now how about a room only discount????

The discount was 20% off for the Pop resort in April....expecting the same for November

Still hoping for a RO discount at the Beach Club in October. :goodvibes

Ugggg

I can't beilieve there arent any details here yet about this 'room-only discount'. It's killing me. My dates are blacked out of FD so I'm desperate to find out the dates for RO.
I am Disney Visa so it may be less then a week until I could book/apply the discount.

Still waiting too. I wish there was some sort of information out there. Maybe by the end of the week?

Do they usually release the free dining & room only discounts at the same time or are they usually staggered? I really want a RO but feel like I should do the free dining on 7/29 in case that is the only offer available for October.

The rumor is that a RO discount will come out at the same time as the FD on Aug 1 (Aug 1 for the public, July 29 for Disney Visa cardholders). But so far I haven't seen any leaks for exactly what the RO discounts will be (percentage/resorts).

Add us to the list.
First time in years that free dining is not available our week (oct 4/5-12).

We have a ressie from 10-2 thru 10-10, went to school orientation last night, and vacations are unexcused absences from school now with an "F" given for missed work, so the idea of pulling our son out of school for 2 days is off the table now.

Will take anything we can get, if not it's offsite we go.

The school cannot give your child an "F" if they are absent from school. That's illegal and the school could never support that in a court of law. They can say that vacations are unexcused and that can count against your child at the end of the year. If your child misses too many days they can be held back but they cannot give an "F" if they are not there. To get a better understanding look closely at the school's attendance policy.

How is it illegal? We were told last year that work missed due to unexcused absences would not be allowed to be made up. Fortunately, DD's teachers gave her two tests the day before we left (we only missed the last day of the 9 weeks). Hoping for the same this year, but she is prepared to take the 0s if need be.

I'm confused how this would be considered illegal. Specifically what law are you referencing??

If a child is not in school they must be given the same number of days out to make up the work. For example most schools will not give work to take with you and your child will be responsible for the work when they return whether that work is the same work or different a example of the same concepts it is up to the teacher. Giving a child an "F" is unfair if they are out of school for two days no matter what the excuse is. What happens when a child is out for a stomach flu which doesn't require a doctor visit? My suspicion is that taking off for vacation happens a lot in your district and they are taking a hard stance against it but they can never back it up if they are challenged. I am a Principal.

Do you have a link to the actual law, or is this just how your district works?

It is policy in my district and policy is based on NJ administrative code. I highly doubt code varies that much. It just sounds unbelievably unfair and next to impossible to monitor or defend as a district. I would definitely ask questions about the rule and ask to see the policy and code that backs it up.

It's amazing. I remember when I was in school, my family took vacations all the time. It was nothing for me to be out of school a week at a time. I used to do reports on my trips to Disney. I still have the one I did about The Land, how they grew things and techniques they used.

I would bet money that I learned more in a week at Disney than I would've in two weeks back at school. Rules have become so silly these days, and they seem to get worse all the time.

In reading one of your previous posts. You said missed work cannot be made up. That is understandable but a child should be given an opportunity to make up graded assessments.

Yes, there usually are black out dates for RO discounts. And you are correct that RO discounts are date specific, so any nights not included in the promo would be at rack rate.

Thank you!

Yes, I agree with you, but in my district the policy stated that the child would be given a zero on tests or homework missed due to an unexcused absence potentially resulting in a failing grade. They were under no obligation to give a make up. I never confronted the district on the policy though, so perhaps it is possible.

The is a room discount rumored to be coming out on Aug 1, possibly July 29 for Visa holders. No details on specific covered dates though.

How does one find out about the Visa holder discount? Do you call and ask a CM? Would it be available to the basic cardholders? Thanks.
