NYPD BLUE last night

Anyone who watched NYPD Blue last night - what's the story with the new Captain? I remember that the character has been in previous episodes & that Sipowitz doesn't think too highly of him - but I can't remember what's the story about him. Can anyone clue me in?

That's Eddie Gibson. He is kind of a goof and somewhat screw up whom Andy has helped/bailed out a couple of times. At one point he had cancer so we were really surprised to see him again. I have to think that this is temporary, he is too much of a "comic relief" character to remain in command, it would really detract from the show.

There isn't much more I can add, NYPD Blue spoilers are hard to come by, in part, I believe, because the writing staff is notorius for doing things on the fly and not much is known before hand.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm wondering if this is leading up to a "cliff hanger" season finale. If I had to guess, I'd think that Andy is going to somehow take over in command. But, that's just my guess. I have nothing backing that up and I've been wrong on guesses before.

I watched NYPD Blue last night (and any other night a new one is on). I was surprised that they brought in Eddie Gibson. He's not boss material. I can see him pissing off everybody by constantly stepping on their toes.

I was sad to see Esai Morales leave the show.
