Okay, after a post that I read I am now scared about our DL trip during the last week of June. A poster said it was "insane and very hot" during her trip at that time last year. Will we do okay during that time? We will probably cut out roller coasters (if I am pg) b/c dh won't ride them any ds won't be 40 inches by then. Will we be able to see everything else besides the big rides (if I am pg) in three days? Please put me at ease...

Yes you will, no matter how crowded. Trust me. Just get there first thing in the morning, take a break in the afternoon and go back in the evening. Its wonderful. As an AP I do this ALL the time. . .summer, winter, fall and spring. . .

It's all relative! Compared to our humid summers on the East Coast, braving a hot summer day at DL is a joy! It's really not that bad. The only place that gets unbearable is ToonTown in the afternoons. There's not much shade nor places to sit.

If it's too hot, go see Bill Hill & the Hillbillies; get wet splashing each other on the Davey Crockett canoes; see It's a Small World a gadzillion times (it is COOL in there!). Get a frozen lemonade or better yet, a Mint Julep! I figure I can bear anything if I'm in Disneyland!

And the last week of June can be cool or hot. Last year there was an incredibly long heat wave, but this year it could be nice. You never know!

So, California hot isn't as bad as Florida (or Missouri) hot with humidity? That will be a welcome change.

Normally the end of June is hot, but not horrible. Last year was out of the ordinary. California heat is quite dry so it's much more manageable than a lower temp. with humidity. If you are feeling hot, the suggestion of checking out the cool, indoor rides is a great one. I would add Tiki room (with a dole whip in hand) and Innoventions. Both my kids like those. Tiki lets you sit and Innoventions has lots of interactive activities for kids. Play your cards right and get DH to follow the kids around while you sit and relax in the air conditioning. Don't tell your DH I said that!:rotfl2: We'll be there with you the last week before our AP's block out.

It's more of a dry heat. Just remember it's a desert. Kind of hard to think of it that way with all the development. It's cool in the AM, warms up in the day and cools down again at night. I always bring along a sweatshirt or light jacket to stash in the locker until I need it. (I'm always cold!) Even in the heat of summer it will cool down considerably when the sun sets. It was hard to get used to it staying hot all night long when I moved to the midwest & east coast!

It can feel more humid in the parks with all of the people, water & cement. But it's nothing like we have here in Virginia!

We were there a few years ago at the end of June and had a great time. We only had 3 days in Disneyland but was still able to do everything we wanted to plus some and the weather was great.

We will be there this year that last week too and the only thing I am worried about is that is the last week for the kids fly free promotion. I am expecting it to be crazy busy but am sure that we will still have a great time. Afterall, it is Disneyland

Get there early - before opening. The crowds really block the paths and DL can get a really crowded feeling. I think more than the coasters have long lines. Like Pirates and Peter Pan, etc. Have a plan. I think that's the most important thing. We book a lunch at Blue Bayou or something to get out of the heat and crowds for awhile.

Follow Hydroguy's advice, you will be fine - I doubt the weather is more unbearable in Cali than it is in FL same time of year (at leats to me, I am a South Floridian).

The average high temperature in June is 80 degrees. Don't be alarmed. Follow a good strategy and you will have a great trip. See:

"Getting The Most Out of a Summer Visit To DLR" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1345319

jacobsmommy, are you from Missouri? I lived there once. If you can take the humidity there the temps in SoCal will not be bad at all for you. I live in the desert now so it is a tad bit humid but NOTHING like Missouri or FL for that matter. It's beautiful and it always cools off at night. I need to change into pants and a sweatshirt in the summer evenings.

Using the fastpasses and getting there early you should be fine!

On top of the heat, the fact that the Nemo Sub ride will be newly opened can only mean even more crowds than the normal summer attendance.

I have been to DLR when it is 100 degrees out and it was hot. But that is not typical! Mid-summer temperatures are in the low to mid-80's on average (see www.wrcc.dri.edu/cgi-bin/cliMAIN.pl?ca0192 - Period of Record: 8/1/1989 to 12/31/2005).

I just do not get all the people talking about how hot it is at DLR. Yes, sometimes. During a heat wave. But usually it is very pleasant in summer, and a bit warm mid-day - and NOTHING like Florida. We did WDW last June and it was 90+ degrees and humid most days.

And then the summer evenings are fabulous! We do shorts and tee-shirts until midnight - never even bring a sweater. The evenings up until midnight might dip into the high 60's but for the most part are in the 70's.

IMO the summer weather at DLR is not hot. It is fabulous. If you take hotel breaks mid-day as widely recommended then even the moderately warm temperatures mid-day will not affect you, and you will be fresh and rested each evening.

Almost no rain. Almost no humidity. Temperatures in the mid-to-low 80's and sometimes 90's in the day and 70's in the evening. Nearby walking distance hotels where you can swim and nap. Folks, if you will complain about this, you'll complain about anything. The weather is great in the summer at DLR.

3 days is usually enough if you are there 1st thing every day. I think it is doable without a doubt.

^I Dont' think that is true. It may shift crowds from 1 side of the park (Currently 'Pirates') to the other. Overall summer attendance will be typically crowded but not 'Last day of Christmas Parade' crowded. As for the Heat, the aforementioned 'Pirates' may be just the ticket.:coffee:

I know that Al Lutz's recent report predicts higher attendance levels due to all the California Annual Passholders, etc that will want to see the newest E ticket ride. This is a highly anticipated opening. Even if just 10% of them try to ride the first couple weeks, that translates into thousands of extra heads each day.

It was really too hot for us last year, we went in July. But as others have said I think that last year was more hot then usual!

We live in Nevada and were used to dry heat! Anaheim is not the same kind of dry heat. I mean we can actually feel the moisture in the air when we breathe while were there! So it's not quite desert dry for us! Last July not only felt hot, but it also felt humid. We've gone one time before in July and it wasn't quite that bad. So I think last year was just out of the norm hot.

But honestly I prefer early June, so I can get the more mild "June gloom". Or fall, like were doing October this year. I don't do well in hot temps!

My issue is that I'm a teacher and have to go when everyone else does! That part of the job stinks!

I also have to agree with the above. We have left our home town where the weather is above 105 each day and have gone the last two years mid to late August and found the weather cooler. The dry heat makes a difference. Having a reasonable plan makes a difference. Do the research, follow the experts advice and expect the expected and you will have a grand time.
