I am hopping mad.. Disney changed my lobby level request to ground floor.. Why?. I have no idea

I'm at 29 days today until we leave on vacay. We will be stopping in Ga to visit new nephew. Then to Jax for a wedding on the 5th then on to Kidani for a great time:). That means I have 29 days to heal from my emergency gallbladder surgery I had last week. Here's hopping for a speedy recovery because I will be sad if I can't ride my favorite rides.

I had emergency gall bladder surgery two months before our trip last year. It didn't stop me from any rides, but I did get tired a bit easier. You should be ok.

I'm sorry I haven't gone through all 100+ pages but we are considering a 4 day stay here in Sept.
I don't mind booking Savanna view if we will definitely see animals but has anyone booked SV and still didn't see any? My ds16 is very skeptical.
I'd love to be able to sip my morning coffee on the balcony & watch giraffes & zebras walk by.
We are most likely renting DVC points but can't decide between Jambo & Kidani. Maybe I should ask this specifically on the DVC boards but if anyone has experience on this I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks!!:goodvibes

I have stayed in 5 different room on DVC points, and only the pool view did not offer animals every day, morning, afternoon and evening.

They are out there are you can see them and enjoy them, early morning is the best for us, and we enjoyed them.

Five days!!!

Looks like there are lots of DISers there now...hope everyone is having a great time.

I'm ten days behind you and I'm going nuts with excitement :dance3:

You will definitely see animals! I think the people that mention not seeing animals may be commando types who are never in their rooms but look out the window once a day and don't see anything and are disappointed.

Also, I've never stayed at Kidani but when it first opened a few Jambo CMs said that Pembe Savanna over at Kidani is "the best one" ;) Arusha at Jambo is my favorite.

That's odd. You saw this on-line? Hope you get the area you want.

I just posted a picture a few pages back, in our Jambo Arusha savanna view, we didn't see too many animals in the morning, but every afternoon like 2-7 was like nothing you could imagine. Like a dozen or more animals at a time almost all the time.

Does anyone know what time the marshmallow roast and folk story time starts are for June? Want to be sure we catch those! TIA

We came back from our first trip to AKV-Jambo on 5/26. We were at BCV 5/17-5/24 and then at AKV-Jambo from 5/24-5/26. I fell in LOVE. I wasn't surprised by my reaction but I was amazed by my husband's and daughter's reactions. They also were in LOVE. DD (age 11) is willing to give up Stormalong Bay to stay here next year and that is really saying something.

We loved the beautiful savannas, the animals, the staff, the architecture. My daughter didn't care for the slide at Jambo, but thought the one at Kidani was decent (remember she's used to the Flying Jib slide). She loved the splash area though and I got some great pix of her acting like a goofball there.

My husband who NEVER spends time on the balcony (he works outside all the time) spent HOURS on our balcony. Our only regret was that we were only there for two nights.

I always exchange into Disney through RCI so I've already got my ongoing search in for AKV and BCV. We are hoping to score AKV again. That being said... we've got it bad for Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Amazing report.
I can not wait to see this resort for myself. Can you post some pics?

Looks like for May the storytelling was at 6:30 and campfire at 7pm. But there are lots of other little storytelling opportunities as well, the activities are fab!

You can see the May stuff at themouseforless and choosing the AKL hotel, then activities. I've been checking regularly to see when June will be up, probably any day!

I've been a few times and almost always do Savannah view, it's insanely fabulous if you can! I think as long as everyone remembers that this is where the animals LIVE. Altogether. In one area. Then it is easy to understand why you don't have 100 animals outside your patio at any given time. But I can't think of a time we've had nothing. This last visit at Kidani, we always had an ostrich friend in the AM and ankole cattle hanging out under our trees all day. The giraffe, birds, and zebra would follow the feed truck and tended to be near us when the stations were being loaded and for a bit after. Giraffe about 10 ish and evening about 6pm, zebra later and sometimes we would see them playing in the dark as we enjoyed an adult beverage on the patio.

As for Jambo vs Kidani, I had always done Jambo until this last trip. I was afraid we would miss the noise and activities at the main house. But the reality is that Kidani was a bit quieter with a pool my little kids enjoyed more. And the shuttle between the two houses ran every 10 mins or so if we wanted to do an activity or eat at one of their restaurants. It was so easy. Loved it so much I think they are both perfection. Just depends on what you guys are looking for. If quieter, Kidani. If more "in the action", Jambo might suit you better. Check out the restaurants and activities and try one. Then get addicted, return shortly following and try the other! Seems to be how it works! Hahaha. :rotfl2:

:wizard: Awesome, awesome, awesome :thumbsup2 This is great to hear! I'm so happy for you and your family. :wizard:
It's so fun to fall in love with a new resort.
For 6 years we stayed only at the GF. Then I watched the Samantha Brown/Travel Channel show on AKL. I booked a CL stay and I too fell in LOVE. We have several "favorite" resorts at WDW - but AKL has my heart :lovestruc

Thanks RapunzelsGoodMom!!
I'll keep checking that link too. I am thinking the timing shouldn't be too much different than May.

Just did online check in this morning!! Booked pool view and requested a king bed room, zebra trail when booked. Requested high floor and sunset savannah online.
