is buying an AP. It's literally burning a hole in my pocket. I had to get one more trip in before Nov 21 (expiration) to get my money's worth, so now I spent $700 on flights and $850 for hotel and god knows how much on rental...only because this trip is FREE.

Gee i thought it was my wife and 3 daughters:p lol Have a great trip,You only live once! And you cant take it with you........

so do you think it is not worth it( subjective I know)?...I'm trying to decide although my husband is all for it..we are staying at FW so even if we get an AP rate we will not have "paid " for it in savings( the 10% off here and there may add up but not to $90 each) we would like to make another trip with the kids next winter and that would more than make up for it as we could get Ap rooms for all then but I can not decide if I should just take my $90 per pass and run! ( that would be cirque tickets now!)

That's funny... and only because it's true! Someone has called them the "talking" AP's because they talk you into making just one more trip.

In a minor variation on the theme, the refillable mugs may have been a Disney promotion "talking" to prior guests: "Go back to the World, all your coffee and soda are FREE!" So they save $50 for the week while spending thousands. That's a good deal for Disney and a good deal for the mug (and AP) reusers. ::yes:: ::MickeyMo

Funny, we've experienced the same phenomenon. Not quite as bad for us, though, because we very happily stay offsite so under $300 for a week's hotel. And we often drive down so only about $200 in travel expenses, no airfare and no rental car to pay for.

My advice - get a nice cheap offsite room and enjoy your time in the parks without busting the budget quite so much.

Yep! Gotta make sure and squeeze in as many "free" trips as possible!!!!!!!!!LOL I know the feeling well:jester:

I agree that the AP passes are a budget buster because you feel you have to use them to get your money's worth within a year. A better way I've found is to buy 7 day park hopper passes, the cost per day is less, and you probably won't use all 7 days in one trip. The unused portions are good forever so you don't feel you have to take your next trip just to get your money's worth.

Well, we are going down for 5 days only because that's all the time off my husband has left for the year...so we don't have time to drive (I've driven down on 2 trips this year already) Also, we usually stay at off-site priceline rooms (We've lucked into the Dolphin twice for about $60 per night) However, this time I called for an AP discount at AKL for savanah room and they still had discounts left so that's where I booked. However, I may yet regain my budget-mindedness and bid on priceline and cancel the AKL.

DH and I are also members of the "We have to go agian to get our money's worth out of the AP club." LOL

I was considering the AP just b/c I go every year (at least once). I use it to go in per say august this year and the next year in june or whatever. So to me it isn't totally free but the park tickets are the biggest chuck out of my vacation planning. All I'll need the 2nd year in hotel, amtrak and spending money.

My other option was the 7 day. Do each park one year and combine epcot and AK in another. :bounce: :bounce:
