November or December?

Hello,

I'm a graduate student, and I had booked a free dining trip for the week before Thanksgiving. But since then my graduate department changed classes around so now it looks like I'll have to miss 2 courses. If I reschedule the trip, I won't get free dining - which is a bummer... but the alternative dates would be the Tuesday-Sunday Thanksgiving week, or during the 2nd week of December (Dec 15th ish). But for Thanksgiving week, the flight prices are crazy, so my friend and I will probably have to drive 12+ hours. If we go in mid Dec, the flight prices seem to be lower so we'll fly.

So the three options now are: 1. miss 2 classes and go the week before Thanksgiving (free dining), 2. drive down Thanksgiving week, or 3. push back to end of the semester and fly down mid-December

I have my ADRs booked for both the free dining trip and the Thanksgiving week but I have nothing booked for mid-December. However, I think I'm leaning towards option 3, but I wanted to get other opinions as well?

I'd go mid-December. It's my favorite time to go - I would always pick then - but I couldn't get a room discount that week this year.

I think when it gets closer to Christmas - the Christmas feel of the Disney parks is great! It can potentially be cold - so be prepared with lots of layering options depending on the forecast.

And since it's just two of you - you should be able to find dining options.

I would not have missed classes in grad school - that would have been bad news...... those profs know who you are and WHY you miss class will move through grapevine in grad school. Going to Disney instead of class - man - I would have gotten a lecture from the dept chair for that move......

The December trip seems like a better choice for crowds and school (compared to thanksgiving week, but depending on if you have December finals).

If you can find a room only discount it may save more money than free dining depending on where you stay anyway.

I would go with December. It is a bummer missing free dining (we would be at WDW right now with free dining, but we had to cancel :sad1:), but life happens. Mid-December is really very nice with lots of festivities. I think you'll enjoy it!

Our 2nd trip was the second week of December and it's by far my favorite trip! Mainly because of the crowds, weather and Christmas festivities. The crowds were really low and the weather was perfect!
