november marathons

hi, would it be best to avoid a park on the day a marathon is scheduled there ? if so where can i find dates times and parks for any marathons that will take place in November?

Or is it the opposite and the rides are empty because everyone is watching the runners? thanks

November at wdw is the Wine and Dine Half. There's a 5k early morning at the wide world of sports complex then a Half Marathon at 10pm starting at the same place. There are driving disruptions and Epcot closes early because there's a party for the runners and those who buy tickets to the party.

This year MK ended up being open until 1or 2 to make up for that.

The other run in November is at Disneyland.

I just double checked this on RunDisney's website. The Jingle Jungle 5K is held at Animal Kingdom on November 7th (Saturday) at 7am.

If you can avoid the first week of Nov, I would. If you look at a crowd calendar that week is yellow and that weekend is usually red. The weekend of Nov 6,7 will be the 5k and half marathon. Plus, it is usually the last weekend of the Wine and Dine festival and the first weekend of the Christmas party. In addition, it is also traditionally know as Jersey week. The entire state of New Jersey has off 2-3 days. Many parents take off the whole week and head to Disney. If you can go the following week... I would.

And as PP said, both races are when the parks are not open to the public (Epcot is open for runners and people who buy special tickets)

The only time you will run into driving issues would be during the half marathon that Sat night. It starts around 10pm, but runs for many hrs after.
No parks are closed early due to the half. Yes, there is an after party in WS. But ut starts after Epcot/WS close at 9.

Does AK open late due to the 5K which starts at 7am? Or is the 5K cleared out in enough time for a regular 9am RD?

Does Epcot close early for that now? When DH ran the Wine and Dine Half, it didn't close early. I didn't notice anyone being "encouraged" to leave after 9:00, but when I went out the IG around 11:00 to see the runners, I needed to show my party band to get back in.

Epcot closed at 9pm for the Wine and Dine 1/2 this year. So it was not "early" by normal park hours, but I do think it's early for a Saturday on F&W festival...Friday night the night before, for example, was a 10pm closing.

Illuminations started at 9pm as scheduled. When Illuminations was over, the F&W kiosks were closed (put their curtains down) to encourage people to leave WS. We went straight to TT, and they didn't start checking for party bands at the queue entrance until probably our 2nd ride or maybe 3rd? So maybe 9:30-9:45ish? After that they were checking for party bands consistently.

The after party for the 1/2 marathon is officially from 10pm-4am.

it was that or Thanksgiving week and as i'v never done F&W we decided on those dates.(3rd-20th) we will be doing F&W on thursday 5th during the day, as i'v been told its very busy during the evenings, especialy on a fri, sat and sun. apart from that we will just go to the recomended parks each day and what we dont manage to do that day we will do on another.

Not sure if they are doing it this year, but if you have the funds buy the F&W VIP package. We did it this past year (first time it was ever offered) and although ungodly expensive, very much worth it, especially since you are going during a very busy time. But yes, that week is less crowded than thanksgiving, so you made the right choice.

hi raenstoirm, thanks for the heads up about the F&W VIP pass. we have a $200 gift card that was part of our holiday package so we were just going to use that, but i will have a look to see if thats a better way to use the gift card.
