NYE Plans?

Staying home and binging this season’s Great British Baking Show while wearing my pjs. I may order something delicious for dinner then I’ll try to go to sleep. I live in an apartment complex and NYE is on Friday so sleep isn’t at all certain this weekend, 🙄
New Year’s Day will be the Rose Bowl Parade in the morning and the Vienna Philharmonic NYD concert that night.
Ooh I adore Great British Baking Show—it’s so much better than the Food Network baking shows

Well, someone decided they were too important to wear a mask. Just had a fist fight with the flight attendants and police.

Hope we are not delayed for too long.
Oh wow! Hope they were escorted off the flight and banned From the airline

Never a dull moment these days. Glad the delay wasn't too long and I hope you guys have a spectacular time!

I was hoping to have plans this year but alas I will be home. I am picking up some appetizers from Applesbees (because I'm Fancy Like) for dinner and enjoy them with a bottle of Champagne. I will likely be in bed at 9pm.

I'm gonna let DW get all the Stone Crabs, salmon, champagne, etc laid out -- and then I'm gonna put "Fancy Like" on the TV!

Livin' the dream in the 305!

We cancelled our planned NYC NYE trip because of schedule conflicts and were bummed about it until the Broadway cancellations started piling up, but we ended up making other plans that aren't New York fun but are still more than we'd usually do for New Year's Eve. DD20's boyfriend is in town for a few days so we're taking him to the Detroit Institute of Arts, going skating at the downtown ice rink, and having an early dinner out. Then they're headed to a small NYE party, DD13 is going to her usual friend-group sleepover, and DH & I will settle in at home to watch the UMich game and channel surf between the various NYE countdown shows to catch some of the performances.

I have zero understanding of this kind of behavior! I’m probably just about the least concerned person when it comes to Covid. I don’t take any precautions and live my normal life. But why the heck would you get on a plane and think you’re going to somehow manage not to wear a mask?!! And then physically fight people who are doing their jobs by telling you to wear one?!! I can’t understand how people like that think! I’m flying to NYC tomorrow night to spend New Years in Times Square. I know good and well a mask is required, and while I would choose not to wear one if given the choice, it’s required so that’s that. Why get on a plane and think they are somehow going to change the rules for you and ack like an jerk about it?!

People in my neighborhood love fireworks, so we usually take turns going out on the roof and staying in to comfort the kitties. If it's raining really hard, I might skip the roof and just stay in cuddling the fluffs.

In the Netherlands there are traditional tv programmes. Besides year overviews from news channels, there is always a show by a comedian who does a comic take on the last twelve months. So will probably watch that. Watch the fireworks in my neighbourhood from the upstairs window.

Because Christmas and NYE are both in the weekend this year, I am staying in by myself. Last weekend with Christmas, I was social enough with friends and family, I now need a weekend to recover 😉

Every year we order chinese, nestle an inflatable mattress in the open area of our sectional to make a huge sleeping area and watch movies until the family falls asleep. The kids usually conk out around 10:30.

This year, I will be staying up past midnight for the first time in a decade to check us in for a cruise that I'm not 100% sure we board.

:earboy2:We did DLP straight from the airport; jet-lagged and with only a single afternoon to spare in Paris. I hope you have a better time than we did! :wave2:
Thanks. Shouldn’t have too much jet lag. We are flying from Istanbul after a week over here and we are gaining 2 hours headed to Paris. Our sleep schedule has been adjusted for a few days now so we should be okay. January 1st however? I’m gonna be TIRED. We are planning for a sleepy flight home and hope it’s worth it. Much easier than flying from the states, and we have two days at home to recover.

Watching a movie in our pajamas and setting fireworks out in the street in front of our house at midnight.

Yes! Love that. We can see fireworks from our 2nd floor deck. Even Dland on a clear night. Have fun!
