November vs. June?

I'm from the Deep South and still don't like it!!!

One thing to consider is that it CAN be brutally hot and you need to be prepared for that. It can also be totally pleasant, as it was for us 3rd week of June last year. November won't be hot, but could have you in jackets and avoiding the pool. So, there's an upside and a downside either way. For OP, the chance to stay much longer in June has GOT to be a pretty big factor.

And yes, you can swim anywhere, but Disney has two fine water parks that I would not want to miss were I someone who was a big fan of swimming (like OP). :)

Absolutely right!! :) We would never go to Disney just for the purpose of swimming. But if we are at a resort with an amazing pool that we walk by every day, it would be sad to miss out on it.

On our last trip we had an (almost) 7 year old, 3 year old, and 13 month old. We stayed a week, or was it 8 days? I don't know ~ but it was great! Our first trip when we only had one, we went for 5 nights, in January, and it was plenty of time. Now we like to at least go for a week. For us, we definitely want 2 days at MK, and a day at each of the other parks, and then a day to go back to whatever our favorite was and/or enjoy the resort.

If it were me, I would choose June to have a longer stay.

We are struggling (still!) with the decision of when to take this 1st Disney trip with our kids. Waffling between long Veterans Day weekend this year and 1st week of June, 2014.

Kids will be DD7, DS3, & D?4 mos in Nov., and 8, 4, & 1 in June. I appreciate everyone who weighed in on my previous Baby vs. Toddler thread, and we've decided baby would make for much easier trip. But...that's not our only deciding factor... Here are some other pros/cons.

Nov:
- Only have time for 4 days in parks
- Weather would be better than June
- Would have to take DD out of 1 day of school (which is *hard* for us to feel ok with)
- Commits us to flying, no option to drive
- Is only 6 mos away - exciting!
- Warm enough to swim? Questionable
- Crowds not too bad, but have to be in parks on weekend days, which are busier

Jun:
- Could drive and save airfare
- Have more scheduling flexibility so trip could be longer
- Crowds not bad and we could avoid weekends
- No missed school for DD
- Hotter weather, but could enjoy pools
- DD would be 8 for her 1st trip!! Is that too old??
- It's far away...long time to wait
- Could celebrate all 3 kids' birthdays in WDW

Which would you pick?

What you left off your list was the potential Christmas decorations and Christmas party in November, the Osbourne Lights and potential special holiday magic.

I think I would choose the June time frame, but we have already been around the holidays and my preference would be the longer trip. It could also be a fun trip driving (sorry, missed how long the drive would be) and a lot less expensive without airfare. You could use the savings to stay longer and celebrating a birthday in Disney is always exciting (spent DD's 9th Bday there just her and I).

Good luck with the decision. I would go with June and have a longer, more relaxing time.

How much longer of a trip would you get by going in June? One more day in the parks or 3-4 more days in the parks? The weather would make me lean toward November, but a longer trip would make me lean toward June.

Yes. But one could last longer if it isn't too hot, and get on more rides if it isn't too crowded. I'd take 5 days in Nov. over 7 in June.

These are really good points. The holiday decor would be fun to see. And maybe we'd get a good family photo worthy of a holiday greeting card!!! :) The longer trip, driving, and birthdays would all be fun, but I'm starting to think that's a better trip when the kids are a little older. Maybe we'll do Nov this time around and June when the baby is 3 or so. Thanks for the input, everyone!!

I am from Louisiana and find the heat oppresive in Disney as early as early May. We are going in November. and like to go in the spring no later than easter . The pools are a huge deal to us and even in may the water can be chilly (depending on what you are used too). If you are not used to a Humid Heat June may be too hot especially for the little ones.

The dates you have opted for in November your crowd levels are forcasted to be between a 4 out of 10 with your heavist crowd level being a saturday at 8 of 10. . . there are tools you can use to help you plan which park which day by anticipated crowd levels also.

We have done many 4 park day trips and seen and done everything we wanted to do. Also remember that Disney is in the process of changing to the MagicBand and My Disney Experience which will change the way guest can get Fast Passes (you can schedule them when you check in (if staying on property) 60 days before your trip). So you will be able to choose some of your experiences for "fast pass" or special seating ahead of time.

We are hoping that this is implemented for our Resort by the time we go before Thanksgiving. .. . .
