We just finished watching the grand Floridian villa promo video and now I am more confused than ever! The first thing my DH and I both said is how far the villas are from the pool and all the restaurants. While we want the convenience of the monorail we also want the convenience of not walking far on property to get to everything.

Now I am just not sure if the vGF will be for us?! We both love the look of the AKV but not until the kids are older.

We are planning sept 2014 and I would LOVE to be able to book the poly and not worry about the construction but it sounds like it will right in the middle of construction there. Augh. What to do?

Has anyone walked that route at the GF villas, is is that long?

I keep looking for garden wing standard view to book as back up but my DH really doesn't want to stay there so now I don't know what to do?

Any help is greatly appreciated....anything I am not considering?

Imho, it was a horrible video and don't totally understand why they bothered to send it out to the wild... If you go there now they are working on the inside but the outside is almost done. Plus they suggested (w/o saying it) that you could see the MK fireworks from the building but you can't. Which is why she said (quickly) they walked to the beach to see the fireworks and then pushed the issue that there is a fireworks cruise...

It is actually not that far...a couple hundred feet (5min at most) plus they are supposed to put in a covered walk... It is about twice the distance from BLT to the CR.

Well i have never been a big fan of paying cash to stay at a DVC but you probably could stay at BLT for less or close to staying at the CR. Don't really know the cost but may consider checking... Also don't know if you have to be a DVC member to do a cash reservation at a DVC.

Are you saving AKV because of transportation? If so (and this just MY opinion), the bus transportation really is great at AKL/AKV. I don't have little ones so I can't speak for transporting them back for afternoon breaks, but since the buses only go to AKL and Kidani, there isn't any sharing with any other resort(s). The buses, in our experience, were quick and efficient. I know everyone's opinion/experience is different and there are some that don't like how far away AKL is, but we didn't find it to take more than about 5 extra minutes getting to any of the parks compared to other resorts we have stayed at. And the resort is very quiet and makes for relaxing resort time, IMO. Yes, the monorail is convenient, but I thought the buses at AKL were great. Only you can decide if the transportation would be more hassle than it's worth for your family, but if you and your DH both love the look of AKV and want to (eventually) stay there, I would really look into it a little more. AKL is a beautiful resort and you can't beat watching the animals roam around the savannas. Good luck.

Why not just book GF Outer Building-Garden View? Request a room close to the main building and pool (Boca Chica or Big Pine Key).

You do not have to be a DVC member to rent a villa from Disney for cash.
Disney rents DVC units out - just chose deluxe villas on the WDW web booking site to price them out. A cash reservation through Disney for a villa includes mouse keeping every day. Sometimes w/ 30-40% off it's not a bad deal.

Really not that far. Like PP said, a little farther than from BLT to CR. And the walkway will be covered. Not much different than the outer buildings at GF or the outer longhouses at Poly.
