Does anyone know if NWA has been added as a participating airline for DME? I saw it listed on another post but not on any of the other information sites... disney, allears, etc. thanks!

No, It hasn't been added. It is my understanding that you can still use the service you just have to get your own luggage. Susan

When you go to Disney just put the Magical Express Luggage Tickets on your bags and they will be pulled from the luggage belts (behind the scenes) by DME employees and brought to your resort.

The thing that most airlines do not participate in is the advance check-in for your return flight. IE check in for your flight at the ME desks at the resort hotels and leave your luggage off with them to be transported on to your specific airline.

You don't have to get your own luggage, you just need to check it in yourself on departure. The yellow ME tags are what alows Disney to get your luggage for you. Just make sure when you check your bags at your departure city that the agent doesn't take them off (they shouldn't, they are used to tags like this and they don't interfer with the NWA tags).

The difference with non participating airlines comes when you leave Disney. Rather than being able to check in for your flight at the hotel and leave your bags, you will need to take them to the ME bus yourself and then get them off the bus and stand in line at the airport to check in.

But on the arrival side, there is no difference.

There was rumour when Jet Blue was added to the list of airlines participating in advance check-in that Northwest would be most likely be next. It was just a guess though, they haven't actually been added to the list yet.

Thanks for the quick responses. That's what I figured. I was hoping not to have to deal with the luggage on the return part as it looks as though I may be taking a quick trip w/ DS 11 in a few weeks. :cool1: DH won't be along to schlepp the luggage for us :rolleyes1 Thanks again!

If I had to guess, I'd say it's likely that NWA will be added soon, because Continental and Delta are both participants, and both are code-share partners with NWA. (Code-sharing means that you could book your flight through one (CO for example), have a flight number from that airline, but actually be on a plane that's operated by another (NW for example), using NWs equipment and staff)

I drive a DME bus and the video that we show on the way to Disney does list Northwest as a participating airline in the resort check in.

NW is the only airline that particpates with BAGS for their remote checkin that doesn't also participate with Disney's ME. It's not a systems issue, I'd think NW could be added at any time.

My (completely uninformed) guess is that WDW wants the participating airlines to pick up some of the cost, and NW is balking. Given the other service cuts NW has put in place over the last year, I'm not surprised.
