Sorry about the bad night Donnie. I feel bad when we have to check in that late(loud trailer hitch noise, diesel truck, unloading golf carts) . As you know my stories well sometimes traveling from Tx. things don't always go as planed.

As you're aware, I had the similar experience in the 2000 loop in November. Doors slamming, kids screaming, car horns going off - all in the middle of the night (you should have heard it during the day). It always seemed like the other loops were a lot quieter when I was over there.

I was thinking of splurging and heading down this weekend... and then I realized that 1) It was over $100/night and 2) It would be slam packed most likely and even louder than early November.

I'm done with the 2000 loop for just that reason, I think. Sorry you didn't get any sleep!

It's people like that that always tick me off. It's like they forget that there are also other people in the world that don't always share taking it from other people like them.
This is one of the reasons why we go to private land during most of the year we find in Acreage for sale and I haven't turned back since. We only go to the more popular places on occasion and that has turned out pretty well so far.

My Duramax is pretty quiet when she is warmed up but I had no extension cord to plug her in so when I cranked her up she rattled just as good as a Powerstroke or Cummins. I decided it needed about the 30 minutes it took me to break down for her to warm up and give my neighbor a little rumble to enjoy the sunrise with.

Wow - that was plenty rude. I can understand that someone might need to set up at 2 am, but I would think in that situation you'd do your best to do it quietly (and with a flash light rather than car lights).

I rode my bike through the 2000 loop the day before yesterday and noticed how empty it was. Most of the occupied sites seemed to be near the entrance to the loop - folks weren't spread out much. I assumed it was the cold weather that was keeping the tents and popups away- I had no idea that a partial was going for over $100 a night. I guess I shouldn't be surprised - we're paying around $113 for a full hookup by the time the taxes are added in.

Sorry you had a bad stay, Donnie.

We were honestly nervous about the hybrid our first trip to the Fort in '06 - especially since the end we slept on was the one facing the street.

We were in 500 that year and I gotta say it was fine! We stayed in 300 the next 3 times with the hybrid and really never had a big problem with noise.

Maybe we lucked out, but the only noise we really heard was kids out and about around 8am... but we just considered that our wake up call.

Gotta say it definitely helped to have the fan or a/c running - even when it came to enough white noise so that the dogs couldn't hear anything outside. But if you're a light sleeper, or the MK launch whistle startles you (LOL), it might not be for you.

My inlaws got a hybrid a few years ago solely because we had one ...even though we warned them about the noise (they camp in all kinds of wacky places - near highways, in big fields with lots of other people ...don't ask)

Well guess what? 99% of the time they don't open up their tent ends and sleep in the dinette!

I have read alot on here latley about disboarders getting upset with the increase in rates. I have to say over a $100 a night for the 2000 loop is really insane. I can't understand. My wife and I try to book all our vacations as early as we can for the following year since we work together and have to really stragically plan our time off. We usually make 4 or 5 trips to the fort a year, most long weekends. We were a little slow this month starting to book weekends for next year. I was very surprised when I got on the reservartion website to see no premium sites available for the weekends in Jan. or Feb. Is this one of the pain in the rears about the online reservation system? Is there truly more sites available than they will let you book. I really think something is going on with Disney (the Fort) these days. Sometimes it seems like they over book to get the almighty dollar and other times it looks as if they don't care about renting all the sites. Maybe that's why a partial is over a $100 bucks. We are fortunate in this terrible economy we still have good jobs and can afford the premiums most of the time (the wife HATES the cochina sand). I guess somone at Disney must still consider all of us trailer trash and thinks by raising the rates high enough could justify less campers and pave the way for a DVC. Just my 2cents. Sorry to hear about your awful night Donnie. As we spoke before, things seem to go further to hell in a handbasket at times at the fort

Give a helping hand. I don't think they planned to be rude but just to set up quickly, maybe a room would have been a better choice for them.

They are at $100 a night for the same reason a spot at a campground in Myrtle Beach goes from $44 a night in May to $68 a night in June-August..FOR 4 PEOPLE. People will pay it!! It's in season. I think the FORT is a much better bargain.

While in a pop up in Dec 2000 with similar weather, we lost the heater. Only one ceramic block heater. Was miserable, I actually went into comfort station to get warm.

Al keeps stall #2 at a comfy 74.

I couldn't agree with you more about higher rates during peak times. We live in Florida and know all about increases in everything during "Season" As I stated in another thread, Disney can charge anything they want and people will pay it. Good example is the new Kennel. IMHO, the new kennel is a joke especially at $75 per day for your pet to have story time and flat screen TV's, but who would have thought the first week of opening, they were sold out. Go figure

I just booked for Columbus Day Weekend on a premium site. We book premium to give DH more room to manuever the 5th wheel. Have to say $76/79 per night is a little steep. However, I have paid more than that for some really cruddy hotel rooms. This way I have all my own stuff around me and can cook a few meals to keep costs down.
