NOW post and share your digital pics!! Great photos inside:)

I shot it in both color and b/w, many times... I did this with a 32 second shutter time. It was pitch black out, I'm talking no light but the tiny lights on the pier. I could not even see the pier/rocks until the photo had been taken, I just aimed and hoped for the best.

There is an article in 1 of the UK photo mags that brings this picture and your description to mind. They talk about using a torch, or as we call it in the US, a high powered battery operated flash light/spot light. This subject would be a great use of this technique. Place the camera in the same spot, and then place the spot light off to the left or right of the camera and aim the light at the rocks and/or the pier. Try a shorter shutter. You'll definately get some different interesting results.

I believe the article is in Paratical Photography. Not the actual current issue on sale in the UK, its actually last months, which would be the Feb issue and is currently available in the US. Should be able to find it at Barnes & Noble if you have one near you. It has a picture of a Dutch style windmill at dusk on the cover. The article is titled, painting with light. Digital Camera World also has a short article about this technique as well (again the Feb issue, the one with the close-up picture of a lizzards eye on the cover).

I hope i'm putting this in the right thread. This is my first post to the photography board.

Anyways, I was in San Francisco for the Amgen Tour of California pro bike race. Here's one of Levi Leipheimer winning the Prologue(opening stage).

Lovely image. That is a really neat place. I use to have some nice 35mm shots of the gardens and the winery but have no idea where they are now.

We love it. We had season passes for a couple of years. It is such a nice place to go and enjoy the beauty. :) And some very good food too. ;)

We are going up to the Smokies for a week in June and then to SC for a wedding my daughter is a flower girl in. I'm hoping to get over there for a day somewhere in the mix.

We are going to Gatlinburg (right around the corner from you I guess?) the first week of June and then to Bowman SC the following weekend for the wedding on 6/9. Between the mountains, Biltmore, and the wedding I better buy some more memory cards or plan on dragging along my laptop!

Yep you will be in the same county that we live then....we are about 30 minutes from Gatlinburg on a good traffic day.

I know what you mean about the memory cards, I stocked up for our last WDW trip because we don't have a laptop...I think I have 11 GB total now. :thumbsup2
