NY Giants.....

I do actually know this. Therefore the smilie. I guess my joke didn't go over too well.

Oh, sorry. :rotfl: I've heard so many people use the "what exit" joke and actually have no idea why it's funny or the difference between the two roads. As my daughter says "my bad".

I used to live off Exit 4 (off the Palisades)...not in Jersey, but my house was 100 yards from Jersey. My oldest was actually born in NJ since my OBGYN and the closest hospital were both in Jersey.

Was land cheaper in NJ or just not available in NYC? I'm pretty sure that the reason the Washington Redskins play in Landover, Maryland was because of the cost of the land.

So Giants fans have you seen this funny fan video?

The Giants moved to the Meadowlands in 1976. In the 1970s, NY State and most importantly, NYC had no money to spare. They wouldn't have given the Giants any tax breaks as I'm sure NJ did. So it was cheaper to move to NJ. The Giants had incorporated the name back in the 20's too. Plus in the pre-internet, pre-cable TV days I guess they wanted the NY identity. And as someone mentioned, they do represent the Metro NY area.

Call them New Jersey Giants and start paying comuter taxes for working in New York. Half the people I work with in NYC live in Jersey. I never asked but I do not think they pay any special tax to New York. I beleive the path thanks to to port authority dolling out is the cheapest way into the city monthly. I am pretty sure mile for mile it is way cheaper than my comunting fee. Hey pay up and you can call them the Jersey Giants.

BTW I am only joking. I rather see noone pay anymore taxes than they are paying now. ANYWHERE to ANYBODY.

Less taxes..

And Go Giants!

I remember the old World League of American Football had the NY/NJ Knights...the name was combined like that

I don't think naming them the NJ Giants/Jets would be a problem since the Giants are playing the New England Patriots and last time I checked New England wasn't a city. And FWIW, there is also the Texas Rangers who play baseball. Texas also isn't a city. Maybe I should have been clearer in my original OP. :rolleyes1

And in NJ, we have the New Jersey Devils (NHL) and the New Jersey Nets (NBA).

But then there's this

The race will be in Weehawkin - Manhatten will merely be a scenic backdrop.
