November 8, 2008 7 Night Eastern 11/8/2008 11-8-2008 FIRST POST UPDATED ON 10/16/08

Hello Everyone! We too are going to be cruising with you all! Me, DH, 4 DD's, MIL, and My Mom!! We did a 3 day for our 10 year anniversary and rebooked on board! We are so excited! Just found out that our school schedule has 3 teacher workdays - Wed, Nov. 5th through Frid Nov. 7th!! YEAH!! We get three park days before the cruise now! How great is that!!

Now - like the rest of you - get this cruise paid off!! :cool1:

Welcome and congratulations on the extra park days!! I've added you to our front page list. :)

Welcome to the newcomers.

Morgan4..we could ofhad a mini meet had I read the boards sooner. I have just been so busy with packing and trying to design and make my door magnets that I have not had time to check on the boards. Now that I cannot not sleep, I am hoping the boards will work like a sedative.:thumbsup2

I love the logo design. maybe you can design my door magnet for this repo cruise. :lmao:

Thank you for the welcome! I was looking at the front page and was suprised how many 10 year old girls are going!!

Wow- Like I said in an earlier post. I'm computer illiterate and would also like some help with uploading pictures. I've had so much trouble making door signs too. Looks like I'm going to use stickers instead:confused3 :rotfl:

Pixie Dust and Morgan4 - Congrats on the good finds. Always better when you get it on sale.

Pixie Dust- Did you buy the 2 pocket extender on ebay. I checked once but need to go back to it. I thought I would try to make my own but I don't see that happening.

Gecko- I'm waiting for the 25th also for ressies.

I'd also like to see who would like to go to the beer, vodka martini and/or margarita clinics. My dh doesn't drink wine so we'll be skipping that one. I'll check the navigators for an estimate of days and times.:drinking1

Bye for now.
Mimi's Girl - where do you find info on the martini, margarita thing? This is our first cruise and we are trying to learn!!!!LOL. Also, I see you're from the Jersey Shore, we are from Toms River! We've only been in Florida for 3 years and I miss Jersey!!!

It sounds like there's not going to be anything left for us first timers after your "clicking war." I really want to try to get to Palo for my Mom's early b-day celebration, but I know it's going to be difficult especially since I would prefer brunch (I doubt that will happen). There's no harm in trying.
I'm hoping to get some successful shopping done today. I also am hoping to con my DS into making my fish extender for me. I can trade babysitting for sewing. I actually sew myself, but she owns a sewing machine. I would have to do it by hand, and just don't think I'll have the time. I've started on door signs, so I actually feel like I'm going on vacation some time soon:cool1:
cmcvean You're doing it right. I'm doing WDW after the cruise, I wish I could have planned it the other way around. It's good to relax after the parks before going back to work.

Online reservation booking opening soon! If my count is correct, I will be staying up late on the 25th. Anyone count that differently?

Are you speaking of the 25th of July? What level is your booking?

Wow- Like I said in an earlier post. I'm computer illiterate and would also like some help with uploading pictures. I've had so much trouble making door signs too. Looks like I'm going to use stickers instead:confused3 :rotfl:

I got a five pocket fish extender on Ebay. I think it was $5.99.

I think there may be a clicking war taking place early in the morning of the 26th. Whoever clicks the fastest wins the prime times.

I will have no mercy.

Oh yeah, haven't you heard...they're moving the online reservations time back to 3 AM for this cruise. Don't try before then or you'll be locked out for 24 hours....

Did DCL tell you it would be 3:00am? On our last cruise that is what time it opened, but they told me this time it would be 12:00am EST.

So, are both of you going for Dinner, brunch, and high tea? I've got to book dinner, brunch, high tea, an aroma stone massage, a pedicure, a manicure, and our excursion. We're going cheap on this cruise.

P.S. I've started my official trip report for the cruise if anyone's interested:

Yeah, another day closer to our cruise! :) I ordered an underwater "bag" for my camera yesterday -- didn't want to have to deal with the disposable underwater cameras this time around. I also stocked up on lithium camera batteries. I found a cute pair of pirate flip flops at the grocery store for dd8 and nice pair of dressy flip flops for dd10. AAA trip tiks came in the mail over the weekend but they have a weird way mapped that takes us on 57 instead of 65 part of the way -- checked the online trip tiks, map quest and yahoo maps and they all use 65. Not a problem since I mainly got the trip tiks so dds could follow the route but it just seemed kind of odd.

Hope everyone is doing well and having fun planning/shopping/packing! :) :)

:cheer2: Welcome cmcvean! It's nice that our group is getting larger. We look forward to meeting you.

Pixie Dust- The fish extender was a nice find. There are ones on there for $30 and $18. I know I can put something together cheaper. I can't book any extras until Aug. 25th. Can I print the welcome right off of the post or is it better if you email to me? I like to put it on our door. Are we still doing tshirts?

KBennett- We are in Point Pleasant Boro but closer to the Beach. By any chance are you related to the Bennett's from Wall? My sister will be moving to Fl in early Sept. I believe somewhere between Ft. Laud & West Palm. The Navigators can be found on Disboards if you click on Disney Cruise Line toward the top. There's alot of info.

Well I'm home with my DS today. He's had a temperature on/off since yesterday. I warned him about drinking the baby pool water:eek: Hopefully he'll get it before the cruise. One of them gets sick each vacation. Kind of use to it by now. If anyone needs any meds, (over the counter, of course) I'm the one to find. I just bring everything just in case.

Everyone have a great day. Bye for now.

Sorry to hear ds isn't feeling good. :( Sending get well vibes! I hear you about someone getting sick every vacation -- with us it is usually right before or right after. Had dds taking Airbourne for about a month before last trip but didn't seem to help. One was sick right before and one right after.

pandamom- Thank you for the get well vibes. I believe they are working. If he makes it through the night without his temp creeping up then we are in the clear. They have been saying recently that alot of the prevention stuff- like airborne really don't work. I was thinking of trying it but I guess not. Luckily we are driving instead of flying. I could say that might help but a week in the World prior to cruise might not help. Time will tell. We are so excited. The kids are actually getting excited. Thanks again for the will wishes.

Good Morning! Hope today is fever free! :) We're driving this time too -- airfare was just way too high. Not looking forward to the drive though. Thank goodness for nintendo ds and dvds! I'm packing some audio books for me also ;)

Happy Tuesday everyone!

We are driving down also. Should be around 14 hours. I plan to schedule it like I do most of our trips with the kids. Head out around 5 or 6pm, start a movie, stop for take out dinner & restroom after first movie. Let them eat as I drive, stop about two hours after they eat for another kid restroom run. Put in another movie and drive through the night. They sleep, I drive. In the morning when they wake, we should be only a couple hours from the hotel.
It makes travel so much easier when the kids sleep through the majority of it!

This is how we used to do it -- driving through the night was the best way! Kids slept and no traffic. Talked about doing it that way this time around but don't know if we can do all nighters like we used to... We are leaving at 4pm and will probably drive until midnight/1 am and then leave next morning and drive another 9/10 hours until we are there.

mimi's girl - Hope your ds is better. I know what you mean about vacations & sickness. My daughter got rotovirus while we were in Disney a few years back. That was really fun. It made the whole trip (note the sarcasm!). I have no idea if we are related to the Wall Bennetts. My DH's family is all located in and around Middletown, so it's possible!

Hey, and we're driving too! I think it'll take us about 2 hours!!hee hee

We were just in Downtown Disney yesterday, all those happy people on vacation got me so in the mood to go on vacation myself! I'm really getting excited now!

I'm so jealous -- wish I was at Downtown Disney yesterday! :) I see you lived in NJ and are now in FL -- sounds like what I did. I grew up in Burlington, NJ and then lived in Daytona Beach, FL for 15 years before ending up here in IL. I really miss being so close to Orlando. :(

Thank you all. DS is great today and back to his normal self. Rotovirus is horrible. The word makes me shake. DS caught it from the Dr's office when I brought my DD there for her 1 month checkup. He wound up in the hospital for a week. He was almost 2 at the time. Yikes! I can't imagine that on vacation. Poor thing. On a happier note I actually started Christmas shopping today. Picked up something for DH at a great price. It's seasonal but can't say in case he reads this. The store wrapped it too!

We plan on leaving on Oct.31 around noon. We are spending a week at Disney prior to cruise. The kids will have their parties at school. We are going to skip trick or treating this year. (had a hard time with this decision at first but 1. They don't need the candy or should I say We don't need the candy :lmao: 2. Only lasted about an hour or so last year before ready to go home.) We'll stop for dinner and get as far as we can. I'm afraid the kids will sleep too much and be wide awake when we want to go to sleep. We'll work it out though. Gecko- Bless you for being able to drive all night. Do you just crash once you get to the hotel?

Is anyone into Entourage on HBO? I'm wondering when it comes back on. I also watch alot of reality shows. I think because I don't have to pay too much attention if the kids need me while its on. It's easy to pick up unlike a movie or drama. I'm semi watching Big Brother. I also watch Next Food Network Star,Design Star and the Mole. My DH and I are both missing Rescue Me because of the writer's strike.

Will check back. Have a good night.

fyi:
Just saw on the regular boards that the terminal will be decorated for the holidays when we are there. The ship is the next cruise after ours. We may get lucky and see a little on the ship though. What a great opportunity for a Christmas card.

mimi'sgirl - on our last curise it worked out that DCL was decorating for Christmas. So I can't wait to see it again. And we did use it for our holiday cards.

I just went shoping tonight and JC Penny's has a big sale going on. I was able to get Ds and Dd several things each for the cruise and only spent $24.00. I love to shop when I get great deals.

Also a friend of mine told me that Michaels craft store has tons of Disney items on sale. I'm going to check this out for the fish extender tag.

Happy planning to all

Everyone have a great day. Bye for now.

On our last cruise, we sent our cruise logo to a t-shirt company and had the shirts printed. It was nearly $20.00 a shirt. They were neat, but I think that is a bit steap. I will be glad to PM anyone the picture which should be a better copy. We are going to make our own shirts, I think I am going to buy black shirts. I think you can click on this link and get a good image of the logo. Let me know if it works.

Everyone stay healthy! We have tried airborne before we fly and I really think it helps. It may be my imagination, but dh and I both take it and so far so good. We will take it this time I am sure!

Remember the time that Disney canceled one week of cruising because of the Norovirus. We were the next cruise out after they were in port for a week. They changed every mattress, pillow and the entire ship and been totally disinfected. I don't think I ever felt like I was on a cleaner ship, not that it is not always clean, but that time was something else!:thumbsup2

PandaMom - That had to be really really hard to go from Daytona to IL!!!

Mimi'sGirl/Born2Cruise - LOVE that idea for a XMas card!

Ok, I'm trying to understand this fish extender thing, and I apologize if this has already been gone over. What exactly are they used for? And is the idea that if I have 3 kids it needs to have 3 pockets? or because there are 5 of us then it should have 5 pockets?
Also, what are the signs for?

I will try to explain the fish extender, You dont really need anything special, BUT it does make it eaiser for people to leave you little gifts. On our last cruise my son was only 3 and I really didn't think he would get into it. But PandaMom did it with my 2 nieces. They did not have an extender last time and gifts were just hung on the fish and door. But we both agree that the extender makes it nicer and you can assign a pocket for each family member. As for how it works, a couple weeks before the cruise the person organizing the tag will send out a list of everyone signed up to partisipate, I'm not sure if were including adults, but all the children will get a gift bag or what ever from the other DISers. Someone may be able to explain it better but I think this is the jist of it. I am very excited to do this with my son this time, since we saw how much fun PandaMom and family had last time.
