I had planned on dining at Chef Mickey's, Hollywood & Vine, 1900, & Cape May Cafe during my upcoming trip and am now having second thoughts. I was reading a post about someone getting sick after eating at the 1900 recently and then saw all of the posts talking about other people getting sick or viewing people doing some pretty gross stuff and now am wondering if I should avoid the buffets and just stick to sit down restaurants. Anybody have good experiences with these restaurants?

I've eaten at H&V, Cape May Cafe and 1900 Park Fare - it was all very tasty and I never got sick :)

I eat at all of them at least 5 times a year and have PS arrangements made for them in December and will make them for my March trip. No one in my party has ever gotten sick. We also eat at the buffets in Vegas all the time and have never gotten sick. Go and enjoy. You will love them and have a great time! There is nothing better than eating with the Disney characters .... well maybe if Tarzan was there .... but that's another story.

We do both 1900 Park Fare and Cape May Cafe several times each year. We occasionally do Chef Mickey's. We have never been disappointed and have never gotten sick. We have our PS's all set for next week. Go and enjoy. The food is great at Park Fare, and the atmosphere is wonderful. Cape May has great food too, and is a fun meal. They are two of our favorites.

We've done 1900 Park Fare and Chef Mickeys several times and we've never gotten sick. I would keep the PSs and enjoy yourself!!!

I know what you mean! After reading those threads, I had doubts as well. I think I'm sticking with 1900 Park Fare though. Sometimes ignorance is bliss--I shouldn't have read it. ;)

I have also eaten everywhere that you mentioned without any problems. I haven't seen anyone doing anything "gross", or had any tummy upsets. We love the buffets... and they are a big part of our restaurant dining at WDW... and after 9 trips, averaging at least 4 buffet meals each trip, I will have to say not to worry about it. Don't let other people's bad experiences ruin what may be a highlight for you!

Probably the safest time to go is after there has been a problem or scare, since they will tighten up the controls and be extra careful. Psychologically, that may be hard to embrace, but at least it's logical!

Have fun!

Since all those sickness reports and that gross behavior had nothing whatsoever to do with Disney or their actual food preparation, I imagine you'll want to avoid ALL buffets, wherever found.

Have you ever seen those 20/20, Dateline, or other news produced segments performed on hidden camera wherein food was tampered with by the kitchen/wait staff?

IMHO if you read or watch any of these reports and realize the great potential for food contamination and/or human tampering--you might never leave your own kitchen. Oh yeah, I forgot, the average kitchen has more germs than a bathroom! Bleeeeecccchhh!

I wouldn't worry about it. You can get contaminated food even in the best restaurants. Try not to think about the horror stories, and enjoy your meals!

Erin :D
