NWA-Cooler???

Can I take my cooler-put it on as checked baggage? It is one of the plastic type ones you use for camping-it is the average size one. I was hoping I could use to transport my silk flowers and wedding decorations...no chance they would get smashed in there...then we can use it at the resort.

Yes, you can. I would advise you to seal it with either duct tape or packing tape before checking it. I have a friend who goes fishing in Alaska every year, and always brings back a cooler packed with fish. (I think he packs it in dry ice, but not entirely sure)

Don't seal it w/ duct tape. The airlines all require an agent to visually inspect the contents of an ice chest before accepting it as checked baggage; they want to check that there is no ice or dry ice inside it. After they look, they will tape it up for you, if you ask.

Yes I had planned on leaving it open until they are done peaking inside-then I can tape it up...glad to hear that it won't be a problem

I've started taking a cooler full of drinks with me to Florida now, I just use one of the large Samsonite bag straps to seal the cooler instead of tape. The one trip I've used it so far Delta just asked if there was ice in it, and I told them no and they were good with that, though it's really not hard to open if they wanted to check it.

The problem with taping it up is it still has to be screened by TSA once it's checked ...

Well I would have to tape it as the lid is one of the ones you just set on...you know it doesn't have a latch or anything...I hope they tape it back up if they open it up again..
