Day 3 Continued at Epcot

After hanging out in the Land/Nemo area at Epcot, we decided to make our way over to the World Showcase. We were near the lake when it started pouring. This was our first Florida thunderstorm, and it was probably the worst of the week. We took shelter in a shop near the boat dock and watched the rain for a few minutes. We saw a boat coming, so we ran to it and got on just in time. :woohoo:

Here is DBF on the boat, lookin a little wet!

It was lucky that we caught this boat, because it was shut down after our ride due to the inclement weather. Once we got to the next dock we made a beeline to Germany. By this time the rain was *really really really* heavy. So, in order to warm up we decided to....

DSCF0577.jpg
do the wine tasting in Germany! I don't know what we were thinking because neither of us are fans of sweet German wines, but it was still fun. The CM was very friendly and taught us a few German words. We did two flights (to share together), so we got to try all 6 wines for around $20. The price seems a bit high, but we did get to try ice wine which is pretty pricey per bottle, so it was worth it.

Pouring rain!

The funny thing to watch during our wine tasting was a little girl who was outside in the pouring rain spinning around in circles. It was almost like she had never experienced rain before? :confused3 I'm all for having fun, but not for dealing with soaked clothes for the rest of the day! To each their own I guess.

DBF lookin sad!

We ran across to the quick service in Germany to get some Spaten Oktoberfest beer and a sausage to share. Yum!!!

After the rain kept on going, we gave in and bought ourselves some ponchos. I was kicking myself because I had ponchos back in our hotel room, and stupidly didn't bring them along that day. Now we just have an excess of ponchos at home. :rolleyes1

On to Italy!

DBF gave in to the rain Gods.

In Italy we decided to split a glass of my favorite dessert champagne! It's called Rosa Regale, and it's absolutely positively delicious. I probably could have had my own glass!

Pit stop in America...

Pretty bottles of sake in Japan.

We enjoyed talking with a CM in Japan. She thought it was cool that we knew about a lot of the merchandise in the shop, as was even more excited when we mentioned "Daiso"-- a Japanese store close to our home, and is a chain store in Japan. We picked up some wasabi peas here...mmmm!!

DSCF0604.jpg
I'm not sure if this is the best look for DBF. I loved this shop in France... it smelled so yummy! I was very tempted to buy some perfume... maybe next time! I did keep the perfume strip and it still smells like Epcot :goodvibes

Acting silly in Canada...
DSCF0609.jpg

Whew...this is getting long! I'm gonna have to stop here for the night, but there's still much more to come for this day! Hope you all had a great weekend!! :wizard:

:lmao: I like your words: "acting silly in Canada"...after the wine tasting, the beer in Germany, and then your favorite wine, is there any wonder that your DBF "gave in" to the rain and you found yourself acting silly?

These are some great memories, even with the rain! ;)

Typhoon Lagoon sounds so fun. We've never made it to a water park but when my DS gets older I"m sure we will.

I love your DBF with the rain Gods! :)

What a fun birthday this was for you!!

Just wanted to post a very short and joyful update! Hotwire has refunded us for the 6 nights that we did not stay at :scared1:Baymont:scared1:! It took a couple of tries, but with my "photo evidence", they finally decided to refund us!

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

So, we just got back some $$$ and we'll turn them into Disney dollars.

Definitely disgusting! I kept feeling sick when I had to describe it to what seemed like a million Hotwire employees.

That is the BEST news! Good for you! (and good job taking all those pics for evidence!)
Thank goodness I took the pictures...I think that they grossed out the hotwire workers!

It's funny how we can plan ahead and bring ponchos from home(in our case, over 2000 miles!) and forget them when it's a rainy day! lol! Thanks for joining in!

I know! I had one for all 5 of us & they were all left in the room!

Day 3 Continued

After acting silly (after a few drinks) in the World Showcase, we headed back over to the Land with our Soarin' Fastpasses. We got there a few minutes early(literally 6:59, and our fastpasses were for 7 pm.) We handed them over the CM, and she refused them. :confused3 This isn't a complaint...but it was sort of embarrassing. She looked at her watch and said we were too early. I can understand that we were early by 30 seconds, and it wasn't on purpose or us trying to be deceptive, but there were no people in line. After stepping aside for 30 seconds, the same CM gave us one of the...not sure what it's called, but line estimator? Anyway, we delivered it to the CM at the end of the line....and off we were to Soarin'. I wish I would've know that this would be a mistake. :scared1:

I went on California Adventure's version of Soarin' about 6 or 7 years ago, and I really don't remember it going so high off the ground. I have a little fear of heights, and DBF has a worse fear of heights. Unfortunately, we ended up in the front row, the highest, and both of us felt really sick as soon as we went up in the air. The scenery and video is absolutely stunning, but unfortunately we both couldn't help but think about how high up we were. :(

A further back row/lower height would have been much better for the both of us. So, I don't think that Soarin' is in the near future for either of us. Oh well, live and learn!

Here are a few more World Showcase pics:

I had to rep my heritage!

DSCF0629.jpg
Maelstrom! Very fun ride! Except the annoying blind date behind us. I felt bad for the girl because the guy would not shut up about his ex girlfriend. I think DBF and I heard his whole life story while waiting in line!

DSCF0615.jpg
DBF in Mexico....our favorite pavilion! I loved the "night" theme with the lights...very romantic.

And with Mexico, we were done with Epcot for the evening. I had such a fun birthday. I've made a habit of escaping for all of my birthdays for the past 3 years, and WDW was by far the best time. It's a beautiful escape :)

We headed back to Pop, filled up our mugs, and headed to bed!

Next Up: a sunny Friday at Disney's Hollywood Studios!

I am so sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at Soarin. We were the 2nd to last row & loved it. Maybe explain to the CM the fear & request a backrow? So glad to hear that you had a happy birthday!!!

Did you get told "happy birthday" a million times? My son did & it got to the point he would say "thank you" & would roll his eyes lol, he's only 10

I definitely think that if we(probably just me though) do it again, I'll request for the lowest row possible. :goodvibes I love the visuals, especially since it's of my home state, California! We just could not stand the feeling of being so high up. It still makes me dizzy. Plus, the adorable little girl next to me kept leaning wayyyyy forward, and I felt like grabbing her and pulling her back the whole time! Oh well, I'm glad we tried it at WDW.

Yes...I got quite a bit of birthday attention...and there's more to come, one experience that I was *very* embarrassed during...so keep reading to hear about it! hehe. And, I can sympathize with your 10 yr. old DS :-)

The visuals & the smells were awesome! I was all "ooooooh" and "ahhhhh" until Tink came on the screen & it was MK & I screamed "it's Disney!!!":lmao:

I can't wait to hear more!!!

Just caught your last two updates! Yum to Germany - the wine, food, and beer. Looks like a great respite from the rain. You really made you way around the world showcase nicely.

sorry you didn't love Soarin. You definitely can not think about how high you are or its a it freaky.

Congrats for getting a refund for the Baymont Inn, That is really great news!

Sorry for the lack of updates in the past few days everyone.... I started a new job and it's keeping me really busy. I'll definitely update this weekend :)
