NYE trip planning needed!

Anyone been in WDW or Universal over New Year's? We're considering a combo trip with both beginning 12/28 or 12/29. Have no idea what to expect this time of year. Trip is myself, DH, and two tweens, who think they've outgrown Disney. Thus the combo trip...

Can we do MK on New Year's Eve or is it awful?
How disruptive is it to switch reosrts/theme parks in mid trip?
Anyone who has also done combo trip, how did you work it?

It's either go for end of year/early Jan or wait until Spring Break, since I'm a school employee.

This is the most busiest time of the year and often parks close early to allowing guest to enter due to the crowds. If you think you want to do this time of year,major planning will be a must. I would probably go spring break, crowded yes but not as crowded as Christmas-New Years.
