NYE - What would you do?

What a dilemma! Short trip Dec. 30 (arrive MCO about 4:30 pm) thru Jan 3 (no time in parks that time).

My plan had been to stay at the parks late on Dec. 30th, then sleep in and head to MK somewhat late on Dec. 31 to catch the parade (has to be that day - my HS marching band is there), then on over to MGM for dinner and the midnight fireworks.

But now I learn that plan is bad on many counts - not getting to any park until late and trying to parkhop because of parks filling to capacity.

Truth be told, I'd rather miss the parade than the fireworks. But if we have to get to MGM early in the day, I'm afraid we'll be bored hanging out there until midnight. (Will just be me and DS16).

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Hi, I don't post much on Dis, but here goes, I was at MGM on NYE last year. I can tell you it was very fun and packed by 9:00pm, but managable. There was a band playing at the "hat" area until the fireworks time. They were very entertaining and fun. We received hats to wear and there were some 'adult' drink set ups around the park. We even saw some of Epcot's fireworks while coming back on the boat to Boardwalk (we left a few minutes early and watched MGM's fireworks out side the gate).
