NyQuil...?

Used to be the best for me-I could actually feel the stuff warm my legs! Noticed after the kids were born didn't quite work the same & now that I have high blood pressure...the doctor tells me not use it....

NyQuil is one of the few things that helps me sleep when I'm sick. BUT somedays I wake up feeling REALLY hung over.

If I take the full dose, there is no doubt about the hung over feeling. It takes me a really long time to get moving and shake off the fuzzy feeling. Even when I take it in the pill form, I only take one of the tablets not both of them.

Ah, NyQuil. How do I love thee? ;) Works wonders for me, except sometimes it makes it harder to get up in the morning.

I guess they make a "Less Drowsy" formula for NyQuil now...when I first saw that I was like, "Well, isn't the point of NyQuil to knock you off your butt so you can sleep through the night??" But after reading this thread, I guess the regular stuff really does affect people differently. I would probably never bother with the less drowsy stuff, but maybe it would work better for some people here?

Nyquil has the opposite effect on me than it has for most people. If I take it I have weird dreams where I think I have to be awake for something and spend the whole night waking myself up. Then, when I'm awake, I feel like a nervous wreck...uncomfortable...restless legs...you know the deal. Same thing with other similar cold medicines I've tried.

I take it with one Advil PM. I'm so used to taking the PMs every night that it doesn't bother me the next day. I get a good nights sleep:cloud9: and am wide awake in the morning. :yay:

I am one of the ones who cant take it - makes me kind of jittery and I have had awful nighmares while on it

tyelenol pm works for me

Nyquil works great for me as far as waking up and feeling well rested, but I always get the CRAZIEST dreams when I take it pretty much every single time. It is always interesting the next morning as I start to recall the insanity I have lived through the night before...not nightmares, just crazy, looney stuff. I had a friend who reported the same kind of thing when she took it.

I also wake up after about two hours. It always worked fine until about five years ago.

Love Nyquil...... very handy the night before a big trip and I can't sleep. It's like pixie dust. If it does not work.... may not be smart to try a bigger dosage?

Nyquil makes me jittery and makes my mind race!!! I don't take it at all, it doesn't put me to sleep like it does for other people.

Same for me. Plus, I don't find it helps any of my cold symptoms either.

LOL, didn't even notice the date of the thread

My daughter had weird dreams when she took it! I can't take it because to me it is like a cocaine type feeling- can't sleep, heart races, nervous feeling--if I wanted to stay awake for something it would be good to take, but not to sleep, no way.

I used to use Alka seltzer and it worked great. But with a med I have now I have to use something that does not work half the time. I also use vicks vapo rub on my forehead, throat, and under my nose. I put a cool cloth on my head and use some advil for the pressure. And most of the time it works so goo for me. Also a humidifier. And I also put a big bowl of water near the vents are for where heat and air are so that gets moisture in the house as well.

For me I am a huge person that for me it is all about the pressure not to much of the other.
