NYE and Disney Springs

We have dinner reservations on NYE at the Boathouse. I am not completely understanding the capacity closure protocols there. Are all entrances manned and everyone denied? I am reading different reports... Some say closure is for personal vehicles in the garages but you can park elsewhere and enter. What about rideshares or walking over from Saratoga. Trying to wrap my head around how to get to my 8:00 reservation and not be denied entry, I’m sure it is going to be a madhouse. Thanks in advance... I hope I posted this in the right forum.

I believe all ways to enter DS require passing through a temperature tent/checkpoint. I assume if capacity is reached they won't let you through. The checkpoints I saw there a couple weeks ago also had a guard outside.

I've been researching the same thing because we have reservations Christmas Day (evening). What I have found is that it sounds like even if the parking lots are full, you could potentially still get in via bus, Uber, walking, etc. But I'm sure there still has to be a capacity overall.

I do not know this, and I am just guessing based on past years. But having an ADR is likely to give you an advantage over someone who does not. I would guess capacity will occur in several stages, first closing the garages, and then closing to people who don’t have an ADR, and then closing completely.

There's no way to enter without parking at one of the garages or ground parking, these have been closed for capacity before, so even if you have an adr you couldn't get in, unless you walk from the ds hotels or come in a resort bus

They drop off at strawberry as far as i know, i believe they close that as well when at capacity

The OP indicated walking from Saratoga. I was guessing there might be a step between when they close the garage and when they close completely. Someone might be able to walk in if they have a ADR, where someone without an ADR might not be able to even walk in.

I really wish Disney would be more transparent about this. Would probably save a lot of people time from trying to venture down there.

if you are a resort guest you can ask at the front desk if DS is still open, if you are driving in you will see signs that DS is at capacity and the garages have a "lot full" electronic sign
If anyone is coming during very busy times of year during this new normal you have to plan for things closing very early

I get that, I really do, and I'm flexible, but they should consider people who have made ADRs into the equation.
