certain requests....

we arrive next week...when I booked we requested Tokelau and Tahiti based on research here....obviously no guarantees...hoping we'll be Tokelau because of quiet pool....

My parents are also going and our ressies are linked I think I requested adjoining which we'd really like....ideally we'd get ground floor too so adults can hang out on patio together while kids sleep in room.......but I don't see that noted anywhere...

I know there are no guarantees....but is there a way to boost your odds? Any tips??

And I know Tahiti is close to TTC but man it looks so far....

What would you do?? Thanks so much....Last time we were 3 in a row at POP first floor facing quiet pool in 50's ..... perfect!

Our kids are 8,6,5 if it matters and can't wait to swim....although i'm sure they'll prefer the big pool but before bed quiet would be nice too....

So if there's a number to call and when I should call or what advice might you have?? thanks...

I will make the most of whatever, I just would hate to not have tried.

There's really nothing more you can do once CRO has noted your requests. Most of the time you will get them. You may want to try arriving as early as you can, but again, this isn't policy.

Regarding the distance between TTC and Tahiti, it's much closer than it looks.

Have a great trip!

Call the day before you leave 407 824 2000. Ask to speak to a room assignor. I have done this in the past and they are able to tell me what area I have been assigned to and I then give them my specific requests. We have been very lucky to get what we have asked for and the room assignors are generally very nice to work with over the phone.

I have never heard of doing this before. do many people do it? It sounds like a great idea.

I would suggest calling 407-824-2000 and faxing 407-824-3174 3-4 days prior to your arrival. It's always best to have your requests noted on your reservation, but I see nothing wrong with following up. Even though you have the direct number for the Poly, it will go through a central call answering service. They could connect you to the room assignor at the Poly, or you could end up with general customer service who will just make sure that your reservation has the info on it. If you call, you may want to be sure of who you are connected to. Faxing will go right to the resort, but I know others have said there's no guarantee that they are looked at.

One to thing to keep in mind, is the terminology you use when making your request. I notice that you used the word "adjoining", which in hotel speak, simply means rooms that are side by side. I think you may actually want "connecting", which indicates that there is an interior door that can be opened between the two rooms.

I actually mean 'adjoining' because we don't have to be connecting [door in between] that would be nice but not necessary...but we hope to be next door to each other.....

We arrive on Tuesday mid-morning....I guess I'll call later today or tomorrow...hopefully someone assigns on weekends.

They have room assigners working 7 days a week. On each day, they normally are blocking 4 days out, so calling 4 days before your arrival is ideal :thumbsup2

I feel better now...

Just called and asked for a room assigner, was transferred to Lauren. She was very sweet. Obviously they might not be able to honor all our requests but she did say we'd be next door to each other and she'd do her best.

I'll let you know how it goes.

I feel like I at least gave it my best effort! :O)

I really hate to be a negative nellie here, really I do. But....there was a point where Disney room assigners were getting so many faxes, with room requests on them, that many assigners now just toss the fax out, never looking at it. I can only imagine what will happen if a ton of people start trying to phone the poor assigners.
Here's the issue...while someone can tell you the 'area' you are in, no one can promise it. Let's say that you want two rooms, side by side, ground level in Tahiti. Well, if there are others, who check in before you, that have asked for similar requests or even just a variation of that request, they will get it. I have been assigned a room, on several occasions, and been able to change to a different room. So, until your room keys are handed to you, you do not have a particular room.
You are best off to just put your requests in your original room reservation. Or call to have something added. And try to limit the requests you make....if you go with adjoining rooms, ground level, Tahiti, then you stand a much less chance of getting close to what you ask for. Yes, you may be really lucky and get what you want...depending on the time of year and the number of empty rooms.
Just wanted to 'put it out there'...I hate to see anyone upset when they don't get what they have their hearts set on. Hope your trip is wonderful!!!

Another thing to consider is the day you are checking in. If you check in on a day that very few are checking out on the pool of available rooms to assign are small.

We have run into this when checking in the middle of the week when the majority of guests check in and out on the weekend. Actually, this is how we ended up with a lagoon view room at the Poly and a suite at the Cont., so sometimes it can work to your advantage, lol!

From our experience at the Poly, we have found that arriving and checking into the hotel at an early time before the afternoon crush helps. A few weeks ago we landed around 10:30 AM and got to the Poly around 11:30 AM to check in. We had no problems getting our request and we were totally pleased. I think the earlier you can check in the better the chance of getting your room request. I realize your arrival is based on your flight, but it is something to keep in mind for next time.:) Good luck and have tons of fun!

That's a very good point. Unlike the values, I don't think the deluxes do a lot of room assignments ahead of time. Whenever we've checked into the GF, they give us a list of rooms out of available inventory to choose from. The earlier we arrive, the more choices we seem to have.
