when they refurbish resort rooms. They recycle the used furnishings in their Disney housing for the CP program, interns, etc. DS stayed in Disney housing this past summer while on an internship at DL (All-American College Band). He said his apartment furnishings were all from resort refurbishments. Also, what I thought was cute, was that when they arrived, they each received a kit of Mickey soap, shampoo, mouthwash, etc. His apartment even had Disney toilet paper! Apparently, they said they do the same thing at WDW for their apartments. I thought that was cool!

They also make them available for the Cast Members to buy. I have a beautiful print given to me that was bought from the Disney Inn before it became Shades of Green of Snow White.

Disney TP? I gotta have some. What does it look like? :earsboy:

Actually, the toilet paper itself is just plain white. So once it's on the roll, it's nothing special. But the wrapper it comes in is all covered with bubbles, many of which are shaped like hidden Mickeys. I've got a roll sitting in my bathroom. I'm never gonna use it. Once you put it on the roll, the effect is lost!

This is good to know. I saw them changing out the chairs in the BWVs one trip and the old ones were still in great shape. I had hoped they didn't throw them away.

You can also buy Disney furniture on mousesurplus.com They had whole suites from the Poly recently.

They very definitely don't do the same in Orlando!! My daughter was a CP last Spring and I saw the furniture in the apartments at Vista and Chatham ~ NOT anywhere even close to Disney resort (recycled) furnishings! :sad2:

no I have done the CP twice in Orlando they do NOT use the furniture from the resorts. they dont even do the soap shampoo thing you were saying maybe thats just becasue hes in the band. mickey tp sounds cool althou i never got any

This is definitely not happening at housing for WDWCP. I'm sitting in my Chatham Square paprtment on my rented mattress with bar code...looking at the semi-tattered brown/tan patterend couch with bar code...wondering where my mouthwash and soap is.

Boy, I'm so sorry they don't apparently do the same thing in WDW. Perhaps it's only in the Intern's apartments, not the regular CP? It was a different program he was on. Or maybe they were just plain not telling DS the truth when they said they did the same thing in WDW as at DL. DS said his furniture was very nice.

My ex-BIL worked for a company that refurbished Disney Villas, (before it was Disney Institute, before it was saratoga springs. A while ago!) and they would liquidate it. My first furniture came from there. Pretty nice stuff, right down to the mirrior.

I liked the daybed that the CR used (uses?) in their guestrooms. It's the type that is a couch and then the back of the sofa where the mattress is flips over to make into a twin bed.

Not that I live anywhere near WDW even if I did find out that they liquidate them.

Boy do I miss Property Control

Picked up a Lane end table for $5. and had so much fun refinishing it.
A picture of Mickey in a topiary garden from the Disney Institute, its huge about 50" by 50"
DH got a set of golf clubs.

Yeah..no. There is no "other" intern program, other than the advanced internship/professional internship program. They have very limited housing for these guys, and they have the same furniture as us. The California versions of our programs are a lot newer and very much smaller than ours. At the rate that resorts are getting refurbished, and to make things as fair as possible, they could not furnish all the apartments with this old stuff.

Plus, we all have twin beds. There aren't enough twin beds anywhere to fill all these apartments--except for the rental company they rent it from.

When we moved in we did get a roll of toilet paper...but it was the same TP we put in guest rooms. Does NOT have Mickey's on it...I'm a housekeeper...I know.

Sorry...this kinda sounds mean, but I totally don't mean to sound mean.

Like I said, I guess they told him wrong then. They did say that the furniture in his apartment was from resort refurbishings. It wasn't a CP program, the Disney All-American Band program. So, he was just going by what he was told.
