Now a Trip Report!!! Will We Stay or Will We Go? A Thanksgiving Pre-Trip/Trip Report

One thing I need to add about our arrival: Hannah started on the “can we go swimming?” from the time we checked in. The next morning and all day at Epcot all I heard was “Can we go swimming? I want to go swimming.”

Also, I still had my old camera and I let Alison use it for the trip. She got some really good pictures! I’ll be including some of her pictures with mine.

Epcot!!!! Saturday, November 20 (Hold on...it's gonna be a longgggggg day!)

I slowly started waking up and, when I couldn’t stand it any longer, I decided to get up and get ready while Clay and the girls slept. A look at the bedside clock showed it was 7:30. By the time I got out of the shower everyone else was starting to stir. I walked outside to see the view. The weather was perfect today! Here’s what I saw:

100_1325.jpg

YES!!!! Lakeview baby!!! Now I know this is nowhere near like having a lakeview room at BLT or the Contemporary but I was pretty darn happy with it! Our room was on the very end and we were very close to this:

100_1326.jpg

Here’s our window:

100_1327.jpg

(Hidden Jill in barefeet! LOL)

The really cute set of clings I had ended up falling off. :(

We went to the Pop Food Court for breakfast. It was 9:15 and that place was a ZOO!! The girls got a cheese omelette, I got the Bounty Platter and Clay got a Western omelette. We got our refillable mugs at this time too so used those for our drinks.

100_1331.jpg

100_1336.jpg

After breakfast, Clay got a luggage cart from bell services and the girls and I headed back to the room. When we got to the room, a Mousekeeper was already in the room cleaning. I opened the door but didn’t see her so just as I’m saying “hello?” she comes out of the bathroom, sees me and screams! She didn’t realize I’d come in the room and I nearly gave the poor woman a heart attack! I apologized to her profusely for scaring her so badly. This is what was on the bed:

100_1337.jpg

100_1339.jpg

Clay arrives with the luggage and I unpack what I can and then it’s finally time to head to Epcot!!!!

100_1341.jpg

(People with eyes closed in pictures is also a theme this trip. Notice Hannah is already writing in her journal. She only wrote a few entries but they're really cute! I'll share those later.)

It was about 11:30 when we arrived. This day we were doing WS to soak up the atmosphere. We took our time walking from the turnstiles to FW. Today was not going to be a day of rushing here and there. As we got to FW, it still wasn’t very crowded. The first thing the girls wanted to do was go to

100_1348.jpg

(Gratuitous fountain picture!)

100_1347.jpg

I can’t remember if I suggested it or if one of the girls asked about riding Soarin’, but it was decided that Clay and the girls would go on to Club Cool while I got FPs for Soarin’ for later. The Land was PACKED!!! :scared1: Man that was a crazy crowd of people! I don’t remember the wait time for Soarin’ but I know it was long.

100_1345.jpg

100_1346.jpg

I met up with Clay and the girls at Club Cool to discover that I’d missed Hannah and Alison drinking Beverly! Alison was a good sport and took one for the team by getting another cup of Beverly and drinking it so I could get this:

100_1354.jpg

Bless her! I really should have bought her something special or given her some extra spending money for doing this!

Hannah had to stop and check out the fountain for a bit.

100_1355.jpg

100_1356.jpg

100_1358.jpg

I think it was playing music and dancing so that grabbed her attention. (Stopping at fountains would be a theme with her this trip.) After enjoying the fountain it was time to head to WS.

(continued from last post)

We get on the other side of Club Cool and…….where’d everybody go???!!! It was empty heading to WS.

I spotted a Photopass photographer in front of the Mickey and Minnie topiary so we stopped and got our first Photopass picture. I also had the PP photographer take our picture with my camera.

100_1361.jpg

Really??? You couldn’t do better than that??? :sad2: Here’s a better picture!

100_1362.jpg

Continuing with the leisurely stroll, we stopped so the girls could get a FP for a Kim Possible mission.

100_1363.jpg

They were to go to Norway to pick up their Kimmunicator and find out what their mission would be. We then continued our leisurely stroll to the WS. Hannah found a turtle so that required another stop to watch the turtle for a bit.

100_6204.jpg

(Alison's picture)

The weather was absolutely perfect and I felt so relaxed and happy. I was just soaking it all in. Ahhhhhhhhh :cloud9: I channeled my inner MeMom and was taking all kinds of pictures! After the turtle watching was done, we walked along to our first stop in the WS…Canada. Come on and walk with us!

We walked around admiring the sights and Hannah found the Kidcot Station. She wanted to go in but once she got there and saw what they were doing (coloring Duffy) she quickly lost interest and decided she didn’t want to do that. (Side note: I saw a lot of kids and/or parents carrying these things.)

100_1382.jpg

100_1383.jpg

From there we headed to see O! Canada! I think we had to wait about 5 minutes for the next show. This was the first time we’d seen the movie and it was awesome! Made me think about going to Canada for our next vacation. Ya think that’s part of the plan?! LOL Martin Short just cracked me up!

By now Clay was starting to get hungry again. I really wanted to try some pastries in France so I suggested we go to France for a snack. The plan was: go to France for a snack, go to Norway to get the KP mission, do KP mission and by then it would probably be time to head to the UK for our 5:30 dinner at Rose and Crown. Clay was OK with that and, as luck would have it, a Friendship Boat was right there. Yeah…it was going to Germany :sad2: and Clay didn’t want to walk from there to France and back to Norway so we headed on to Norway to get the Kimmunicator. Their mission was in China.

On the boat:

Getting the Kimmunicator and mission
100_1397.jpg

100_1398.jpg

As we get to China, Clay wants to find someplace to eat before carrying on with the mission. Dude! Seriously??!!! They just started the mission! And, of course, a hungry Clay makes for a grouchy Clay. UGGGHHHHH I tried to get him to take his KTTW card and go get something to eat while the girls and I did the mission but noooooooooooooooooo he wasn’t having any of that. So, here it is our first park day and we’ve got our first grouch attack. Lovely. :headache:

We walked up to the Lotus Blossom (is that right?) but I could tell from the menu there was nothing that Hannah would eat. And to be honest, there wasn’t anything on there I wanted to eat. I can get bad Chinese food at home! When Hannah said she didn’t want anything to eat there that set off another grouch attack so we walked back out. As we’re walking away I tried, again, to get Clay to just take his KTTW card and get something to eat and, again, he’s not having that. I look over to my left just in time to see a lady who was sitting at an outside table turn and look at us as Clay is grumping about eating. I don’t even remember what he was saying. LOL I’m sure it was more the tone of voice than what he was actually saying that made her look around. As we’re walking away, I think to myself “great…we’re going to end up in somebody’s trip report on the DIS.”

On with the mission!
100_1400.jpg

Doesn't this inspire confidence??!! You can tell by the look on Clay's face that he was just thrilled to death. :rolleyes2

Hannah and Alison successfully saved China and the hunt for food began again.

And on that note I'm going to stop here and find some lunch!

Now...where were we??

(continued from prior post)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I wanted to just get a snack so as not to ruin our dinner but Clay thought a snack on the dining plan was nothing but a drink and an ice cream. I wasn’t going to waste my time or breath trying to tell him otherwise. It’s about 1:30 when we wander in to Italy.

100_1415.jpg

100_1422.jpg

The following are pictures Alison took:
100_6239.jpg

100_6240.jpg

100_6241.jpg

100_6242.jpg

Clay sees
100_6244.jpg

and wants to eat there. I told him we could try it but since we don’t have an ADR we may have to wait awhile. (He later told me he didn’t realize it was a table service restaurant. He thought it was a counterservice place.) I walk up and ask about the wait time. I think the hostess said it was a 15-20 minute wait so I put our name on the list. There were quite a few other people waiting too and I was skeptical about the wait time. The waiting area cleared out quickly and in no time our buzzer was going off.

The food here was OK. The best part of the meal was looking at/listening to our gorgeous Italian waiter! Sorry…no picture! We were on the DxDP for this trip so we could get an appetizer, entrée and dessert with each meal. Man! What a lot of food! I think I gained 100 lbs. on this trip with all the food we ate!

Funny story while we were ordering: Hannah is blissfully coloring away when out of the blue she pipes up and says “Mommy, is Italy British?” First thing out of my mouth is “Oh my gawd!” LOL After a brief moment of stunned silence, we all bust out laughing. I look at the waiter and he’s laughing too. Then, after he walks away she says “What speaka do they speak in Italy?” Child! Stop! You’re killing me!! :lmao: :lmao:

For appetizers we got the Fritto di Verdura, Salami e Provolone and Prosciutto e Melone. Clay, Alison and I ate the appetizers. I think Hannah was too busy coloring her menu. LOL For entrees the girls got pepperoni pizzas, I got a margherita pizza (tomato, mozzarella, basil) and Clay got a piccante pizza (Italian Spicy Sausage, brocolli-rabe, tomato, mozzarella). The pepperoni pizzas were very greasy. My margherita pizza was good but it wasn’t very warm. I don’t think Clay was very thrilled with his pizza.

The best part of the whole meal was the desserts. Oh….my…goodness! Hannah had the kid’s sundae, Alison had the Coppa Di Brutti Ma Buoni (Amarena cherry and vanilla gelato sundae with cookies), Clay had the Zeppole di Caterina (ricotta cheese fritters with whipped cream and chocolate sauce) and I had the yummy goodness called Gelato Frizzante (ice cream soda Italian style made with San Pellegrino aranciata and Vanilla ice cream). Man that was some good stuff! I think Clay also got some coffee with his dessert and he said it was really good coffee. Other than the desserts, we weren’t overly thrilled with the food here and the service was very slow. I would be willing to go back and give it another try though.

Now, the problem was that we had a big meal late in the afternoon and there was something like 2 ½ hours before our dinner at Rose and Crown. We were all too full and there was no way we’d be able to eat again that soon. While waiting on our check at Via Napoli I called Disney Dining to see if we could get a later ADR at Rose and Crown. No go. :sad2:

After lunch, we headed towards the UK and Alison took this picture:

(Should I be upset that my bag is big enough to cover my derrier??!!)

Stage preparation (my picture):
100_1423.jpg

We explored Morocco a little bit then split up so Hannah and I could go to the UK to see if we could get a later ADR at Rose and Crown. Clay and Alison stayed and explored Morrocco some before heading to the van to get out jackets for later. Here's some pictures Alison took of Morocco:

On our way to the UK, Hannah and I stopped and saw Server Amusant:

I've got video of their performance but I guess it didn't upload from Kodak to Photobucket.

These guys are awesome! We really enjoyed watching them.

Continuing on to the UK:

100_1437.jpg

As we got to the UK side of the bridge, I saw a Photopass photographer so we stopped for a photo:

Photo0007FourBySix.jpg

At Rose and Crown I explained that I wanted to get a later ADR and the hostess said there wasn’t any availability. She asked if we were celebrating anything and I told her we were celebrating our anniversary. She said the best she could do would be to take my name and for us to come back later and they would try to seat us. I gave her my name and off we went. We never did make it back there.

(continued in next post)

(continued from prior post)

After we were done at Rose and Crown, Hannah saw the cart with pins and t-shirts so we walked over there. Hannah made her first purchase here. She bought a Mickey and Minnie kissing pin. This is actually two pins so I thought that was a pretty good deal. While we were shopping, Clay called to see where we were. He also told me that some lady had given him 4 FPs for Mission:Space.:banana: She had tried to give them to someone else but the guy turned them down. Apparently Clay has been paying attention because he told her he’d take them!

I can’t remember why but from the pictures it looks like Hannah and I took our time making our way to meet back up with Clay and Alison.

100_1439.jpg

We strolled through Canada again

100_1442.jpg

100_1445.jpg

100_1446.jpg

Hannah asked me where the water came from. There was an elderly couple walking past about that time and before I could answer, the man said "From Canada". :rotfl: :rotfl: I couldn't stop laughing over that one!

100_1447.jpg

100_1448.jpg

Then we saw Duffy. Hannah got his autograph and we both had our picture taken with him.

She wanted a Duffy bear after meeting him so we did some more shopping in Disney Traders. This is where she made her second purchase: a Jasmine playset. When I asked her about Duffy she had already changed her mind! Let's do some shopping!

(continued from prior post)

We met back up with Clay and Alison in the Land and he showed me the FPs. It was actually only 3 FPs and a rider swap. Once we were all together, we used our FPs for Soarin’ (awesome!!) and then did Living with the Land. This was one of Hannah’s requests. I really enjoyed this attraction. I think Clay and the girls did too.

On our last trip, Alison had wanted to do M:S orange. There was no way I was going to do orange so we did green. I enjoyed it but it wasn’t something I would say is a must-do for me every time. Hannah said she wanted to do M:S orange too so the three of them went off on their mission in space. I was just going to sit outside and wait for them but decided to check out the single rider line for Test Track. It was a 20 minute wait and I didn’t think I’d have time to do single rider so I did the next best thing…I went to MouseGears! After a bit I went back to M:S to find Clay and the girls. I waited around in the gift shop for a while but no Clay and the girls. I went and sat down outside to wait and still no Clay and the girls. I walked back to Test Track and the single rider time was more reasonable so off I went! I LOVE this ride!

(Alison's picture taken afterwards)

100_1475.jpg

100_1476.jpg

Photo0026FourBySix.jpg

Clay called while I was in line. Apparently he and the girls had been done for a while. They played some games in the arcade when they were done and that’s why I didn’t find them. He told me they didn’t even have to use the FPs because it was a walk on. After we were all back together we rode Spaceship Earth. Hannah and Alison rode together and Clay and I rode together.

(Click on the pictures and our videos of our futures should come up)

This was pretty much the norm this trip. Hannah always wanted to ride with Alison so that meant I got to ride with Clay. Even though he can be a grumpy ol’ coot it was very nice being able to ride so many things together.

After Spaceship Earth we went to Fountain View for ice cream and drinks. After finishing our ice cream it was time to get our spot for Illuminations. We were doing this a lot later than I would have liked. Clay had to get in a smoke break so the girls and I walked to find a spot.

100_1477.jpg

We ended up in Canada. It wasn’t an ideal spot…there was a tree limb in the way…but it was still a fairly decent view. This time there was no desperate rush to the bathroom so I got to see the actual beginning of the show. Wow! I am officially in love with Illuminations! After Illuminations was over, we grabbed a seat on a bench behind us and waited for the crowd to die down. By now the girls were getting really tired. I was ready for bed myself! We got back to Pop by 10:15 and we were in bed by 11:00.

Tomorrow we’re off to Animal Kingdom!!!!!

Joining in! Great so far. Love all the pics!!

:welcome: Thanks for joining in! I'm enjoying looking at all the pictures and being transported back to that moment in time. The downside is I want to be back there. *sigh* Before deleting some of the not so great pictures I had close to 3,000 pictures! Now I've got it down to 2,000 and something pictures.

What a great day. Some rest and some running around.

Why can't men just trust us and ask us when they don't understand something. When you said a snack in France, you had a plan. Why can't they go along with that plan? :confused3
I am glad you got to eat in Italy though. I may have to add that to the list. So what if my allerigies act up. The scenerary and a benadryl will take care of that.

I look forward to your Ak day.

Okay, I am all caught up on your TR now! :goodvibes

Waiting to leave is one of the hardest things to do, I think! So sorry to hear about Clay's dad, but, to be honest, I would have been thinking the same thing you were.

Hurray for arriving at Pop and having an empty check-in line! Score on the refurbed room, but I was wondering about space when I saw that dresser! Chelsea could easily fill that entire thing with all the stuff she brings!

My kids are always asking about swimming, too. That doesn't seem to change with age.

Yeay for Epcot on your first day! The Lotus Blossom was the scene of my melt-down the trip before this most recent one. They really need to do something about that menu.

So now you can say you have done a KP mission! :thumbsup2 They are cute, aren't they? I still twitch a little when I see pictures from one though. LOL!

Great pictures of Italy and the pictures of you and Hannah with Duffy are very sweet!

It really was a great day...even with Grumpy making an appearance! I knew once he got some food in him everything would be better. We just weren't getting the food fast enough!

I really enjoyed the boat ride over but I think we would have been better off walking back to Canada and going that way to get to France. Or, I could have mentioned that the sign said "Germany". :rolleyes1

I think Clay was enjoying torturing me! LOL Whoever came up with the idea of using those entertainment centers must not realize how much people bring with them. LOL I'm sure they were looking at it as adding a little more space to the room but really the only way that's going to happen is if they knock out some walls!

Yep....we've now done a KP mission...and if we ever do another one it will be too soon!:laughing: It was cute but it took away time to be doing something else....like eating.  I just asked the girls what they thought of the KP mission and the response from both was "It was alright." Sounds like we won't be doing that again! :banana:laughing:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'll try to get our AK day posted soon. It's going to be a busy day here today. My Mom is moving. :sad1: I don't know if I've posted about this here but my Dad has been diagnosed with dementia. He was becoming agressive and verbally abusive to my Mom so he's been put in a home with a locked unit. My Mom is very sad but it's the only way to keep both of them safe. Due to finances, she is buying a house and she and Katie are going to live together. I'm not looking forward to this at all. Anywho...she put an offer in on a house (still close to me but not in our neighborhood like now) and she wants me to go see the house this afternoon at 2:00.

Then, at 4:00, Clay's family is descending and we're going to see a new Christmas lights display at Charlotte Motorspeedway. I really don't want to go because I detest Bruton Smith and don't want to put a dime in his pocket but there's no swaying MIL. Clay is out of town so he can't run interference! LOL

Speaking of Clay...he left for Texas on Monday evening. He was there for a few days and then had to go to Louisiana. He was supposed to come home yesterday. Yeah...that didn't happen. He has to go back to Texas. So, sometime today he'll be flying out of Baton Rouge, has a layover in Memphis and then on to Amarillo. He has no idea when he'll be able to come home. We've got Alison this weekend so he's missing time with her and with Hannah. I'm enjoying having the bed to myself! But, it will be nice when he's back home.

Hope everyone else enjoys the rest of their weekend!

Looks la great start to your trip. We were there last Thanksgiving so i had to join in. Can't wait to read more.

Sounds like a busy day. I am sorry to hear about your Dad  Enjoy the bed space but hope he comes home soon!

You have a lot on your plate.

Even as crappy the weather is here right now, try to enjoy the lights and report back. Think of every picture you take and post here as a dollar out of Bruton Smith's hand.

It is so tough when husbands travel. My traveled for most of the time they were small and the delays and the trip extensions were the worst.

Hang in there.

Just caught up. Wow - you had a lot going on to get to WDW. I'm so glad everything worked out so you could go and that your dh's dad is okay. I hope everything works out with your mom's house.

I'm loving all the pics and the TR. Can't wait to read about AK.

:welcome: Thanks for joining in! I really enjoyed being there during Thanksgiving to see all the pretty holiday decorations and the weather was absolutely perfect!

It would have been but there were some good and not so good changes! LOL I spoke to Clay this morning and it sounds like he may be home tomorrow. As Hannah was getting ready for school she was saying she was ready for her Daddy to come home because she misses his tickles.

You have a lot on your plate.

Yeah...it's been a bit crazy pre and post trip. But whaddya gonna do? :confused3 :

I wasn't taking my camera so Mr. Greedy Pants would still be getting my money!

I think Clay may be coming home tomorrow so that will be a good thing.
:goodvibes

We need to do lunch. What's your schedule this week?

:welcome: Thanks for joining in! There was definitely alot going on before our trip. It was nice to get away, relax and spend time with my family. :goodvibes It's hard to believe that it's been a year this month that Howard was diagnosed with cancer. I know this Christmas is going to be a hard one for Katie and Madison. They are slowly healing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well yesterday didn't go exactly as planned. I left the girls at home for a couple of hours while I ran to the grocery store. I don't normally do this but I figured 1) Alison is 13 and Hannah is 8. They're old enough to be left alone for a couple of hours and 2) I didn't have time to wait on them to get out of their pjs! I went over the rules and turned Clay's old cell phone on and told them I'd call them on that if I needed to.

On my way to the store I called my Mom. The owner of the house came back with a counteroffer but it's more than my Mom wants to pay. She had called her realtor and was waiting for a call back. Also, with the weather like it was yesterday, she didn't go to church and didn't want to get out in the cold. That was fine with me!

Clay's family arrived a little after 4:00 and when we all went to get in my van, my MIL says "Your tire is flat." :headache: When coming back from the store I ran over something as I entered our neighborhood. The tire thumped a few times but the it was normal. Clay has an air compresser so I used that to put air in the tire. I could hear the air hissing out as I was putting it in. Well, no lights for us. It wasn't such a great way to get out of going but it did the trick!  I called one of the neighbors to put the spare on for me. He was laughing at me. He had a present for someone at church so he asked me to wrap it for him while he changed the tire.

When that was done, everyone had decided to skip the lights (for now...so I still may have to go. :headache:) and go eat dinner instead. So, that's what we did! I dropped Alison off after dinner and got Hannah to bed when we got home. I spent the rest of my night just enjoying the peace and quiet!

That's an exchange I would take any day! ::yes::

It's nice that you got to have some peace and quiet at home time. :)

I definitely got the better deal!

Clay's family is the type of family that is loud and boisterous when they get together. My family is the total opposite. LOL While it's nice to spend time with them I'm always glad to give my poor eardrums a rest!

Animal Kingdom – Sunday, November 21

Today was the day to go to my favorite park! Originally, the park hours were 9-7 but Disney changed the hours to 8-7 sometime before our trip. I really wanted to get that extra hour in but I also didn’t want to push for rope drop either since we’d had a late night the night before. Plus, we had four wonderful GAD vouchers we could use any time at any park that we would be exchanging for a Fastpass Exchange Card. And as a bonus we had a Dismeet with Mousescrapper (Julie) and her family! Could today get any better??!!

I got up about 6:30 and got my shower. Clay and the girls woke up about 7:00.We went to the food court and just got snacks for breakfast because we had a 10:20 breakfast at Tusker House. It was about 8:30 when we got to the park and the first thing I did was get a picture of this:

(MeMom: I am so sorry. I thought I got pictures of the Christmas Tree but going through my pictures on our second AK day there isn’t any. :sad2: More about that when I get to that day.)

After getting our picture taken in front of the gorgeous Christmas tree, I went to Will Call and turned in our first GAD voucher. The process was very quick and easy. Then we were finally on our way into the Animal Kingdom! Hello my beauty!

We had a date with a Yeti!

This was the first time for all of us to ride Expedition Everest. Clay and Alison tried to ride it on our trip in 2008 but it was broke down the entire time we were in the park so they never got to ride it. I was not looking forward to this ride. I’d seen the YouTube videos and The Discovery Channel shows on this ride and, while it looked really cool I am not a big fan of rollercoasters. And I’m especially not a fan of one that goes a billion miles up in the air, stops you at the peak where the tracks appear to be broken then plummets you backwards in the dark. The rest of the bunch was looking forward to it.

Clay and the girls waited near the standby line while I grabbed a set of regular FPs and a set of GAD FPS then we went through the standby line. The wait was posted at 15 minutes but it was less than that. We zoomed right through the standby line and were ready for our expedition to find the Yeti in no time. I just love the themeing of this queue.

Hannah and Alison were in the car in front of me and Clay. Let me just say….this ride scared the you-know-what out of me! I was screaming “We’re all gonna dieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!’ Clay reached over and put his hand on my leg and I was holding on to his forearm. I don’t have long fingernails but I left marks in his arm from where I was holding on so tight! He’s a good man because he never once said “Uh…honey…you’re ripping the skin off my arm.” HAHAHAHA After our expedition, I wanted to get a pin or t-shirt that said “I survived Expedition Everest” but couldn’t find one anywhere in the park. :confused3 Clay and the girls loved this ride! In the words of Hannah: “Expedition Everest ROCKS!” LOL

If you look closely at the picture you can see the death grip I have on the bar and see that I’m holding on to Clay’s hand/arm:

After riding Dinosaur it was time for our breakfast at Tusker House. Clay went ahead of us to get GAD FPs for the safari and met back up with us at Tusker House.

I think we’d eat breakfast here again. I’d like to try it for lunch too.
