I'm staying at POFQ for our stay in August and I'm starting to get scared my all the onsite horror stories I've been hearing. It seems to me though that any number of these things could happen anywhere so hopefully I'm just hearing all of the complaints and none of the good. Convince me everything will be magical and wonderful.

Everything will be fine. I've been umpteen times and the problems were only very minor and if you look at things as a whole, you'll realize the horror stories were minor as well. No one was stranded, or hurt, or left for dead. These are also a very small fraction of the people that go to Disney, but it seems we have the most vocal people :lmao:

Relax, get ready for the time of your lives.

I just saw that you are going to POFQ. Great choice. Be sure you take a carriage ride. You won't regret the $35 and don't forget cash for the tip. I made that mistake.

No worries. We stayed at the POFQ back in Sept of 05. Of the 4 resorts that we've stayed at POFQ was hands down our favorite. We just had a minor room mix up when we checked in (booked a king, got 2 doubles) but it was very quickly remedied.

The grounds are gorgeous and since it is such a small resort, its not a major walk to anywhere. Take time to enjoy the boat ride from the resort to DtD.

Have fun!!!

Yeah, we are staying at POR. I was really hoping to find money in the budget to upgrade to a deluxe, but with the price of EVERYTHING going up, we are just lucky to be going at all at this point. :scared1: The horror stories I have been reading are so bad that I decided I am not going to open or read the POR threads anymore. I am not cancelling my trip, I can't afford to upgrade, I don't want to go offsite and lose my free dining..so I am stuck there. No use getting all worked up about it! :thumbsup2

ajk912- Don't worry. POR is a lovely resort. We've stayed there twice and had wonderful visits both times. I can't address the bus situation though, as we always rent a car.

We have stayed at PO-FQ four different times and absolutely love this resort. Themeing is great and everything is close together. They re-did the rooms a few years ago and they are great. Buses pick-up and drip-off there first on the PO route. Enjoy!

Went to POR in September 2006 but we often ambled from one to the other (often we would get off the bus at POFQ wander around, eat, shop etc and then walk on up to POR) and everything and everyone we saw there were lovely :thumbsup2

You are going to have a wonderful time!! I think sometimes we just all love Disney so much, that while people focus on the best parts of Disney, we always notice the not-so-best parts of Disney as well! POFQ is one of our favorite hotels. I love how it is small enough to walk around the whole hotel, and the busing is pretty good as well! You are going to have a fabulous time!! I'm jealous!! And remember "A bad day in Disney is better than a perfect day anywhere else!" :rotfl:

We're going the week before you and I'm glad I chose (and stuck with FQ).
I'm an obsessive resort changer (if I get a code or discount) and I've found that even with a code, most every other resort I wanted to change to was completely booked. One CM told me that the week I'll be there is the last week before kids in Florida go back to school so it's full. Now, I've been to Disney during busy seasons and I'm grateful that I'm at FQ because there's one bus stop, your on the bus first and dropped off first when returning from the parks. The resort is small, the boat ride to downtown Disney is awesome. We're surprising our daughters with the horse-drawn carriage ride. DH and I stayed at this resort on our honeymoon and loved it!
I hear many complaints about different resorts on these boards but I've never had a bad experience myself. Enjoy!:)

DH & I have stayed at POFQ for the past 4 years. It is our first choice of resorts if mods & values are our only picks. Deluxe is not in our budget & I don't see it ever being. :sad1: But I digress. We have not had any problems on any of these trips. Clean rooms, no bugs, great mousekeeping. :dance3: We love the small, quaint size of POFQ. Don't let a small section of the populus get to you. Don't worry & enjoy! :goodvibes

I stayed at POFQ in August of 06 and enjoyed the entire stay. The resort was lovely and compact. The CM's were friendly, had no problems with Mousekeeping, had plenty of towels, no issues with buses.
Resort experiences, like restaurant experiences are subjective. I also think that posters are more likely to post negative experiences over the positive.

You'll have a wonderful time! You can have a negative experience at any and all resorts. That does'nt mean your going to have one every time. I take most of the comments on problems with a grain of salt attitude....form your own opinion! You'll be at WDW none the less....so it will be magical! :)

Kellylynn,
Your attitude will also determine the out come of the vacation. If you go to POFQ will all these "horror" stories in your head, I can guarantee that you will find some thing wrong. You have to go in this vacation believing that every thing will be wonderful. If you stress over bus wait times, the very first time you have to wait for a bus, you're gonna freak. same thing with mousekeeping, cm's and food.
Remember it is easier to criticize than to complement.

First, don't believe everything you read or hear. Everybody has an opinion.... Secondly, go in thinking that no matter what, this trip will be special!! Thirdly, on your way home, think of all the wonderful things that happened on this trip and all the bad things you heard about that didn't happen.

We've been to both and had a blast every time and never had any issues with the transportation, especially the buses. We used DDE at Boatwrights and still got great service! (Imagine that:eek: ) Our room was right on the river and was just wonderful!! The resort was so relaxing, which is just what we needed.:thumbsup2 Oh, and no, it's not all spread out on the back 40 and take 35 minutes to get from the front to the back of POR.

The biggest surprise is that the boat ride from POR to DTD takes about 25 minutes. It is an awesome boat ride so don't skip it if you have the time to do it, but just make sure you aren't planning on sliding in at an ADR at the last minute down there.

Have a great time!!!

You have the right idea ... these things could happen anywhere, even in WDW. Randomly pick any other WDW resort, pretending you are going to stay there, and you will find an identical amount of online "dirt" about it. Since you are focusing on POFQ, you are only seeing "dirt" on POFQ. As humans, we then assume that if we're reading "dirt" on somelace then ANY other place must be better. Of course, this is not so.

I guarantee that if you write a trip report after your trip, or if you post a review on a site such as Trip Advisor, you won't even mention housekeeping if there were no problems. If you find a clean room at check-in, and your room is adequately cleaned and supplied each day, you won't even notice it and you won't make a note of it in any review you write. Sure, if the Mousekeeper went out of her way to do something special you'd note it, but if she merely does a respectable job of earning her hourly wage and following her job description, you won't even notice and won't make a note of it.

To use a different, unrelated example that shows my point ...
People comment on good food because food is enjoyable ... they never comment on how clean the dishes are, but if one dish during one meal out of a 10-day trip is dirty, then THAT will be read by thousands of people.

The POFQ is one of my very favorites! It is a nice resort and we never have had a problem staying there before, you will be fine! :)

Thanks everyone so much for responding...I'm not worried about buses or food or anything like that. The only thing I am/was worried about is housekeeping. I'm not a super neat freak and I don't even care if they clean it at all during my stay because I know it will all be my mess. I'm just worried about it being nice upon check in i.e. clean bedding and shower. I'm not even expecting to be super picky about that either. But again thanks everyone.:mickeyjum

I'll be there in three days so I'll let you know when we get back.
:cool1:  :yay: :dance3: :woohoo: :goodvibes :cool1:  :yay: :cheer2:

I don't think you have anything to worry about most people who are vocal complain but when i hear from people who has never post they are all like that has never happened to me. If you work for Customer Service you know it is only the 1% who complain 2nd time there after reading reviews the first time i was so scared. When we went it was soo magical going again next May and wont listen to much to postings. Just use the post as Great Ideas and make up your own mind.

We have stayed at po-FQ four different times and never had any issue with mousekeeping. The rooms and grounds are fantastic.
