"Now we know how Tom Hanks felt in Cast Away" A Pop Century Resort and WDW June TR!

I think that's what makes WDW so special...there are so many resorts to choose from, and I think everyone can find their own "home." :goodvibes

Even though Hotwire's policy is no refunds? :-/ I'll have my DBF call B of A to protest the charge. Should we provide pictures, etc? Protest the star rating? Hotwire said that it's a 3* hotel, and it definitely wasn't.

Yes, you can file a claim as 'not as described' for goods and services. That hotel was def 'not as described'! I would try and speak right with Hotwire too. Those pics you showed are more than enough evidence to prove that place should NOT be considered to even be on hotwire's website!

Ok, you've officially motivated me! Thank you!! :goodvibes

I am gearing up for a trip to POP in October - so considering along for the ride! popcorn::

HEY GIRL!!! I'm joining in!

That baby gorilla is the CUTEST THING EVER. I can't stop staring at the picture. I just want to give it a big hug!!

And goats on a playground? So weird. Yet so amazing.

I'm so sorry that your first hotel was such a dump. I don't know how you guys made it through the night. I would have slept in the car! :rotfl:

Darn, I was loving your TR until you changed to Photobucket. Our company blocks out Photobucket pictures and I was so enjoying your TR b/c we love Pop also. Oh well, I'll still keep reading without the pictures.:sad2:

The baby gorilla was one of the cutest things I've ever seen. I don't blame the goats for chilling out on the playground, I'd want to get away from children in the "petting zoo" too. Thanks for joining in!

:( Can you recommend another photo website?

Loving the report so far (well, except for the pictures of the first hotel....trying to keep my breakfast down - ugh!)

I love POP!! So glad y'all got to stay there.
Can't wait for more....

It's so wonderful to hear a story where Disney made it magical for you to go from one extreme (bad room) to another!! And, of course, thanks for sharing those *shudder* pictures...!

I also love how your DBF is putting the "relax" in your vacation -- it is SO easy to get wound up and try to do everything, as soon as possible!!

hey i'm here!! alrighty, going back to catch up!!

So sorry to hear about your first night at that awful hotel but I’m glad everything started looking up when you arrived at POP…and I’m glad you extended your stay there! Those pics of the Baymont are just nasty!! Bleh! Awww super cute pic of the baby gorilla!! LOL! Enjoying all your pics and updates so far! Can’t wait to see what happens on your birthday!

Sorry for the nasty pictures, lol! I was worried that the grossness of Baymont was all in my head, so it's nice to know that even the pictures can make people feel sick! Thanks for joining in :-) I promise, no more icky pictures.

And, he's usually the one who's wound up and fast-paced at home...talk about a role reversal! I'm glad we didn't get a chance to do "everything" because that gives me enough reasons to plan our next trip!..and our next one..because one can never really experience everything in WDW. ;) Thanks for joining in!

Hey! Thanks for joining in! I've really been enjoying your TR! Aren't Disney birthdays the best? I'm definitely glad that I extended our vacation at POP... I just couldn't risk it to end up in another roach motel like Baymont :scared1: and we ended up loving POP too much... I guess we've been converted to on-site fans!

I'll try to update later on tonight. We're headed over to DBF's dad's house for a late lunch...and then maybe Toy Story 3!!! Thanks again everyone for reading :-)

Awesome picture of the new baby! And I have never seen a cheetah on Kilimanjaro! Lucky!

Day 3: June 3, 2010: My BIRTHDAY!!

This was a beautiful place to wake up to....
DSCF0522.jpg

This morning we woke up extra early to head to early magic hours at Typhoon Lagoon! I had been so excited to visit this water park, and it was exactly how I remembered it from nearly ten years ago! The extra hour in the water park was amazing!! We found a nice lounge chair near the wave pool and immediately got into the waves. This was when my TR title quote came about, because my DBF thought these waves were very authentic. :wizard:

To my complete surprise, DBF was up for riding water slides! First we rode Mayday and Keel haul falls...so fun! These are both nice and easy going intertube slides, so not scary in the least. Then...:scared1: DBF wanted to ride Humunga Kowabunga :scared1: This was probably the low-point of my trip. I don't think I've ever wanted a "ride" to end more than that one! Free-falling down 242 feet is not my idea of fun....Talk about major heart attack.

We skipped storm slides for this day, especially after experiencing kowabunga! We headed over to the shark reef for our first snorkel experience. At first when we got into the water, I panicked a bit and had to grab onto the rock in the middle. After I realized that I could actually float and breathe at the same time , I did ok! DBF *loved* this, and we ended up going for another round!

As you can probably tell, we were making a full circle around the park...so, what's next? Crush n' gusher of course! I had read a lot about this...and left out that it's called a "water roller coaster" to my DBF, because then he never would have tried it. We rode 2 out of the three slides and had a lot of fun! We couldn't believe some of these dips :scared1: but they were really fun. Here's a valuable tip that our first CM failed to tell us.... lift up your bootie! It hurts to let it touch the slide...ouch!

After all of this action, it was already 9 am! We lounged in castaway creek for awhile, and took in the wave pool for awhile longer. Those waves are *reallllyyy* powerful! By 10 am, we were ready to head out. DBF wanted to head to the Nike outlet to buy some more sandals (this would be a theme of our trip, with DBF now a self titled "sandal person").

Does anyone else find Kissimee really hard to get around in? Thank goodness for WDW transportation, because when we were in our car, we were lost! Before we found the Nike outlet...we found something that only we would be excited about...

CiCi's Pizza!!!!! They play commercials all the time, and there is not one anywhere near us! In fact, there's only 1 in California. Anyway, this was a real treat for us. :yay:

Still in my swimsuit and cover up :-) Notice my wristband from early entry into Typhoon Lagoon!

Next up: Day 3 continued....a rainy day at Epcot

Hi!!! Lovin' your TR so far! We are staying at POP for the first time this Oct. so I'm really excited you loved it so much. We've never done Value before and I'm a bit nervous, but now I'm getting more excited. Can't wait to read more!

Don't be nervous! I had seen Pop online and been a bit hesistant because it seemed way over the top. But, really, this resort is clean, fun, and relaxing! I reccomend the 50's buildings because they're a little more quiet, and very close to the lake. Thanks for joining in!!! I hope you do a TR! :goodvibes

Day 3 Continued: My birthday at Epcot!

DSCF0540.jpg
A must-do picture! This was around 1 pm. We had napped a bit after our busy morning, and decided to do an afternoon at Epcot. :-)

DSCF0539.jpg
DBF's first time at Epcot!!

Our major plan for today was to tour the countries, and drink a bit in celebration of my birthday! For the first bit of the afternoon, we hit up The Land. First we grabbed FP's for Soarin' for 7 pm! I was nervous about this one, but didn't let on to DBF. I hadn't really read about Living with the Land before going, but we ended up loving it! I know it's slow moving...but, it's relaxing and actually really interesting. We liked looking for the hidden Mickey's!

Love DBF's expression.

And then, we were on to Nemo! We didn't get to do the Nemo ride last year at DL so we were excited for this one! It was fun...but not exciting. ;)

I really need to stop taking pictures on rides!!

Next, we were off to the countries.....but....rain! Pouring Florida rain!

To be continued... ;)

Looks like you guys are having a blast. Typhoon Lagoon is my favorite water park. The first time I went in the shark tank(:) ) my best friend panicked too. IT's the whole breathing through a straw thing that got to her. Thank good ness for the rock:rotfl:

You did a lot this day!! I have never been to one of the water parks, and that sounds like fun (I'm not one for the really scary drops, myself)! Great shots of the rides! :3dglasses

Great Morning at Typhoon Lagoon! Wow - you guys got to every ride in about 2 hrs. the last time I went to TL my son was 13. He loved Crush n Gusher because I am just the right weight to make him air borne on the bumps! :rotfl:

Right, thank goodness for that rock! I was worried that I'd have to be rescued by the lifeguard :sad1:, but it turned out ok! I loved the feeling of being able to float in the saltwater without any effort.

We did do a lot! In retrospect, maybe too much! You should really check out Typhoon Lagoon. It's less about the thrills and more about the scenery. Compared to non-Disney water parks.... it's just amazing. :wizard: It's great for even just a couple of hours like what we did. :)

The extra hour was *incredibly* worth it! I think there were about a hundred of us lined up in the morning, and the water park was totally empty. :cheer2: It was nice to be able to run up the stairs to the slides and walk right on. We were air borne on the bumps too! Weeeee!
