Now Showing...Our first trip out of the Loonybin! May 2011 *Completed:7/27*

May 6 - Wolfgang Puck Cafe

After Park Fare, we drove over to DTD. We had planned this day to be our rest day and had no plans to go to a Park. Luckily we still got 8 day park hoppers, because we ended up going to MK later.

We arrived at DTD early and did some shopping. To be honest, we were not that impressed with DTD. It had a few neat shops, but I don't see this as a place we will visit often.

We walked over to the Cafe and were seated right away. The place was pretty empty.

We all ordered drinks. I don't remember what we ordered exactly. The receipt show 3 cokes and 1 kids soda. I know none of us ordered coke. We don't drink coke and I cannot drink any type of soda or carbonated beverage. I think someone ordered a lemonade and maybe I ordered tea. :confused3

For our appetizers:

DH ordered the Crab Cakes
wolfgang2.jpg

They were good but surprisingly spicy. I cannot really do spicy food, so I did not take more than a small bite. DH thought they were a little too spicy also.

Dd15 ordered the Tortilla Soup
wolfgang4.jpg

She seemed to like this. It was her first time trying tortilla soup. It was described as chili-like. I was surprised by how many new things she tried this trip. She is. BY FAR, the pickiest of us.

Dd7 got a fruit cup
wolfgang.jpg

So far, we had been very lucky with our fruit. The fruit here was not a good. The melons did not taste very ripe.

I ordered the Artichoke and 5 cheese dip.
wolfgang3.jpg

The dip was great! Very cheesy and you could actually tell that there was artichoke in it. Sometimes you get a dip that says artichoke but you can't even tell. The only bad thing about this was the flatbread crisp things. They did have an ok flavor, but it would have been better with bread or tortilla chips.

For our entrees:
DH and I decided to order two entrees and split them. The first one was the Four Cheese Pizza
wolfgang7.jpg

This was a very good pizza. The only, slight, negative is that the basil on top was clumped in some spots and when you bit into that part, it really overpowered the pizza. We just moved it around on the pizza a bit better.

The other entree was the Pennette Chicken Alfredo
wolfgang6.jpg

This was VERY good also! Since we were sharing, I just pushed the bacon over to the side for him. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce had a lot of flavor. You could really taste the parmesan. I would get this again.

Dd15 ordered the Chicken Aioli Pocket
wolfgang9.jpg

She thought that this was just ok. It had good flavor but she felt there was too much lettuce and not enough chicken. She did not like the chips. They were VERY hard and tasted burnt.

Dd7 had the kids spaghetti
wolfgang5.jpg

The meatballs were BIG. She liked this and did pretty good but by this time in the dining plan, we were getting tired of food. :)

Then it was onto desserts.
Dh and Dd15 both ordered the Snickers Cheesecake
wolfgang12.jpg

They really liked this. It was one of the best cheesecakes of the trip (if not THE best).

I ordered the Chocolate lava cake
wolfgang11.jpg

I thought that this was really good. It looks a little plain but inside was gooey, chocolaty goodness. The raspberries on the plate were VERY tart and dd7 stole my strawberry right away. :lmao:

Dd7 got the kids sundae.
wolfgang10.jpg

She really played with this more than ate it. She shared with all of us instead.

The total here: $131.61
Total so far: $1724.35

That snicker's cheesecake looks so amazing!!! We are trying to get a ressie here for our May 2012 trip!!

That snicker's cheesecake looks so amazing!!! We are trying to get a ressie here for our May 2012 trip!!

They loved the cheesecake! In fact between the three of them, they scraped both plates clean. (Funny how they are so FULL that they can't finish the entrees, but there is always room for good desserts! :lmao:)

We are going back in May 2012 also!!

May 6 - Snacks at MK

We had planned this day as a Park-free day but we couldn't help ourselves, and decided to head to MK.

We had a lot of fun, but after a few hours we were ready for a snack.

We decided to try "THE ONE, THE ONLY, DOLEWHIP"!! :lmao:

The four of us split one and a bottle of smart water. (Big mistake...we all LOVED the pineapple/vanilla swirl.) Next time, everyone is getting their own! ;)

Total here: $6.54
Snack credits used: 2
Credits left: 4

We started heading towards Main Street and the exit, when the girls decided that the shared dolewhip was not enough. We stopped at Main Street Bakery to get them a Blueberry Muffin and a Cheese Danish.

Total here: $5.52 (I could not find the price for the danish, so I added the price of the muffin twice.)
Credits used: 2
Credits left: 2

Total for all snacks: $12.06
Total so far: $1736.41

May 6 - Pop Food Court Dinner

We had originally planned on Cape May Cafe for dinner tonight. Dd15 is the only one of us that does not like seafood. But after the long day, we really just wanted to head back to Pop. We decided to let the kids swim, while we did up a load of clothes.

After swimming and laundry, we grabbed something to eat in the food court.

DH got the Tokyo Sampler with a Smart Water and a brownie sundae.
IMAG0049.jpg

He thought it was actually pretty darn good for food court sushi.
(I don't have the price for this, so I am going to say $7, which is the average price to a meal.)

DD15 got the Chicken Caesar Salad, Smart Water, and a brownie sundae.
(Sorry, there is no picture of this.) She liked it. It was a pretty good size salad.

Their total: $32.45

Dd7 got the kids Lo Mein again, with bottled water, grapes and chocolate pudding. (Again, no picture)

Her total: $5.31

I got the cheese pizza, smart water, and brownie sundae.
IMAG0050.jpg

I was surprised that this was pretty good. Don't get me wrong, this is not GREAT pizza, but it was really good for food court pizza. It was much better than I was expecting. DD7 and I shared the brownie sundae again.

My total: $15.37
All our totals: $53.13
Total so far: $1789.54

Before we went back to our room we decided to use up our last two snack credits for something we could eat in the morning. We got an apple juice and a bowl of grapes.

Total here: $6.11
Snack credits used: 2
Snack credits left: 0
Total for our DxDDp portion of our trip: $1795.65

Now we will move on to the OOP portion of our trip!!

May 7 - DHS Snacks/Catalina Eddie's

This day we woke up early and snacked in the room before running up to Walgreen's to get another case of water. (We brought a case of bottled water and a case of smart water with us from home, but it was already gone)

At Walgreen's Dd7 kept going on about how dry her throat was and how thirsty she was, so we got her a bottle of water that was already cold and sent her and Dd15 out to the car while we paid for the case of water. All of a sudden we hear a car alarm going off and I look up to see Dd15 run to the front door of the store. So I go outside and discover that Dd7 tried to open the door before they unlocked it. Dd15 was startled and she kinda jump away from the car (that is when I seen her by the door.) We had a talk about not leaving your little sister in a crisis. :sad2: :rotfl:

Finally...off to DHS we went. We got hungry around 9:30am and stopped at the Writer's Shop for some muffins. We each got one (2 Blueberry, 1 Strawberry and 1 chocolate chip)

Total here: $12.57

We did Sci-fi for Lunch (review coming next)

For dinner we grabbed some food from Catalina Eddie's.

Dh had the pepperoni pizza, I had the cheese pizza, dd15 had the Deli sandwich (turkey) and a salad.
Dd7 had The kids cheese pizza with applesauce, water bottle and a cookie.

It was pretty good, but the place was PACKED!! It took a good 20min for Dh to order and get the food. By that time, Dd7 was so tired, that she fell asleep right at the table.
DSCN9825.jpg

She woke up about the time the rest of us were done eating, so we hung out while she ate. She didn't take more than a bite or two of pizza but did finish the applesauce and water. By this time, I was beginning to suspect that her dry throat and and increased water consumption was a sign that she might be catching something.

The Total for here: $28.08

We decided to do Fantasmic so we hung out nearby. Right before they would let us back, the kids wanted some snacks. We got a Mickey Ice Cream Bar and a bucket of popcorn. (The ice cream was supposed to be for me since I can't eat popcorn, but dd7 took most of it for her throat.)
DSCN9827.jpg

We also go some more water.

Total for here: $11.45
Total OOP so far: $52.10

May 7 - Sci-Fi Dine-In Lunch

We had an ADR for 1:20pm. For some reason I was sure that it was supposed to be @ 1pm. We went to check in at 12:50pm and were told to come back later. We were hot and just ready to sit down. We walked out the door and found a place to sit in the shade, right across from the entrance. We waited about 15 min. and then went back in. They checked us in and we sat in the little waiting room. After about 5 minutes, they called our name. We were led to a car on the far left hand side of the screen. It was a 4 seater. The girls sat in front and Dh and I in the back. We really should have had dd7 and I in one seat and dd15 and dh in the other, since we were sharing, but oh well.

Dd15, dd7, and I all got chocolate milkshakes. Dh just stuck with water.

Dh ordered the Smoked Turkey Sandwich.
Dd15 got the Chili. They split these meals. They both liked the sandwich, but not the cucumber salad that came with it. The chili was pretty good, but much too hot and filling for the day.

Dd7 and I split the Shrimp pasta. This was very good! I really liked it a lot. Dd7 liked it too but was not really that hungry. She ate all the shrimp out of the pasta dish but did not eat much else. She didn't even finish her milkshake.

We really liked the ambiance of this restaurant, it was nice and cool and dark inside. It was very welcome after the hot bright day outside.

We found DHS the hardest park of our trip. We were there all day but did not seem to get much accomplished. The timing of the various shows made it hard. Next time we are thinking of not doing any ADR's here and just grabbing a bite between shows and such.

Total for here: $59.68
Total OOP so far: $111.78

May 8 - Sunshine Seasons Lunch

We went to Epcot today. We ate breakfast in our room again, before heading out.

Around 11am we were starting to get hungry. Since we had just finished Soarin', we decided to eat at Sunshine Seasons.

Dd7 was still not feeling great. It seems that her allergies kicked in big time and the drainage was making her throat tender. She went with applesauce, jello, and an Itzakadoozie. She also got a small kids sprite.

Dh went with the Sushi Full Moon combo. He thought it was good. Dd7 ended up taking one.

Dd15 got the Turkey Focaccia and a soda. She thought it was just ok.

I got the roasted chicken plate with mashed potatoes instead of whatever it normally comes with. (The cashier accidentally rang this up as Sweet and Sour Chicken, so that is the price I will list.) The potatoes were pretty good. The chicken was a little dry but had nice flavor.

For dessert we went back and got a chocolate mousse cake, a NY cheesecake with berries, and 2 strawberry shortcakes. The chocolate cake was good, but rich. I really loved the shortcakes. YUMMY. The cheesecake seemed to be pretty good. They thought it was middle of the pack on this trip. (not the best, but not the worst).

Total here: $56.01
Total OOP so far: $167.79

May 8 - Earl of Sandwich

We had an ADR for the afternoon tea at the Garden View Tea Room, but Dh and Dd7 were just not feeling great. We decided to cancel and run back to Walgreen's for some medicine. On the way back, we decided to run into DTD to get a quick lunch at Earl of Sandwich and pick up a Christmas ornament (we collect them from all our trips).

Dh got The Original 1762 with a soda
DSCN9909.jpg

He really enjoyed this sandwich! It was toasty and melty goodness.

Dd15 got the Earl's Club and a Berry smoothie
DSCN9907.jpg

She also enjoyed this sandwich, though the bacon was not the best. The smoothie took so long to come out that we were almost done eating.

Dd7 got the kids Turkey sandwich with cheddar instead of swiss and no mayo.
DSCN9905.jpg

She also got the chocolate pudding. The sandwich was really good. The chocolate pudding was FANTASTIC!

I got the Caprese and an Earl's Grey lemonade.
DSCN9906.jpg

This was Excellent. The only complaint is that the bread was pretty soggy in places from the tomatoes and the balsamic vinaigrette that they put on it. I did not like the Earl's grey lemonade at all. Ended up buying a bottled water also.

Dh, dd15, and I decided to get two of the brownies with peanut butter in the middle and share.
DSCN9908.jpg

Wow, it was super peanut buttery. It was really too much. It was hard to eat. We decided to take the other one with us. (We brought it home with us and ended up splitting it in fourths and serving it with vanilla ice cream. That was much better!!)

Total for here: $44.09
Total OOP so far: $211.88

May 7 - DHS Snacks/Catalina Eddie's

It was pretty good, but the place was PACKED!! It took a good 20min for Dh to order and get the food. By that time, Dd7 was so tired, that she fell asleep right at the table.
DSCN9825.jpg

Poor thing! Look at her red little face! It was so hot!!

May 8 - Pop Late Night Dessert!

After taking it easy today, we felt like a late night snack. We walked over to the Pop Food Court and made our selections.

Dh and DD15 got two scoops of ice cream.
Dd7 got one scoop of ice cream
I got a hot fudge sundae.

It was pretty good after such a hot day.

Total here: $16.90
Total OOP so far: $228.78

May 9 - Pop Breakfast & Lunch

This was our last full day. We were leaving in the morning for the drive home. Unfortunately, dd7 was not feeling that great. Her allergies (or whatever it was) were worse and it was kicking off asthma. (She is a asthma cough-er rather than a wheezer.) So, DH and Dd15 went up to the Pop food court to pick us up some breakfast.

They brought back:
Chocolate croissant
Plain Croissant
Cinnamon Roll
Turnover (apple, I think)
Blueberry muffin
Side of breakfast potatoes

We let dd7 pick what she wanted and then we shared everything else.

Total here: $16.13

After breakfast, DH and Dd15 went back to Walgreen's to get dd4 some medicine. After they dropped that off with me, they headed to Animal Kingdom. Dd7 had really wanted the Tree of Life play-set when we went to AK earlier in our trip. Since it was so early in our trip, she decided to wait, in case she found something else. We had assured her that we would go back if we needed to. Well, we never got back there and now she wasn't feeling great. DH and dd15 were so nice to go back for her. They managed to squeeze a ride or two in also.

When they got back, we all went up to Pop for some lunch.

Dh got the pepperoni pizza
Dd15 got the Chili Cheese Dog Basket
I got the Cheese Pizza
We also got a bottle water for later and used our mugs for ice water.

Dd7 got the kids chicken noodle with a cookie and a bottle water. She really liked the chicken noodle soup. They cook it weird though. They have the meat, veggies and noodles separate and then they scoop in some broth. :confused3

The total for here: $29.95
Total OOP so far: $274.86

May 9 - Snacking Around the World/Late Snack @ Pop

Dd7 was feeling a bit better so we decided to venture over to Epcot. We did get her a stroller, allowing her to rest. We wanted to make sure her asthma would not kick in worse.

We decided to stroll the world showcase. We really took our time and just wandered wherever we felt like. The girls got some last minute shopping done also. We stopped for snacks here and there.

The first was France! We stopped at the bakery for:
2 Bottled Waters
Chocolate Mousse
Napoleon
Cake of the Day

I had wanted to try the Napoleon from ready DIS reviews. I thought it was ok. The flavor was good, but the hard pastry made it difficult to eat. I would try to take a bite and it would just all squish down. We ended up making a huge mess. :confused3

The Mousse was FANTASTIC! This was the favorite. The Cake of the day was a chocolate cake. It was very good also, but extremely rich.

Total for here: $16.40

*We did have a hard time finding seats. They had a table right near the door to the perfume shop. But the fumes were too much for me, I felt a migraine coming on. We finally found another seat inside near the kidcot station. So for those of you who get scent triggered migraines, beware of the limited seating inside.

We spent some time finishing up dd7 Epcot passport and finding some smashed pennies we needed for our collection.

We made our way to Japan and decided that we needed to try another DIS recommended snack. The Kaki-Gori. The girls both got strawberry flavored ones. I asked if I could get one with no syrup, just ice. The lady said yes and only charged me $2 for it! I can't really do the syrup. DH took his typical role of clean up. (Finishing whatever is left.) :rotfl: I really love crushed/shaved ice. Though, after going through labor, it will always remind me of that.) :lmao:

Total for here: $9.12

After more shopping and wandering, we came to China. We decided that we needed some nourishment to face the shopping in China. We stopped at the Lotus Blossom for 2 egg rolls . These were pretty good and were VERY HOT. The only problem was it was also very hot outside.

Total here: $ 8.50

We then proceeded directly to the China store and dd7 pretty much bought them out on Panda items. :lmao:

She got a panda umbrella, stuffed panda, two panda clips. The ladies in the store came over and talked to her about all the panda things she was buying. Dd7 then informed them that she was going to grow up and go to China to work with Pandas and help save their habitat. (She read an article about the scientists dressing up in Panda costumes when they interacted with baby pandas, and decided that was the best job ever.) :lmao:

We then made our way to the Future World. We did one last ride on Soarin' and then headed back to Pop.

After getting to Pop and cooling off, we spent some time packing. We decided we needed a little something to tide us over until morning.

We went to the food court and got:
Banana
Apple slices
Fruit cup
8 piece chicken nugget meal, with fries and ranch dressing

We all shared. We did not really care for the chicken nuggets. It could be because it was so late and the chicken had been sitting for awhile. We did finish up all the fruit though.

Total for here: $17.10

We went back to our room and cleaned out the fridge. We sampled a few things we had left over.

Tomorrow we were heading home. :sad1:

Total OOP so far: $325.98

May 10 - Departure Day :sad1: Breakfast at Pop

This was the morning we were leaving. We had thought to get an early start, but none of us were ready to leave.

We decided to head over to Pop for a last breakfast. I was hoping for some Mickey Waffles. When I went up to the waffle station and asked she said no Mickey waffles!! :sad2: So I decided to go with the Pop Waffle. It was very good!! After I got my plate, I noticed a lady getting...MICKEY WAFFLES!! WTH! I finally figured out that if you order a kids waffle plate, you get Mickey waffles!! I would have been fine with that, but she just said "No Mickey Waffles". Ok, moving on...

I decided that dd7 really needed waffles too. :lmao: This time I sent DH up there (just in case) and SCORE! He came back with a kids mickey waffle with bacon and OJ.

DH got the Bacon, Egg, & Cheese Croissant. He thought that this was really good. He shared with Dd15.

We also got 2 sides of potatoes. (These are pretty good. I wish we had discovered this earlier!) A cinnamon roll and 2 mickey straws were added to our order. We filled up our mugs for the last time. :sad1:

The total for here: $25.05
Total OOP so far: $351.03

May 10 - Snacks for the Road

We were all packed up and ready to hit the road....at 10:30am :lmao:

We decided that we were going to run up to Winn-Dixie to get some snacks. (Thanks Dizneeat, for the recommendation)

We found Winn-Dixie, next to the Hookah Cafe. :lmao:

We ate most of these on our trip home.

We decided on Aero Milk Chocolate bar
IMG_9029.jpg

IMG_9030.jpg

IMG_9032.jpg

I thought that this was pretty good, but the bubbles in the chocolate were different.

We also got an Aero Mint bar. This is just like the one above but it was mint (and a lite green color) We ate this after we were home. We liked the chocolate one better.

Also, purchased was two Ritter Sport Bars:
Dark Chocolate with Whole Hazelnuts - (YUMMY! I love chocolate and I love hazelnuts!! A match made in.....Germany, actually. ) :rotfl:
Alpine Milk Chocolate Bar - This was also very good!!
Nestle's Munchies bar - This was good. It reminded me of Rolo's.
IMG_9024.jpg

IMG_9025.jpg

IMG_9026.jpg

The total for here: $12.09

We stopped at McDonald's for the only thing we ever get from them, the $1.00 Sweet Tea. FINALLY, some brewed sweet tea!! :woohoo:

Total for here: $2.13 for two teas.

We stopped again in St. Augustine's at the outlet mall. We had stopped on the way down and the girls had seen somethings they wanted. We went to the Character Premier Disney outlet store. We decided that some more Disney chocolate was in order.

We got the Mickey Mouse Krunch Bar, Mickey Mouse Milk Chocolate and Dark Chocolate bars.
Here are pictures of the Krunch Bar (They all pretty much looked the same and were all good!)
IMG_9027.jpg

IMG_9028.jpg

Total for here: $6.23
Total OOP so far: $357.26

May 10 - Trip Home Food

This is it....my last food post. :sad1: We stopped at Chick-Fil-A and Bojangles on the way home.

Chick-fil-A:
1 Chicken sandwich with cheese meal w/sweet tea
1 12 piece nugget meal w/ sweet tea
2 chicken sandwiches with cheese

We shared the teas and fries. It was pretty good. We don't really eat at fast food restaurants hardly at all. This filled us up and after we finished eating, we decided to get some milkshakes to-go.

1 large Chocolate and 2 small chocolate. (DH and dd7 shared since they were both still feeling a bit poorly and we didn't know if it was a cold or allergies)

Total for here: $33.20

Around 9:30pm we were in Florence, SC and feeling a little peckish. We decided on Bojangles, mostly because it was the only thing open and nearby that we would be willing to eat at. :rotfl:

We got a 12 count of biscuits to share. Dd15 got a side of mac and cheese and dd7 got a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit. The Mac and cheese was not very good and the biscuits left a nasty taste in our mouth. A completely different experience that our Bojangles stop on the way down to WDW. We ended up throwing most of it away.

Total here: $ 11.52
Total OOP: $401.98

We made it into town right in the middle of a HORRIBLE thunderstorm! We walked in the door at 12:15am! That was a LONG drive home!!!

Well, that concludes my dining report. Please collect your belongings and move towards the exits. Thanks for joining us and please come again soon.

Some thoughts on the DxDDp:

We liked having the dining plan and not worrying about what to order, but I did NOT like the kids options. The deluxe plan was also a lot of food. When we go again we will either pay OOP or maybe do the DDp. It is not that eating three meals a day was too much, but when you add to it the fact that you get an app AND a dessert, it is too much food. We could have done some signature restaurants but Dd15 is much too picky.

I think it was nice for a first trip, so we were able to try so many things that we might not have tried if we were paying OOP.

I hope my reviews are helpful to someone. If anyone has any questions, please let me know and I will be happy to answer them to the best of my abilities.

Thanks!!
Terri :flower3:

Thanks so much for the reviews, really enjoyed them! :thumbsup2
