Nutty question - Epcot vist and not Magic Kingdom?

I'm planning a DCL and trip to Universal's Harry Potter thing. I REALLY want to go to Epcot. I have't been to WDW since I was a kid (except for one character meal at a resort this year - which I thouroughly enjoyed!!)

Is it crazy to not bring kids to WDW and just take them to Epcot? That seems weird. But my husband and I both retain a certain affection for Epcot from our childhood visits.

Do you have a full day? Like could the kids do 8am to 10pm or whatever the hours are that day? I ask only because you could do MK in the morning, monorail to Epcot around lunch, eat/see the couple rides you want, and then return to MK for the remainder of the day.

If you have your kids and you are not planning on returning for sure then I think you really should take them to Magic Kingdom.

You do you though!

I love Epcot. Better than MK. Have kids been?

Nope. The only thing they have done at Disney was that character meal. Our vacations were generally very simple and nature based. But I must say I was impressed!! One meal was all it took!

In my world, this would never happen but if that is what you want to do, go for it!

That said I too have an affection for Epcot from a childhood trip to Epcot in 1984ish. IMO, it's just not the same anymore. But if your childhood was later, it might feel the same to you.

It was around there I guess. I can't remember exactly how old I was. I know it will be different. I want to see flower and garden. My kids really want to go to Harry Potter at Universal. I think they will love that far more.

But I want to go to Epcot.

Go then! I'd go to Epcot first so they can look forward to Harry Potter instead of wishing they were back with Harry Potter.

We love Epcot. My youngest is 9 now, 7 on our last trip, and Epcot is his favorite park. We had a cast member pixie dust us extra Test Track fastpasses so could ride it a couple of extra times. My kids also explore the World Showcase with the Agent P missions (interactive smart phone app that works with magic bands in select countries. )

I know I'm odd, but we spend more time in Epcot than any other park, including MK. I like MK, but fantasyland feels like a crowded stroller nightmare.

My 14 and 12yo's favorite parks are Epcot and AK and this has been true for some time. We are not going to HS at all on this trip and we are only going to MK for one day (out of 7). The rest of the time is all Epcot and AK.

Not at all, we will be in WDW in late Aug with a 7 night stay and are only going to be in the MK one day, and for me that was probably a half a day too much!..........................

Go for it and enjoy it!!

Not weird - do you.. do what you love. My favorite park is AK, then MK and Epcot and pretty much tied for second. Right now, I totally skip HS.... have for 2 years now. I'm guessing Star Wars will change that eventually but I have no desire to go until things calm down. If they ever do. Although I am intrigued by it...
