I am in the early planning stages of our first trip to DL and San Diego in Oct. I have looked at several airlines and am leaning toward Jet Blue as they fly non-stop (very important to me), don't charge extra for multiple cities (important) and have TVs (a nice plus). Here are the prices:

$124 JFK into Long Beach (this is for the DL portion of our trip)
$164 San Diego into JFK (obviously, this is for the San Diego part)

Do these seem like good rates? I have never flown to CA before, so I can't judge.
I also have never flown Jet Blue before, so I don't really know if they are likely to run a special or lower their prices before our trip?

Does anyone know of another airline that flies nonstop NY to CA? I have checked out Song also, but I would have to fly in and out of LAX. I should add that it doesn't have to be JFK, we could just as easily fly out of LaGuardia or even easier, Islip.

Thanks for any advice you can give. ;)

Jet Blue, normally prices like the Disney cruise line, lowest prices out first then they go up as the plane fills. But they have been known to put routes on special. BOS to MCO gets a lots of sales!

If you want to make sure of a non-stop and you can pay this price, it isn't all that bad. They do have comfy seats, extra leg room in the back 2/3, and TVs at each seat. Their snack service is fairly good, you get the whole can of pop/soda/juice. And the biscotti is fabulous! Make sure you pick up something to eat for your main meal at JFK.

Have you tired orbitz.com? They will even search nearby airports for you. I head jetblue is nice but never flew them. We always fly delta. There are lots of flights NY-Ca but maybe not the airports you want. JFK-LAX is popular delta route and even JFK-SFO on united and american. Try orbitz though.

Welll, considering I just happily paid $250 round trip Boston to Ft Myers for February School Vacation, I would say $288 round trip NY to CA is a pretty good fare. Given my choice, if I were making this trip, I would fly JetBlue in a heartbeat. I have flown with them in the past, and the experience is wonderful from start to finish. Plus, you get a good fare!! GO FOR IT.

I will echo a previous poster, and definitely advise you to bring a sandwich, or bagel sandwich or something to eat, the biscotti is YUMMY, but it will not see you through a 5 hour flight. :)

For what you want, I think that is a very good deal. You have non stops which certainly adds to the value. Also, San Diego is a smallish airport with no real alternatives around. So, it tends to cost more. I really think you did fine with your fares.

American Airlines flys directly into San Diego, Long Beach or Los Angeles. They always have great rates.

Thanks for the advice. :flower:
I have checked American, Continental, Delta and either they don't fly nonstop or the prices are way higher than Jet Blue. I guess I'm going to bite the bullet and book Jet Blue. Does anyone know if I can get a credit with them if the flights go down?

I get credits from JB frequently. I belong to True Blue their FF program. I do not know if you need to join to receive a credit. If the price drops, just call and ask for the credit. They have always been terrific about giving it.

For those of you who love the Jet Blue biscotti, they are made by Mamma Says, a company owned by a good friend of mine. You can buy them at any Costco, Sams Club, Shop Rite, Trader Joes, and many other food stores. They also have a website where you can order them online.
