November 8, 2008 7 Night Eastern 11/8/2008 11-8-2008 FIRST POST UPDATED ON 10/16/08

THANKS EVERYONE!!!! :grouphug:

I had a great day, my parents came in from eastern PA (they don't come very often) and we had a very nice dinner out and then I had a very LARGE piece of PIE!!!! Then when we got home my DH got me a birthday cake that we call the "HO-HO" cake. It is dark chocolate cake with the vanilla cream layer in the middle with a fudge icing. It is SOOOOOOOO good!!! (I had a BIG piece of that too!!!!) Now, I need to get to the gym everyday next week and until the cruise so that I can have all the goodies and DOD that I want. and I want a LOT!!!!

PixieDustII - We will celebrate on board, it will be someone's birthday somewhere!!! I will be celebrating the whole cruise that we are able to do this cruise, that I have such a great DH and DDs and great friends.

See you soon!!!

So this is my first post on this thread...my DW and I are going on the 11/8 7-night Easter with all you fine folks! I can't believe it's less than 4 weeks!

Before I get to my question - Happy Birthday, Morgan4!!! :cake:

So this is the first cruise where we've been reading the DIS beforehand, and thanks to y'all, we just bought magnet paper, and we're printing door signs, doing gifts for the stateroom host/hostess and server times, and now we're thinking about getting involved in the FE exchange!

Has there been any structure set up to ours? Will we be dividing into teams, or will each stateroom visit each other stateroom once?

So much to do, so little time!! :scared:

Thanks, everyone!

I promised this a while back... Here are some of the door signs I have made and some that have been made for me. I have many more, just too busy to get to them right now. I will try to post more later.

One more month!!!

Hello all!

Morgan4/Kate,
Thanks for putting together & organizing the Fish Extender gift exchange. I made a "fish extender" and now need to get my FE gifts together--not sure yet what I'm doing.
I want to include a bag for each kid, and then one bag for adults & separate them by the 25 listed exchangers.
For now/getting gifts ready, can you post a list on this thread the # of kids/ages for each of the 25 DIS names (no stateroom numbers).
Thanks much for all your work on this!

Gecko1/Rick,
Thanks for posting your door signs. May I copy one of your "Veteran day" signs to use on our door? I want to put something up honoring our vets!

I pulled out the suitcases. I put off what to wear on formal night...so now, I'm thinking what the heck I'm I going to wear? And...the kids, and DH...etc...
I can't believe how fast the time is now passing!
Margaret

That's the way the time goes. It seems so slow getting to this point and then time just speeds up about three months before the cruise and keeps going faster.

Well we just did one shirt so here is the picture!

DSC01045.jpg

I realize you can't see it really good, but I am very happy with how it turned out. Now three more to go or maybe five!:confused3 I would like to make Jan and Howie one also so that means so more shopping and mailing because I don't think we will see them before we get on the ship!

I just cannot believe how fast time is flying by and I seem to be moving slower than ever.:scared1:

Your husband looks like he is ready to board the ship right now and just spend a week being a pirate: The shirt looks great.

I feel so out of the loop. I have been away staying at my parents house so my husband could install hardwood floors. It has been about a month since I had internet access so I feel so behind. I'm starting to get nervous because I have just started getting our suitcases out. Man this month is going to go by so fast.

Don't feel left behind many of us are just getting our suitcases out and I myself have been wanting to do that the last three weeks and haven't. But I will this weekend. There would be alot to read here, but I would say most of the writings have been in the past week or so. Everyone is getting excited now. I assume they'll be much more chatter going on now.
By the way Welcome to the recent additions to our group. We all can't wait to meet each other on the 8th at 3PM Promenade. That's just a plug for our meeting before we sail. :lmao:

bumping this since there were all kinds of big pictures posted immediately after my post - I just wanted to make sure it didn't get lost! :)

I have done both in the past. This time I am doing a pratical gift that all with benefit from. I have received things that are specific to the persons hometown. Once I got a bottle of BBQ sauce from an area down south. I have gotten postcards, candy pencils, pens, glow sticks, "thinhgs you forgot to pack" packets, highlighters, magnets, book marks and notepads, jus tto name a few. I think it will be okay to do whtever you want. The kids just love to check the pouches for goodies. Half the time they do not even check to see what it is. They were just excited that something was dropped off.

I'm just a kid at heart I was excited  about something getting dropped off also. It was like everytime you opened the door there was a bag there with sometype of goodies or collectables. Yes I remember the BBQ sauce from TN. It is really fun and knowing that the option is open to put what you want into the FE for everyone is great.:thumbsup2

Welcome Adam. Morgan4/Kate is very kindly organizing our FE exchange. PM her and she will add you to the list. She has a list of all the people/rooms and is assigning days for each to distribute their gifts. We are all very luck to have such an organized and diligent cruisemate!
See you in a few weeks,
Randi

I have a small favor to ask for the FE gift exchange - please no edible items for our dd (4). Morgan 4/Kate plans to note that on the list but I thought I'd post this now for those who are making their plans. Leigha (dd4) has food allergies and we have to be careful what she eats/drinks. Sorry if this causes any difficulties to anyone.
magic wishes,
Randi:lovestruc

That is no problem for me to honor your request.:thumbsup2 Especially at her age she will eat anything without realizing the consequences.

Rick, Love the signs!!!

Margaret, I sent you a PM, but now that I reread it, I will need to give you more info. My Bad!!! :confused3

Ann, I really like how your shirt came out. I like the logo just on the "pocket side" instead of full blown in the middle. Looks really nice.

Welcome!!! :welcome: Can't wait to meet you too!!!

I have changed DisneyQueen1 #5 to TiggerTink08. (Yes that room was you.)

Love IT!! Everyone is so talented!! I haven't even started my signs, except for what I had others do for me.

As you can see, now I know how to multiple quote. I love it!!! Makes reading two pages easier to respond to.

Oh by the way, Happy Birthday to ME!!!!! party: :bday: party: It was yesterday, but I am still celebrating today!!!

See you in 4 weeks!!!

Kate

:bday:Happy Birthday, Kate Should have told us sooner we would have baked you a :cake:
Hope you had a great day!

I love your sign! It reminds me of the time we were going down the steps at the Boardwalk and a two couples were going down the steps ahead of us and one of the guys said "Commence spending!" From then on that has been my dh's motto when we arrive at WDW!

Kate
Belated Happy Birthday, Kate! We will all celebrate when we get on board!:dance3:
That is a funny motto. I had a good chuckle out of it. :lmao: I'm sure many of husbands think it, but don't say it.

Morgan4/Kate,

First, have a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

That's OK on FE list--I'm overthinking it, LOL. I'll put together bags by age info and can put everything together per stateroom when you send the final version/map.
What I really need to do (and avoiding) is figure out what the heck I'm wearing on the cruise.

Also, I have a question?
Have any of you mailed a box for your stateroom before the cruise? I think I want to mail some things, including FE gifts ahead of time--should make packing easier.
If you have done this in the past, could you post your experience with it and your thoughts?
Thanks much!
Margaret

That was mentioned by some people on the last cruise I was on. I think people were talking about sending things down like water since buying a case of water on the ship is like 6 times the cost of buying it in Sam's, Costco or BJ's if you have any of those available to you. We spend at the most 4.26 on a case of 36 9 oz waters bottles. On the ship I think it cost us like $30.00 for 24 bottles. The cost to buy it and UPS it there has got to be cheaper. As long as you have your room number you're good to go! I would use a 2 Day UPS as it maybe cheaper, but that's something you have to research at your end as to what would be the best way to get your items to the ship. I would most lilkely make sure it was there no earlier than Wednesday, so it doesn't get misplaced or no later than Friday. How it works at the other end I can only speculate. I sure once they are in receipt of your package it is held there until they start loading the ship up with supplies, luggage etc. on Saturday. Then it is delivered to your room at some point during the day. It maybe left outside your door or put into the room directly. Again this is all just speculation on my part as I have never done this, but I am seriously thinking about it so that I can save space in my suitcase for my things. It is bad enough knowing you have to keep your suitcase at a 50lb minimum or get charged extra, but then you have to also pack the gifts too. :scared1: Does anyone have an info on mailing things down to the ship?

Welcome. I see you are no stranger to DCL. As for the FE. I beleive Kate is assigning days (so folks will get gifts throughtout the cruise). Ther is approx 25-30 cabins particiating. What I do is take the list and then floor to floor and drop off my goodies. So to answer your question. Yes there is some structure and no there are no teams and yes, each stateroom visits another stateroom once. It is an individual gift giving expedition. I call it an expedition becasue after you are done delvering you will feel like you have been on one. It really give you a totally differnt perspective of the ship.
Does anyone have an info on mailing things down to the ship?
I can give you the port agent info. Just remember that it has to be to the port agent by Friday. We have never had a problem an we even did it for the PC Repo. It is also great if you have diapers to pack.

Yes can I have the info. As I said I am seriously thinking about this and want to look into it as soon as possible. I'm off to do some FE shopping.:yay:

Hey 1DisneyQueen looks like we are going to reach 1000 posts for this thread after all.
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:  Wonder if we can get it to 1100?

Looks like we made 1000 posts. Thanks WendyJersy, I had not even noticed we were close.

Here are the guidelines and address to ship packages to the port.

-ONE box per stateroom, no exceptions.

-The package must have the guest full name, ship, sailing date, stateroom number or GTY if you have not been assigned a stateroom number.

-The package also must have a packing slip attached to the outside of the box that details the contents of the package. For prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient. Your list may or may not be read but it must have one. Write packing slip on the outside of the envelope.

-NO FOODS/DRINKS OF ANY KIND, LIQUOR OF ANY KIND, FIREARMS, ETC.. This may cause the dogs to hit on your box and that would be a bad thing.

- The required size of the cartons you are shipping down have to be about the size of a record storage box 12 inches on a side and should not weigh more than 20 lbs. (This has been asked personally by Dave Adams who is the owner)

Address your package(s) to:

IDS c/o (Ship Name) / Ground Services
Guest Name / Stateroom # (GTY, if you don't know what it is when you send the package)
9001 Marlin Street
Cape Canaveral, FL 32920

In the bottom left corner of the top of the package put the following information:ATTN: HOUSEKEEPING

Packages must arrive by 5:00 PM on Friday for Saturday and Sunday sailings.

If your box is hit on by the screening dog or chosen for additional screening they will open the list and the box and look through it. They will close it back up and provided nothing bad is in it then it will be in your room as usual later after boarding.

These boxes will be coming on the ship with the crew mail among other things so they may be in the staterooms later then they were before as they are low priority in the scheme of things for Disney.
