We have always gone down to the Fort from Mass in the summer months and this year we are going in November during Thanksgiving. Here are a few questions:
1. How easy is it to travel going 84-81-77-26-95 during November? This is the way we go in the summer with no problems. Should we go 95 all the way?
2. We usually take 2 days to get to the Fort and stay at campgrounds along the way...will there be a problem with just showing up for the night without reservations...not sure if we will be going the same time as the "snowbirds". Thanks for your help....always find this board helpful.

GoSox50,

Please don't show up at the Fort without a ressie. You might be disappointed and/or have to move during your visit. The Fort is fully reserved usually from the Wednesday of Thanksgiving through Sunday.

Thanksgiving is a popular week.

Make a long (up to 30-day) reservation (anything you can get for the type of site you want) and then keep calling to fill in the gaps. Drop any unwanted days.

Don't expect it to be a slow time at WDW or the Fort. It's not. It's a great time to be there but it does take some planning.

We have ressies already at the Fort. It's the campgrounds along the way that I was wondering about plus what kind of weather we will hit driving down from Mass. We have been going to Disney since 1981 so we are veterans of the parks in the summer, just have never been at this time of year.

As far as campgrounds on the way down, someone else will have to help you.
We travel from PA. to GA. to FL. every November. Spending Thanksgiving week at the Fort. We usually overnite at a Walmart, Cabela's, Gander Moutain, etc.
As far as the weather goes, Who Knows?
Last year we were to leave on October 30th. On October 29th we had 6 inches of snow. We ended up waiting until the 31st to leave. That was the last snow we had this winter and it wasn't even winter yet.
Weather is very unpredictable. However, I can tell you that we make this trip every year and weather has never been an issue before.
