November 7, 2009 ~~~~ AHOY ST.CROIX ~~~~

I joined the Facebook group!

And, yes, that's true about the kids ordering off the adult menu. Then again, my girls usually eat the bare minimum so they can get to the nightly Mickey Bars as quickly as possible! LOL!:mickeybar

The food was not as good as our last cruise but atleast I didnt have to cook it. My daughter only ate off the adult menu and tried all new things off the menu. She enjoyed all the seafood with exception that the lobster didnt have much taste.

Glad to see new joins on the facebook. I will make it private next week so hold off on pictures from the cruise till then. It is public and Im trying to keep on eye on the members but if you see someone that doesnt look familar please PM me. Don't want anyone on there that doesnt belong.

It's getting quiet here! Hope everyone is doing well and making plans for Thanksgiving.
It's day one with the kids out of school this week and I'm ready for them to go back! LOL!:cool1:

I agree, it has been kind of sad to log on to the DISboards and not have any replies to this thread. Maybe you all are having fun on Facebook. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! DD and I have colds, probably thanks to the flight home, hope we are better for the holiday! I still haven't finished unpacking everything yet. I can't believe that it has been just over a week since we got off the ship, it seems like forever ago. I'd like some of that 80 degree weather--we've got snow here.

Hi gang, we're still on the road with limited computer access, but I will be joining the facebook group. Anyone interested in doing the PC?
No let me rephrase that. Seeking a non=smoking female roomie for the panama canal cruise - dh has decided he would rather stay home to ski.

Howdy gang,

Linda how was your second week on the ship? How were the waves, much smoother i hope.

Hi Shauna, I have a cold too but its slowly getting better. I know I got it on the way out to the cruise due to everyone coughing and sneezing on the plane, even the man next to us coughing without covering his mouth.

Cold and foggy here most days. Wish I was back in the tropics.:goodvibes
No special plans for Thanksgiving day here. Too nasty to go anywhere.

Hi everyone!

We are pretty much unpacked. Dress clothes still need to go to the cleaners, though. We got home Friday night late- and had to be up early Saturday morning for DD's soccer game. She was doggin' it big time!! DH kept laughing at her and saying, "Didn't I tell you to come work out with me on the ship? Didn't I tell you this would happen?" Between the coach and DH they just laughed at her- and she had to play the whole game as midfielder (her least favorite position). Sunday we had brunch in LA with my brother and his family, then came home and zoned out!!

We are planning on Thanksgiving at my brother's. He and his partner have a new house, and while it is small, they are anxious to host. They have worked really hard to make it very nice and want to show it off. :goodvibes Which means all I have to do is bring some drink mixers and a pumpkin pie! My brother is also a VERY good cook. Mmmm!! We're supposed to have warm weather by Thursday. I hope so, it is c-c-coooold now and very windy!

I am missing the ship so much! It is sad, there are things here to do like wash my own dishes...no desserts...nobody making my bed and turning it down for me with chocolates...sad!! DD has been texting her friends from the ship like mad, and Kyle misses Nathan and the Goofy pool.

We haven't heard from Gail yet, have we? Gail, did you make it home? I have been checking both this thread and Facebook so I am keeping up with everyone on both places. Sounds like everyone got home okay but had some illness problems after they got home. Samantha had to stay home two days more from school but everyone is okay now.

Had my check engine light go on this morning so now my car is in the garage (bummer). Glad it waited until after the cruise. That would have been one more thing to deal with and now I have more time.

Again, thanks for all the gifts and this comes with wishes for everyone for a happy Thanksgiving. My guess is that the food will equal that on the ship but I might be surprised.

Hey Everyone,

Hope everyone is doing ok. Most of us have joined the facebook group. It's nice to keep up with our disfamily. I am still stuggling with this sinus infection and so over it. My boss was not happy that I couldnt come to work for two days. But she will get over it.

Tim and I are working on getting our house together for christmas decorations. Apparently he goes all out with the lights outside. And I go all out inside. We are a funny couple. Well I finally got my wedding band today. We had to have it custom made and we are replacing Tim's ring that he lost on the cruise:sad2:. He is tired of me telling everyone about it but hey he only had it one month before he lost it.:rolleyes1

So I have a question to ask. I am a little upset with the shutters photo deal. We bought the biggest package 300 dollars and got the copy right release, got home to make copies and they will not shrink down to a 4x6 and some can't be a 5x7 because of the borders. So I am soooo not happy. I wanted the borders instead of just getting the cd bc it was our first cruise but they have to know people have problems with this. What is up with the weird photo size 6x8 or whatever it is. Anyway any advice? What does everyone else do? I need to get this together before the next cruise so I dont have this problem again.

Well I keep talking and still driving yall crazy I'm sure.popcorn::

Miss u guys!!!!

I've just dealt with the 6x8 size. When we were in Hawaii (twice) the pictures at the luau, etc were all that too. I used a website called framesbymail.com and custom made picture frames really cheaply through them for my 6x8s. I got cute bamboo looking frames.

This time around though I have a lot of 8x10s, I prefer a smaller size but whatcha gonna do? I know that the aspect ratio for 5x7s is odd and can't be easily changed without cropping borders. I have taken my pictures to Target and put them on a cd, but haven't printed out any extras yet.

I wrote a long winded post of explanation for Traci and a short report of the second cruise and of course the disney internet service timed out and I lost it. When I get home, Traci, if you want instructions for working with your photos and have photoshop elements, we'll talk on the phone and I'll walk you through it.

Traci -

It's not the solution you're looking for, but keep in mind that stores such as Michael's do carry photo mats for 6x8 pics to put in regular size frames. It isa pain to have such an odd size photo. I've never understood why they can't stick to 5x7. Also, over the 5 years we've been cruising, we've noticed a dramatic swing from the 6x8s to the 8x10s. Clearly it's a revenue thing. We used to come home with lots of the smallers one and just a few bigger ones.

Hope that sinus infection clears soon. We've all had some sort of cold since the cruise - my girls are still coughing a bit. Happens every time. DH, who has asthma, has managed to progress to bronchitus.

Linda - I'm so jealous about the PC cruise! I really wish we could do it but it starts on the tail end of a 2.5 week holiday break for school and that would leave the girls out of school for 4.5 weeks!

Anyone else have future cruise plans? We have deposits on the Oasis of the Seas next November and also on The Magic - on the same date! LOL! The Magic one will be transfered to a Dream cruise (hopefully). As for The Oasis, I still can't believe how HUGE that thing is. I'll be watching reviews on that one to see if we stick with it. We may end up trying something else til the prices settle down.

Thanks for everyones help and suggestions. I am still with this sinus crap and sooo tired of it.

Hope everyone has a great thanksgiving tomorrow. I am excited to eat turkey and spend time with the family. Well at least my family. Ok I know I am terrible.:rolleyes1 Most of you know what that means.

Donna we did book another cruise while we were on the ship. A seven night mexican rivera cruise march 2011 for my sons spring break.

Linda thanks for the offer for help with the pics. I need all the help I can get.

Traci,

my thoughts on the odd 6x8 photos is that they sell frames to fit that size on the ship and at WDW. Many will buy the frames just so they have something to fit their photos. Its all about the sales.

I have never tried to change the sizes, just used frames larger than the photo and put a background behind the photo that shows around the edges as a decoration. That looks pretty good.

I also bought a large collage frame and then made our own cutouts for the photos to match the sizes we needed. It was a ton of work but it looks really sharp. We even made them for both our daughters for their crusies and for both the grandmas for family photos.

Have great Thanksgivng everyone,

Kathy

We have two upcoming future cruises. We have the Wonder on a 3 day Thanksgiving week 2010. I wouldn't ordinarily book a 3 day but it was our freebie for buying DVC. We also booked the Wonder for an 8 night Christmas cruise 2011! That will be a Mexican Riviera cruise. It's just a loooong way away!

Donna, do they ever give Florida resident discounts on holiday cruises? How much in advance do they release FL resident rates? I am just thinking about any potential CA resident rates!! DCL has gotten into the pattern of releasing the dates so soon, it's way too soon to market those dates yet. So the general news media out here hasn't even announced or talked about the Wonder moving to LA, much less when the dates are. No ads or any such out here at all, yet.

Christine

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

Sure is hard to return to reality! We got in Sunday evening, got the car unpacked and the overnight bag and I went to bed - travel days wear me out, especially when they start so early. At this point, the bags are undone but the laundry is still a work in progress. The office has been a bear this week and I have been fighting the flu (or just getting my reality legs back maybe) and been to tired to do much when I get home.

Turkey is tomorrow so I do have some time today but Drew is also home and needs the washer/dryer so I will let him get his stuff done. Nick and Cara (who is Dr. Lindamood at this point) will be here for dinner tomorrow - Ben and Kristie are at her family dinner today and then are heading to Ohio to see the grandparents tomorrow.

It was great meeting all of you and thank you for all the FE gifts - it is so much fun to return to your cabin and see what else has arrived.

How do we join the Facebook group? DH can upload pics and I can do a few as well.

Bless you all!

Thanks Kathy. David and I already do Facebook so I will get some pics out there - once they are off the camera that is.
