I have been divorced from my ex since DDs were very young. Had to get the enforcement unit to collect from his paycheck since, although he had a great job & inherited home, he didn't want to pay towards the kids expenses. Got into major arrears because (due to not wanting to pay and a mental illness), he kept quitting his jobs. I agreed to a small amount of support due to his issues, and am remarried for many years. Fast forward to now, one daughter is in college and the other in her senior year of high school. Youngest has same emotional/mental illness as dad, which causes her to have many behavioral issues. Missed a ton of school days and is dropping out. Doesn't like me parenting her about it, so, although her dad now lives in extremely small quarters & they haven't spent more than a few days together over the past several years, she has recently gone to stay with him (giving the rest of us a much needed break)....and will be 18 in a few months. She just got a job near his. Ex still pays the small support on both kids, plus his accrued arrears. I'm thinking that if DD stays with him, he will take me back to court to stop paying current support on her...which would make sense, but- 1) he may throw her out quickly, as he has done in the past 2) she may come back on her own 3) she is insured by my husband, based on her living here, 4) ex was supposed to insure both kids and pay 1/2 of college, deductibles, etc, which he has not at all (I have not attempted to take him to court for this, as I know he doesn't have the $). Can he try to get support from me? I don't have issue with helping support her, just concerned because he owes me so much in arrears, plus I have been shouldering all the college tuition (for older DD), many medical expenses, etc. The company I work for is in bankruptcy, so my future employment is iffy at best. What could happen here?

Laws vary by state and I don't know the laws for your state- based on laws in GA- only with few exception is child support paid for a child over the age of 18, so I would not worry about it. If he takes you to court ( and I doubt he does) then you could speak with an attorney familiar with your state's laws.
