So I just moved to the NYC area and I heard about the Duplex piano bar and I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on the place. Info/suggestions/reviews would be helpful. I was reading about their "Mostly Sondheim Fridays" and that just sounds like a lot of fun (I recognize that I'm revealing a lot about myself in that statement) :) Is the place good or is it more hype than anything else?

Thanks!

Mostly Sondheim Fridays! Cool! :thumbsup2

DUDE, I go there all the time!

The place is a lot of fun, there are two levels. First floor is the piano bar/cabaret with sing-a-longs. If you sit at a table, it's waitress service only for your drinks. It does get CROWDED on Thursday/Friday/Saturday nights starting at about 9:30/10pm. It's still a blast anyway.

Upstairs is a lounge type bar, no shows or anthing in the main room. In the back of that floor is the main cabaret where they put on shows, off-broadway rehashes, etc...

If you're up for meeting there sometime, lemme know! Be glad to meet a fellow DIS'er. I may be able to drag along the other half as well.

FYI, I've picked the Duplex on two separate occasions for mini-DIS meets and everyone always seems to have a great time.

Nice! Thanks Rick! I'll let you know once my life gets a little more settled...I'd love to check it out with you!

Piano bars aren't really my thing - but Marie's Crisis just around the corner is something that every gay guy in NYC should check out at least once - as much to appreciate the history of the place as to enjoy the spectacle.

Also, if you like musicals, there is also Musical Mondays at Splash.
