back and Marissa was there just like the scene when Sandy was taking him back to Chino the first time in the beginning!

Lots of options for next season that's for sure.... Ryan has to be back in some form...
