...I need some info on the resort. We stayed there 1 time before, but I can't remember the answer to these questions. TIA!!

1- Is the main pool the only pool...are there no quiet pools (I know there is also a pool over on the beach as well)?

2- Is there only 1 place to do laundry (in case we are ever in a studio)?

3- How many studios, 1BRs and 2BRs are there?

There are 2 pools on by food place, community hall.this is the pool hay has a hot tub and slide. It is very busy or at least in August.the other pool is by the beach house and did not see anyone in it.. Only stayed in a 2bed. It was plenty of room for 8 of us I just wish there were more places to store items where the sofa was. The balcony was great to have breakfast and lunch..

Yes, there is only the one place to do laundry, but it's always been empty whenever I've been there, so apparently there isn't a need for more. I know there are 21 each of 1 BRs and studios-16 in the main lodge and attached building 12, with the other 5 on the first floors of buildings 16, 18, 19, 28, and 30. All 1 BRs and studios are lock-offs.

Wow...1,2,3...all questions answered...thanks!!!

Would it be easier to get a 2BR instead of 2 studios?

Most likely, since although I don't know how many 2 BRs there are, I can tell you there are way more than 21. Besides, I was in a studio there for a week once, and not that I'm spoiled or anything;) but I can give you about 99 reasons why 2 BRs are better (well, not quite 99 but you get the idea).

Yeah...I was thinking that too...just wanted to conserve points...but the kitchen, laundry and jetted tub...I just can't give up.

Congratulations on getting some HHI points!

As others have posted there are two pools available to HHI guests. There is the main pool, called the Big Dipper . . .

. . . and the pool at the beach house, which is in the shape of the letter H (mere coincidence, I'm sure) . . .

There is a quick service eatery at the Beach House . . .

. . . and another quick service eatery called Tide Me Over, next to the Big Dipper main pool. I don't have a photo of Tide Me Over, but here is a photo of one of the chairs in the outdoor eating area by Tide Me Over:

I'm sure you'll have fun at HHI. The CMs at HHI are some of the best CMs in the entire DVC system.

Just wanted to add that if you are an owner there getting the 2 studios will be a whole lot easier than if you were calling at 7 months. We often get a one bedroom and have no problem doing so b/c of calling at 11 months out for summer time.

However last trip we did a two bedroom and going forward we are not spoiled and will be booking only 2 bedrooms!!

Congrats on HHI! I think you had a lot of questions answered. personally if it was within your point budget and available i would opt for the 2 bedroom. that;'s just my preference. I like the full kitchen and space, we find it helpful and we use it more in a place like HH then at WDW.

We just added on a Hilton Head Island last year! We had never stayed there, but after reading so many great reviews, and looking for a great place to 'just get away' - we thought that Hilton Head would be perfect. We had tried to book several times but could never get anything.

Looking back, I think we may have been a little crazy having never been there before - BUT after our first two stays.... we made the right decision!

We were originally looking for a contract that we could bank, use, and borrow to use every three years or so. But a contract of that size, with our use year proved impossible to find - so we expanded our search a little...

.........................and accidentally.....

....... ended up with our largest DVC contract :confused3

How did THAT happen? :sad2:

:lmao:

A great price on a loaded contract was too much to turn down - we ended up paying $41.78 per point. So we were all over that!

Anyway - back to the point - as soon as our contract closed we called and booked a night for our trip to WDW after Thanksgiving - and a night on our way back.

Hilton Head is THE perfect pre-WDW and post-WDW stop over. It's not TOO far out of the way off of I-95 and it is SO relaxing!

We started planning for a summer trip with members of both of our families and wanted to book a 3BR Grand Villa over the week of 4th of July - we REALLY didn't think we would be able to get it since I think there are only 5 GV's.

We got it! Someway, somehow - we got a Grand Villa exactly at 11 months.

We booked a 1BR for the way down, and the way back. We had a lock-off (since all 1BR's are lockoffs) and we were upgraded to a dedicated 2BR on the way back. When we arrived at the room we were originally assigned it smelled exactly like a cat litter box - it was very strong.

In slow seasons, I think they do a lot of upgrading to keep guests in buildings that are already occupied so housekeeping doesn't have to go to a building to clean one room - BUT, that might just seem like what they were doing during our stay.

If you're trying to book in June, July, or August - it isn't likely that you'll get what you want at 7 months. Anything can happen - but with how small the resort is, and how loyal owners are in staying there, that doesn't leave a lot of room for availability at 7 months it seems.

If anyone would like to give us helpful hints, great things to do, or anything that you've discovered - please feel free to PM me!
