HI everyone..

I am looking to do 2 or 3 nights in NYC area from Nov 3-6... Ive been there before, but am overwhelmed trying to find something/ANYTHING reasonable..Any ideas/help is welcome!!

NYC is VERY expensive. Expect to pay around $400/$500 per night. You could try bidding on an online site, but be careful. I bid on a 4-5 star hotel near the American Girl store and got a great price, however... it was at the W hotel on Lexington Ave. We showed up with our 2 girls and the room was the size of a standard cruise ship room - probably, 125 sqft. Yes, one queen bed and a bathroom. Not too much room on the floor. Thankfully we brought a blow up kiddie bed for DD (who was around 7 at the time) and little DD slept with us in the bed. It was OK for just one night, but I would have gladly paid double for a larger room if we had to stay a second night.

You could try staying in some of the areas outside of Times Square/Theatre District. The Financial District, etc. might be cheaper.

Have you thought about staying in NJ? Usually when DH and I go down for a visit we'll price line a hotel room in Jersey City or Hoboken. It's the first stop on the Path train from NYC so it's a quick ride and you also get a great view of the whole city from the water front there.

As an example, DH and I are going down the last weekend in August...we won the Westin Jersey City for $140/night. Compared to what it'd cost to stay in the city and I'll gladly pay the $2 train fare to ride in.

Just went for the weekend!
Some that I can think of that may be moderately priced. We've never paid $400-500 for a room in NYC, not even close!
Travel Inn (free parking if you plan on driving in) not fancy, but clean and a good location
Radio City Apartments
The Belvedere
Affinia Manhattan
Intercontinental Times Square
Holiday Inn Express/Madison Square Garden
Best Western Bowery Hanbee/Chinatown
many of the hotels in the Financial District/Downtown will be lower priced due to their location. Weekends are cheaper, weekdays are more expensive due to business travel.
always read tripadvisor reviews before booking

Check Hotwire, check Travelzoo NYC Lodging Specials. DO NOT book on priceline if you will be more than two people in the room. www.betterbidding.com might help with hotwire or priceline

Why are you going that weekend?

Most pricy weekend of the year with the Marathon on.

HA! I had no idea..thank you! I just picked this weekend thinking it would be cheaper in November before December comes. Both mine and my husband's 40th b-days are in October (1 day apart), so I was trying to plan a surprise trip..I guess I should push it back a week or two?? LOL The following weekend is Veteran's Day, so thought with a holiday it might be more expensive then. Thank you for pointing that out!!

Try calling Chelseasavoy hotel directly. I paid $135 a night over July 4th weekend. It isn't in Times Square but right near the subway and only a few stops away and much quieter for sleeping at night. Also look at skylinehotel - I had it booked Dec 26th - Dec 28th last year for $135 a night though a blizzard changed my plans - it is a bit further out down near the Intrepid but adults could still walk to Times Square and is near transportation.

we stayed at the Hilton Garden inn right in time sqaure very reasonablely priced. Plus the rooms are larger than most NYC hotels and they have queen size beds!

Thank you so much for all your ideas!! I appreciate it..Keep them coming!

We went to NYC at the beginning of July and stayed at the Fairfield Inn right off of Times Square. They have decent size bedrooms (for NYC) and the price was resonable, about $650 or so for 3 nights. Great location to everything as well, and they have a decent continental breakfast.

whats more important to u, staying in the city, or saving money ?

if ur willing to stay just outside the city, i always tell my friends to look at this place

La Quinta Long Island City

it is actually in a pretty decent location. 2 blocks to the subway which is about 10 minutes from the city.

hotel is on 38th st and subway is on 40th st. u can use google maps street view if u want.

oh, and the neighborhood is safe too.

we LOVE the Marriott Marquis!! Cost about $300 a night BUT it is right in times Square looking at the jumbotron :) Many people say it is cheaper to stay in NJ or further out of the city BUT you will waste a ton of time traveling and pay more to do so! The Marquis has some of the biggest room in NYC and have 2 beds in there rooms-which is rare! They have a Starbucks downstairs where we would have breakfast. The staff is very nice! You can wonder around in front of the hotel at night and enjoy the lights!PERFECT!!

Weehawken NJ is another option. Its just across the river and you can take the ferry into the city plus you have that beautiful NY skyline view

I agree with pp's who suggested Hotwire. Also check travelzoo and hotwire travelticker. If your dates aren't set in stone, play around with them a bit. I do think you should stay in the city. it's NYC baby:banana: lol
