Since then they's been verifying their results to make sure it wasn't a fluke, but it looks genuine. They haven't been able to replicate the results, but it's a huge step forward!

Lots of really cool research going on in that area. There are quite a few private companies doing research in this area which increases the likelihood of more advances towards an economically practical production of energy in this fashion.
