Now Available: The DVC Planning Computer Program

I am using XP Pro, it installed OK, however the calender is wrong, it thinks Sept 1st 2002 is a Wednesday.

It thinks Sept 30th 2002 is a Thursday and Oct 1st is also a Thursday.

Any Ideas?

BTW Apart from this the program is great!

I'm having calendar problems, too (Windows 98 SE)- which is doubly evident in the tutorial as the calendar thinks that March 9th is a Saturday, but the tutorial seems to assume it's a Sunday. This throws off all the points in the tutorial.

I know that March 9th should be a Sunday as we have a trip planned March 21-25 and the dates on these are off by one as well (the 21st should be a Friday and the calendar reports it being a Thursday). My computer calendar is correct (I double-checked) - any ideas why the one in the program might be off?

Otherwise, great program!

The problem is the Windows setting for region. To tell you the truth, I didn't even think about this while developing the program.

In the US we would call Sep 1, 2002 as 9/1/02

In the UK you would use 1/9/02

So even though it's printing the dates on the calendar (my program controls that), it thinks the first date in September is Wednesday (It used Jan 9th, 2002 which is a Wednesday to calculate what day of the week to start the calendar on)

The only workaround I can offer is that if you set your computer to English (USA) it will work. At this point that's all I can offer as a suggestion. In future versions I can probably have it check for which version of date/time a user has their computer set to.

Owensamo...is this the same for you? Is your computer set for something other than English(US)?

Notice to everyone:
Basically it's the Windows Short Date format that matters. Anyone who has this set for other than month/day/year will have this problem. (Such as probably all of Europe which uses day/month/year

I'll play with this and if it's an easy fix I'll put a new version out for download. It would only be necessary for our overseas members to get a new download. I'll post back here if I can do something. Otherwise it may have to wait until Springtime when I rewrite a lot of it to include full point tracking.

If you have technical questions about installing or using Caskbill's DVC program, please contact him personally by email or PM. We can't allow this board to be used for personal messages answering questions about this.

Thanks!

Doh! Somehow I managed to get my region set to English (UK) rather than English (US). Being as I'm in the US, I didn't expect that so didn't even think to look at it!

Thanks! Works great!

I need a bit of help. When executing the setup, I get a True Type Font Installer message asking if I want to install into c:\ttinstall. When I select continue, it is looking for a disk. Any ideas? Thanks ...

Caskbill - this is awesome! :bounce: DH was impressed with all of the work you have done for all of us to use this program. He thinks Disney should hire you!! Thanks so much for making this available to us. Annmarie

cdorval, I sent you an e-mail.

If anyone else has any specific, individual technical or installation problems, then please just e-mail me directly, per Doc's request.

Feel free to continue to post any general comments here on the DIS.

I hate to say this, but there is a problem. My installation went OK, but when I run the tutorial, it is wrong. It tells me to click on March 9th, 2003. When I do the program tells me that that date requires 48 points for a 1BR at OKW. BUT the tutorial tells me that 22 points are required for that day. I double checked and the corect points IS 22. So, basically the tutorial is right, but the program IS WRONG, it says I need 48 points.

Wow....what a great program. My computer didn't download it right the first time, so I deleted it and tried again. Glad I did.

I was a huge fan of your Excel program, Bill....but this is so much better! Thanks so much! Can't wait until you add points tracking because it would be so nice to have it all in one program....but this is really awesome as it is. I'm very, very impressed.

Thanks so much for al lthe work you put into this. Cannot wait until I actually have a vacation to plan to be able to use it for something other than just dreaming. Thank you again. Great job.

Thanks!!!!!!!

It looks, and works, beautifully!

WOW! You've created a fantastic program! Thanks so much for sharing it. :)

Wonderful program Caskbill. Thank you for all your work and providing this for us. We use it regularly now, it's great.

Someone suggested using Dave's program for point tracking that the combination of the two programs was a good one. Does anyone have the link to Dave's program?
