Now Approaching... Sleepingbooty's Sept. PTR (We're BAAACK! 9/26)

Glad you could carry on without me. :lmao:

I think you're right, a Tuesday shouldn't be too crowded AND re-arranging the 'Ohana might be rather tough. Good call!

Liesa, we could never carry on without you!!! You are integral to the success of this PTR, my friend!:cutie:

You can't rush bread pudding. Nor can one hasten through skewered meat. And given that said combination makes walking without a waddle increasingly difficult, I'd say that Tuesday was the perfect solution.

You're very sweet. Are you SURE you don't wanna come out to DC and have a drink with JenBear, Glenn and I?? You could interview us or something TA related! :rotfl2:

Too true! Ohana is a meal to linger over. In fact, I'm feeling the need for an Ohana theme dinner here at home soon - maybe to celebrate the 100 day mark?

Don't I wish! You'll make it to the midwest one of these days. Or I'll make it to the Northwest. Or we'll be at Disney at the same time. Maybe Peepfest.

Chapter 29. Vintage Goodies

I got such a neat surprise this week! Our subdivision had a neighborhood garage sale last weekend. We didn't participate this time, but I got an email the day after the sale from a friend who did. She had put out an old dish set of her grandmother's, and it didn't sell. She wanted to know if I would like to have it. She attached a picture to the email, and as soon as I saw it, I just couldn't believe it!

My friend thinks the plates are about 40 years old. She said her grandmother bought them on a trip to Disneyland sometime between 1968 and 1972. They are in perfect condition! I just couldn't believe that, number 1 - no one had bought them, and number 2 - that she'd want to give them away!

She said she wanted someone who'd really appreciate them to have them. And it was so sweet of her to think of me. I really don't know her all that well, she's really more of a casual acquaintance. I met her a couple years ago through another friend at a crop. We've really only talked a handful of times, but we've had some really good conversations. She's a really neat person - definitely someone I'd like to get to know better. But life just gets so busy, ya know?

Anyhow, I think I'm going to do up my home office in a Disney theme. I've got a set of shelves I'd like to put up on the wall above and to the right of my desk, and I think the dish set will look lovely there. :goodvibes

Yes, I agree with Liesa! You should come out to DC! Well... if you can't, you better come for Peepfest!!!

WHAT a find!!! :hyper: Those plates must be worth something, you think?! That was so nice of that friend of yours to think of you. Take good care of them.

My mom has her office all decorated with Disney stuff... and she's not even a TA! Keep your morale up though. :thumbsup2

Congrats on the plates! I'm sure they've gotta be worth something. I hear there are a lot of Disney nuts out there. ::MickeyMo

Those dishes are beautiful-- how sweet of her to think of you! I'm also amazed the quality is so good!

love the plates! How very sweet :) and how perfect for your office and new career!

:goodvibes I've heard that! I do wonder if they are worth something. When I get time I'll peruse the Disneyana section on Ebay. But - I'm keeping them regardless.

Love the plates---How nice that your neighbor just gave them to you! :)

I know! When she first asked me if I wanted them I said, "Sure! Just let me know what you want for them." But she wouldn't hear of it.

Those are great! :goodvibes How appropriate for you to set up your office with a Disney theme.

You know, I've been wanting to do a Disney themed room for a long time. I really love those vintage park posters they have at The Art of Disney. Maybe I'll pick one up when we go in September.

It was sweet!:goodvibes

And, it gives me a good reason to shop - more Disney decorative stuff to go with it!

Those are an incredible find!! You are sooooooooo lucky!! I found a little antique donkey (remember that one) purchased in 1958 from Frontierland DLR and I adore it!!! Only a real nut would truly find it valuable and appreciate those little treasures! ;) Enjoy them!

love the plates!!! btw my office is my disney themed room!!;) they would definitely work great in there, what a treasure!!
