We decided today to take a trip in November. I would like to wait until the Christmas decorations are up but I certainly don't want to be there over Thanksgiving. What is the week before or week after like?
We usually go in late Feb, late April/early May and July. How does that time of year compare? Well, aside from July.

I know pickings may be slim for resorts but we are flexible where we stay.

Thanks

We went the week after Thanksgiving the last two years and love it so much that's when were going this year.

Right after Thanksgiving all the Christmas lights, decorations and activities (MVMCP and the Candlelight Procession to name two) are available. I'm not sure if these start on Thanksgiving or the day after.

I've never been there the week before. I would think all the lights and decorations are up but I don't know if they actually light the lights before Thanksgiving.

In the past most things I read said that the week after Thanksgiving (first week of December) was a very low time for crowds. When we were there in '05 that was true but I think people are catching on.

This year we were able to book at our home resort at 11 months, but when we tried to change to any other DVC WDW resort at the 7 month date, nothing was available. We're waitlisted, but so are a lot of others.

It seems like it would be a good tme to go. I figure I'll call MS today and see whats' available and get a waitlist just in case.

I was thinking maybe late September too but then of course I'd miss the decoraions. I'm just a bit eh about going so close to Christmas. That's a busy time here at home.

Someday though I would like to go at Christmas. It will be a zoo but I think fun.

We go im Nov every year, last year we went 9 - 14, Christmas stuff is up !! and on the 13th we did the MVMCP. It's a great time. Although you have to book early, that happens to be NJ week in Disney, Teacher's convention in NJ, So many go to Disney that time, I was told last year that 80% of occupancy was from NJ!

this year we are going 8-13, unfortunaltey no MVMCP, it starts after we are gone!!!! ohh well, will have to live with that. But the decoration will be up, they will be working on the ginger bread house at the Grand, it is a good time weather wise, verry little rain, temps in the low 80's, lows in the 60's.

Good luck on the wait list!!

One of the things I dislike about going early December is that it really puts me behind at home with holiday planning. I feel so rushed when we return. This year, we are going the week of Thanksgiving and the week after (through Nov. 29), so we'll see if that's any better.

And one of the things that I like about going the first of December is that it forces me to do all of the "chores" of Christmas before I leave.

I have my cards ready to go out Dec. 1 and my presents bought and wrapped. I switched to an artificial tree so I could put it up right after Thanksgiving. I've tried (don't always succeed) to do this for years - it makes the Christmas season so relaxing.

The only problem that I have is that sometimes I miss some really good Christmas parties by being gone.

My family has been to Disney about every time of the year. Last year was the first time we went down the Sunday after Thanksgiving. What a sight!! All The Christmas decorations were beautiful and I can't say enough about the Osborne Lights at MGM. We found the crowds were not that bad. Of course there were people all over the place, but they were managable. We also found that we did not have to wait in line for a very long time for the rides, an average of 15-20 mins. I recommend going right after Thanksgiving and bring lots of film!!

We are going the week before Thanksgiving week this year. We usually go the first full week of November, but when I called last week, nothing was available.
I was able to book a 2-bedroom at OKW for Nov 10-15th this past Monday. They told me that there were rooms available at SSR and OKW (just no studios at OKW).
We're taking our cousins and their daughter with us this year, which will be their first trip! I cannot wait!
We are doing MVMCP on Nov 12 (the first night) and I believe the Osbourne Lights at MGM begin on Nov 13th.:santa:
Good luck getting your ressies!

Thanks! We decided on the last week of November. Now I have to decide where to stay. I can get a 1 bedroom at SSR or OKW or a studio at SSR, OKW or AKV (standard view). Now I have to decide where. Wherever we decide on I'm still going to waitlist Boardwalk because thats my DH's favorite.

Just wondering why you aren't going to MVMCP on the 12th? That is the first night this year.

We travel normally the Saturday before Thanksgiving and stay until the Friday after Thanksgiving. Crowds are very managable but pick up Wednesday before Thanksgiving. It is a great week to go.

I'll concur with you on that, just by using the # of people at the bus stop at CP. Wednesday morning it was like "Where did all these people come from?"

We had a great time and are going down again for this Thanksgiving.
