DH and I have plans to return home to BWV this NYE. I was wondering if anyone knows what the big entertainment is this year. I'm aware of The Atlantic Dance Hall having a big party in the past and I know Pleasure Island will be exciting, but exactly what should we expect? Who will be performing? And how do we get tickets? Any info or tips on NYE is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It always seems like it's difficult to find out what the entertainment will be for NYE. I think it's usually September/October (or even later) before PI is announced. It's also hard to predict for this year. For the last few years, tickets prices were going up and up for PI with it being in the roughly $150 per person range. Then last year, they cut the buffet out and reduced the price to around $60 per person. We'll see what happens this year.

The Atlantic Dance party is usually around $300 per person. But, that could also come down in price this year.

I would check here and Deb Wills site to keep an eye on what the entertainment will be and when reservations open and the cost.

They usuallly have some "name" person in MGM as well. But, it's also hard to find out details. Epcot doesn't have "names" but they do have very good entertainment in all the World Showcase countries and it's a party atmosphere.

Expect big crowds -- be prepared with some heavy layers (especially gloves) and hope that it's warm instead. If you go to the parks, just go with the flow!

I hate to break this to you, but we are going to be at WDW for NYE also. Both years that we were there, orlando had unseasonably low temperatures. The good thing is that it really cuts down the crowds. The bad thing is, you end up freezing your butt off! This phenomenon seems to follow myself and my husband so I apologize in advance for subjecting you to it!

We always go to the parks on NYE. I would not stay at BWV and go to PI, personally... I would go to either Epcot or MGM or Atlantic Dance. Traffic after midnight reaches colossal proportions so you might as well take advantage of paying a premium to stay at the BWV and go somewhere where you can walk. We are also staying at BWV and going to MGM (we have already done Epcot, and the MK last year when we got a great rate at the contemporary).

We always have a great time, but we go with friends and pretty much decide that we are not going to fight the crowds... we see a couple of attractions, stake out good spots for parades hours in advance, take long sit down meals and bring games to play while we just enjoy being in the festive atmosphere. IMO, the fireworks (both at Epcot and the MK) were worth the price of admission alone!

Lisa -- Try this. Pack all kinds of coats, hats, sweaters, etc. Tell your guests to do the same. After my first Christmas trip and freezing to death I did this. That trip the temps were in the high 70's/low 80's. My brother's family thought I was nuts telling them to bring all their stuff. ;)

Be sure to catch the Pre Parade for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade. My DD's high school Band will be marching in it.....

I still haven't decided if I want to ride 20+hours in a bus with HS students....
