When are the Christmas decorations and lights at all resorts and parks up and on? Castle, Osborne, MVMMCP etc? I want to do a short trip to see them and would rather go earlier than later. Is there any overlap with F&W? I just remembered that I need to get my DVC reservations NOW!

As far as i know they go on right after your thanksgiving. We always go first week of dec when its not as busy.

I was told the park is decorated for Christmas for the first MMVMCP which I believe starts the second week in Nov. I really hope this is true because we visit Nov 6-13th and I would love to see the lights as well:)

Between Thanksgiving and December 1st is a good bet. For reasons that only Disney knows, we have seen the schedule move around. MK will always be the earliest because of the Christmas show taping.

MK is done first so that it is decorated by the first MVMMCP. The other parks and resorts are all decorated slowly and to be completed in time for Thanksgiving. We were at the parks from Nov 10-20th last year and there were lots of decorations done but they were adding new decorations everyday. We saw them working on the ginderbread house at the GF mid week but did not see it completed. We stayed at WL and the tree was being finished on our departure date of Nov 20th. If you go in Mid Nov then you will see decorations but if you want to be sure everything is completed than you might want to wait until the end of the month. Hope that helps.

Thank you, that is exactly the kind of information I needed! What about the Dancing lights at DHS?

Dancing lights @ DHS start the Friday after Thanksgiving.

FYI: the MK Christmas Parade taping for TV occurs the first weekend in December. They take down the garland draped across Main Street and the big Christmas tree will not be put up by the train station until taping is completed.

It might not make a difference to many, but that Garland brings out the Christmas feel for me.

Last year the Osborne lights started the second week of Nov. It was either the same day as the first MVMCP or two days later. In 2008 they didn't start it until after Thanksgiving (due to cutbacks) but in previous years they had started it earlier also. From what I heard last year it sounds like they will continue to start prior to Thanksgiving but you never know for certain until it's announced.

MK will definitely have theirs before the second week of November when MVMCP starts. They start a day or two after Halloween lately. Most of the other parks will follow shortly thereafter. As for the resorts, they can take a bit longer but usually all are fully decorated before Thanksgiving.

Seconding what KAT4DISNEY said. We saw them last year on November 13. Most obvious decorations were up by then. The only thing missing was the tree on Main Street in the MK.

We were there last Nov 18th to the 23rd. Yup on the dancing lights, yes, MK was decorated but the large Christmas tree was not up, sadly, no CP.

I must say, we did MVMCP and as many times that we have gone to MK, that was the best time we ever had in that park. Low crowds and beautiful weather. I will never forget that evening!

The big tree at MK goes up after they tape the XMAS Day parade... the 1st weekend in December. We went this past December and it was up by Tuesday.

I went these exact dates last year - it was a great time. I hit the last weekend of the F&W, plus the night before we left, November 10 was the first night they switched on the Osbourne Lights, then we moved over to MK for MVMCP.

The year before last, the Osborne Lights didn't come on until after Thanksgiving.

I think they would have had it up by that Sunday except due to the poor weather taping was delayed.
