My parents need to shop for natural foods (specialty brands), homeopathic stuff and generally stuff with no additives. It doesn't have to be organic produce, they are used to eating non-organic at home because there isn't much fresh organic stuff here. They need semi-processed foods that they can't buy regular brands of, because of the additives (like cereals, almond butter, mustard etc.). So they are looking for a true health food store rather than just a fresh produce market.

I know there's Whole Foods in Winter park, Fresh Produce Market (or something like that) and Chamberlain's. Chamberlain's looks like it does health food in general, I think Whole Foods may too, but I'm not sure about Fresh. Are there any others? Can anyone give me any advice? I've done searches on the net, and I'm not coming up with a lot!

I cannot answer specifically about florida, but Whole Foods would have the items you are looking for. A large variety of no processed health foods. Lots of bulk too, like fresh almond butter out of a machine into a plastic container. There are several name brands as well as Whole foods own brand. If you are in Canada I think you will be pleased with the prices as well although more than your traditional graocery store in the states. Also many of the regular markets here carry a variety of these types of foods. Some are in on health food section and some are mixed in with the each type of food. Super Target carries a small to moderate variety throughout the store. It will not be as large of a selection however and you would have to do alot more searching and reading of lables. If you want to let me know specifically items you are looking for my sister shops a whole foods all the time and I can ask her (we do not have one here). And yes U2 Rocks and I get jealous everytime I see your signature.:thumbsup2

DD loves The OrganicPlace. :)

Ohh, this is a find! Any ideas how to get there from the Fromosa Gardens area (192)?

We buy organic when possible, and my mother has celiac disease and needs a lot of gluten free stuff which is hard to find at the regular supermarkets.

Not real familar with Fromosa Gardens Take 192E. Make a right on N. Bermuda Ave/John Young Pkway. It's a bit of a haul from the WDW area.
When I searchedMSN directions It came up with about 15 miles from Fromosa Gardens to the store. Unfortunately as you know 192 is a traffic signal nightmare. Chamberlin's Market is going to be about the same distance up to Dr Phillip's Blvd. However, it will be less travel time if you are in the Crossroads area of Disney and just take TurkeyLake Road to a right on W Sandlake Rd then a left on Dr Phillips Blvd.

Hope you find what you need and enjoy your trip!pirate:

And, staying with the Dr Phillips theme for the moment, one of the best supermarkets in the area can be found further up Dr Phillips Boulevard, at the junction with Conroy Rd. Fresh Market is a delightful emporium for a huge array of fresh fruit and veg, meat, fish, cheese, wines and coffees. It is a true delight to shop here and you are almost guaranteed to discover something new and exciting to tickle your tastebuds. So, if the likes of Publix and Goodings seem rather ho-hum (especially for fresh produce, which is not their forte), head to Fresh Market.

Special Note: summer 2007 will also see the opening of a new Whole Foods Market at the junction of Turkey Lake and Sand Lake roads, and this is a real gourmet’s delight for all manner of fresh goods.

Both are a bit of a trek from Formosa Gardens, but not difficult to get to. You need to take the I-4 to the Sand Lake Road exit (74a - the one before Universal) and head west. Turkey Lake Road is about one block. Dr Phillips Blvd is the next intersection.

By far the easiest way to get from Formosa Gardens to the Organic Marketplace (mentioned by madco), is the Osceola Parkway. From FG, take a right onto the 192 and then a left at the next set of lights. This will take you onto the Sherberth Road which in turn takes you to the Osceola Parkway at its most westerly point (actually within Walt Disney World). At the lights at the end of the Sherberth Road, turn right and you are then on the OP. You will pass the entrance to Animal Kingdom on your left, and eventually Pop Century, again on your left, and Wide World of Sports on your right. Keep going until you hit John Young Parkway. You'll then need to travel south on JYP. OP is a toll road after it leaves WDW property - you'll hit a couple of toll booths before reaching JYP. There's also a route taking the backroads (and still avoiding the 192) if you're interested. It's a lot more direct than using the OP, but probably no quicker.

It's nowhere near as large as a full Whole Foods Mart, but the Publix on Apopka-Vineland has a decent-sized section of organic food, at the far left side of the store. It's there own brand, "Greenwise." My vegetarian friend is a fan.

FYI--Publix has a large "Organic" section that has a good assortment of gluton free foods. I've seen GF cookies, bread, pasta, ketsup, etc.
