Saw this today and thought I would share it. I'm staying there with my family soon so will sensibly take the relevant precautions. I expect some levels of thievery are to be expected in such a large site that has so many hotels but it is always wise to prevent these things if you can by using safes and never leaving valuables unattended.
"Last July myself, my partner, 3 year old and two friends stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. Having being left some money, I wanted something which would be memorable for my son and a good chance to have some much needed fun. On arrival at the Newport Bay we found the staff very helpful, quick at check in and and friendly. The rooms were nice and spacious but were rather dated considering the price we paid (which was a hell of a lot). I never had any problems with facilities in the rooms but my friends couldn't get their safety deposit box to work but after numerous attempts by staff this was finally rectified. One point to mention is be careful not to leave anything valuable in your room on its own for any length of time. The cleaners stole my partner's trainers (not expensive, just gola) and son's pyjama bottoms (!) whilst we were visiting Paris for the day. My partner had been wearing his sandals during the day but when we arrived back in the evening the weather had turned much colder so he decided he wanted to wear his trainers which were no where to be seen. We got our friends to double check and then went down to reception. You'd think that might have been an outlandish accusation but the staff weren't in the slightest bit surprised. We spoke to the cleaning supervisor that told us to give her a couple of hours which we did to be told they were still missing. She then took us over to the Disney Park to try and buy a pair to replace them. Unfortunately for her, my partner isn't into trainers with Mickey and Minnie Mouse on them! So having come back empty handed she proceeded to take our address in UK just in case they turned up which was quite bizarre because they suddenly appeared the next day whilst we were in the park (along with the pyjama bottoms) I also stupidly left my mobile unattended in the room for 10 mins whilst the cleaners were in and guess what? it went walkies as well.
Apart from the above fiasco, the hotel was huge, had a lovely swimming pool, great access to the park and a good shop.
Whilst staying at the Disneyland, we tended to go for the buffet style restaurants at this hotel in particular. This was because my son is an extremely fussy eater, can't understand he has to wait and it was handy. The choice of food was good but I will mention that I got food poisoning on the last night so be very careful what you choose.
All in all, apart from the problems we had a great holiday. If we return, I may look at somewhere else on the site to stay in as I didn't think the hotel lived up it's price".
I'm sure this is isolated rather than common place. On a positive note there have been some recent reviews of the NPB that have been very positive, so not all bad, eh?
