I am going crazy! For two days I have has numbness in my lips, tongue and nose. Some on my cheek too, but not as much. It feels like I have been to the dentist and I am just getting the feeling back in that area. What could be causing this?

I have been under an enormous amount of stress for the past month with no end in sight. Could this cause it? Could this be a sign of a stroke? I feel like I could have one at any moment!

I do think stress can cause that tingly/numb feeling.

Then again, i had that as a primary sypmtom for about 5 years once and was told over and over again it was "just stress" when in fact I was very very low on vitamin B. When a doctor finally checked that and had me start taking large doses of B I got so much better.

When you say "numb" does it feel funny or are you actually unable to move? Like, can you smile evenly? Raise eyebrows on both sides of the face? Talk and eat okay?

If not, then I would get to a doctor ASAP--that would seem stroke like, or if it is the left side, possibly related to lyme disease. Actually, if it came on very suddenly I would worry about lyme or an allergic reaction anyway and go in for a check for that soon. Is it warm enough in Alabama that you have any ticks at all this time of year? Have you eaten anything new?

In the mean time it probably would not hurt to add a B-12 supplement to your diet.

I can talk and move fine. It's like a tingle, numbness mainly in my nose and lips. I have also felt it in my cheek, tongue and forehead. It's the weirdest thing. :confused3 My fingers on my right hand felt a little funny a little while ago but they are fine now. I think I am scaring myself.

My first symptoms of Pernicious anemia were tingling/numbness in my hand and foot, which later included most of one arm and then sometimes in my face. After several years I had other issues, but for about two years that was really the only symptom.
I'm sure there are other things that can cause this symptom too. Probably LOTS of things. But, that is one I have experience with anyway.

I hope you figure it out and feel better soon.

Please go see a doctor or go to the emergency room. Do it today-this morning-now. It could be allergies; it could be something way more serious.

I agree 100%! Get yourself to a doctor.

My guess would be leprosy.

I would tell you to take time out to go to the ER and get yourself looked at to be on the safe side to make sure it is not a stroke.

That being said, I am laying money on jaw clenching from stress which is causing those nerves to go haywire.

I cracked one of my fillings from stress and now I need a crown.:badpc:

Could also be shingles. Especially if it's just on one side of your face. Go to your doctor.

It could be any number of things both relatively minor or extremely nefarious. Stop what you are doing right this second and GO IMMEDIATELY TO THE ER (if you haven't done so already). Please let us know how it goes too! Good luck!

I had this happen to me on the right side of my face but it was to the point where I couldn't focus on anything but the tingling. I went to the emergency room, they ruled out a stroke and sent me home because they were stumped. I was sent to a neurologist by my primary care dr and it turns out that it was migraines that I have to be treated for on a daily basis.

Whatever it is I would either go to your dr or the er TODAY because it will not go away on its own.

I was gonna suggest migraine. When mine come on suddenly, I get numb around my nose and mouth. It usually goes away with 8 hrs

Thanks so much! It's better today. I didnt notice it at all until I thought about it and then I got busy and I guess it went away. I still feel a little different in my upper lip and tip of my nose but it's not at all like yesterday. I am going to the Dr. tomorrow so I will ask him about it then.

For me it usually happens before I start having problems with my asthma. One of my warning signs of an asthma attack is a headache and numbness and tingling in my face.

One day in 2008 I woke up and the right side of my face was pins and needles. I was diagnosed with MS.

You need to see a doctor.

Call me crazy, but a web site devoted to Disney, is not where I'd get my diagnosis. Maybe it's just me, but probably we are not equipped to diagnose your condition.
